Please help! When I assign the resources the original duration is changing to zero. The import with changing start and finish date in excel is also not working!

Do you create a Column for Budgeted Units or Budgeted Cost?

Can you explain, what's the different between cost loading from resource standard rate (automatic cost loading using budget units) & the cost loading from BOQ (manual cost loading)

so great, but why the original duration come back to 0,
i understand it s because budget is not link with duration, but how do you shift from activities with duration and activities with cost?
    thanks

Hello, why the original duration become 0 after importing from excel? Thx

While creating Cost Resource, set the "default units/day" to 1/d instead of 0/d.

@@jawadshah9813 If you do this the original duration will change proportionally when you add a value for the budget cost

Hi there, great tutorial. Im looking to apply this on my project, however why have all your activity duration (and mine) changed to zero? How would you revert back to the duration specified by the team

Have you found the solution? I'm a newbie in P6 by the way, and when i did this to my schedule all the activities duration change to zero. Any chance we can do the importing without affecting the duration? Thanks

While creating cost resource, You have to make default unit/time as 1. This is the reason.

Be sure that the budget units column was correctly included in the excel file and don't forget to convert number to text. Tell me if it works 😊

Sir, my one observation, after importing the cost, there is a change in the duration of activities. Please explain that how to avoid the change in duration. you can notice the duration change in loaded vedio also.

Sir, by adding budgeted cost by this method it will not be possible to calculate the Budgeted labor, non labour, material and expenses cost separately and we can not prepare the Cash flow for separate entities. if there is any method please discuss.

brilliant but my version of P6 which I have downloaded from Oracle won't allow me to export/import due to the MS database engine not being installed and I can't get that to work no matter how many times I try!!

Pls put the same for MS Project also ( cost loading and cash flow ). Where BOQ is available with Qty and Rates are also available ( Post Civil works item Rate contracts ). The Rates are per Cum / per Sqm basis...

For those who have upgraded to Primavera P6 R18, you will not be able to export the budget cost.
Stick to R8.2 if you want to make your life easier if you wanted to export budget cost.

One thing, maybe not important is this " Why do have to go out of P6 and do stuff in excel " .. Why Oracle devs don't make P6 easier cost loadings and more automated ?

Hi, this is not the correct way to uses expenes/budget/etc. you should uses expenses tab. and add budget to expenses.

Both methods are okay. However, Expenses has some limitations on P6 that is why i don't prefer this method.
