Sanctuary Choir Tammie Patterson, Director Sharon Goldsberry, Pianist; John Gearhart, Organist First United Methodist Downtown Houston TX July 23, 2017
Hear hear from those of us that love music in our church. Praise and worship may have its place, but no music, it's just repetitive. Give me the old hymns where one can worship and sing, sing, sing.
I lost my dear Mother in July. At the end of her committal we sang this standing around her grave. Thanks so much for this beautiful rendition. God bless each of you!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom last January. We quoted this in our eulogy that my sister and I spoke at her service. Someday we will be rejoicing altogether for all eternity. Until then, let’s keep pressing forward and be all God created us to be. Blessings to you.❤
1 Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed He'll prepare for us a place. Refrain: When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory! 2 While we walk the pilgrim pathway Clouds will overspread the sky; But when trav'ling days are over Not a shadow, not a sigh. [Refrain] 3 Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving ev'ry day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay. [Refrain] 4 Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we'll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open- We shall tread the streets of gold. [Refrain]
John Gearheart has such a creative interpretation of every hymn. I love hearing his use of the organ's solo stops in his arrangements. As someone who plays by ear, it's easy to recognize and appreciate when other talented musicians do as well. Bravo John!
When I was going to school, there were sisters that played organ and piano duets. It was so beautiful. Just as this is. I love hearing a good pianist. Sure wish I could do it.
WOW!!! I'm always amazed (& BLESSED! :) by how SOME ARE SO TALENTED with their fingers to be able to make such WONDERFUL MUSIC!!! It's great for the Soul & ears, both - very much! ☝️😃🎶👍😊🎵♥️ THANK-YOU for making & sharing this :) and your other hymn videos! :) GREETINGS from Saskatchewan Canada :) 🇨🇦
Is Sharon Goldsberry still with the choir? Her playing is magnificent, and that's an understatement. What dedication, inspiration, and ability she has! I'm definitely a fan.

THIS is how a church worship service should sound! "Enough" of those "'praise-and-worship songs!!
You are SO right!!!

I love this piece! Thanks so much for sharing!
John you are the best organist I have ever watched. Sharon I never seen anyone that could play the piano as well or as good as you
I feel John plays the organ at one volume not giving enough sound to the piano and its effect. However he is a good organist
This song reminds me of Mt. Olive M. B. Church in Lexington, Mississippi when Doris Falconer Clark brought the choir in marching to this song.
Praise God for the good old time hymns. That's real music.
Praise The LORD thy GOD!!!!
What a pleasure to watch and listen too
Yes--absolute pleasure!!!!
God bless you and your church.
This is comfortable to the ears
