It’s growing on me but it isn’t what I hoped for: the definitive G1 animation Bee. I don’t understand why certain characters are snakebit like this. Kingdom Huffer was a 10/10, they nailed it on one try. But it seems like with Bee and Prime in particular, there’s always something not quite right. It’s almost like Hasbro is stringing us along so we’ll just keep buying the same character over and……wait a second!
Honestly the KBB Hornets Agent with up dated joints and head sculpt would be the perfect chug g1 bumblebee if it wasn't already, goldbug is a better fit for the actual VW bug alt mode, anyway great video as always 👊
I wasn't really involved in transformers when all the previous versions of Bumblebee came out, so I got this one a couple days ago. I'm very pleased that he has no parts-forming, and I love the alt mode
Great review! Excellent comparisons and totally called it, the little buzzworthy Bumblebee is Bumper for sure. Impossible Toys did a version of Bumblejumper that's a bit shit tbh but also is missing link adjacent. I still love it. I have so many Bees, definitely getting this one. It looks terrible, just like the cartoon. I have that KBB and it's great. Not quite as fancy as MP45 but much less frustrating.
Great review Soundwave 8084!!! Just when I thought there was no way Hasbro could release a new Bumblebee figure I'd be interested in adding to my collection, they surprise me once again. lol Keep on being amazing.
Definitely like the G1 accurate gun for the SS version. I really hate that Hasbro keeps doing the uneven yellow paint/plastic on these figures at first then corrects it later like with Sunstreaker. I'm going to hold off on this one as I already have the Netflix version and Buzzworthy Cliffjumper with an upgrade kit that makes him more G1 accurate. Being more picky with Hasbro releases now as they move away from G1 and they just aren't worth the asking price.
@@Soundwave8084 I bought the figure from eBay awhile back and the kit came with it. I believe it's from Nonnef but I'm not absolutely sure. They sell their various kits online. Not sure if that one is still in stock.
@@Soundwave8084 Props for having KBB Hornet's agent! One of THE BEST G1 Bee's....that no one's ever heard of. He's been the Bumblebee in my collection for a while.
i wasn´t goin to get him but your video changed my mind. he looks much better than i first thought. but they could easily hide away his front wheels. that really bothers me alot. and the black windows and silver face. but i´m more than certain that the will re-release him with a white face and blue windows, probably in a 2pack with a new cliffjumper.
Theres one very obvious clear winner here for that animated '86 shelf!!! We all know in the back of our heads who it is. I have both G1 masterpiece bees and mp goldbug (goldberg), as well as all the various bees EXCEPT the new, VERY SQUARE (did hasbro lose the VW license?) version of the animated movie bee. Its a solid pass. Dont need it, i have the kbb $15 ko. And ive had it for a couple years, SUPERB FIGURE. transformed it a million times, and its still solid. Im comparing it to the takara mp bees, as well as the netflix bee. So, my opinion, on my 86 movie shelf you will see the kbb bee fitting in better than the black window, square, inaccurate, hasbro version.
About that VW license thing:They didn’t get the VW licensing because if they did it wouldn’t be toon accurate. The reason they made the top so boxy was to accommodate for his chest while in robot mode
@@esumoriSexactly. He doesn't need the bug license when the animation and toy wasn't even based off a real bug, it was based off a penny racer. The only this I think is really letting it down is that he doesn't have the blue painted windows on the solid plastic, that with maybe a slightly higher shade of yellow, it'd be pretty much perfect (yes the head could be happier but a lot of his renders have a straight face so it's not a big deal for me)
I respectfully disagree. I believe this new ss86 release is slightly more accurate to the on screen version. KBB is a fun figure but the chest is too big, arms have weird proportions and you have to get upgrade kits for a decent head sculpt. I believe this ss86 bumblebee is the closest we’re going to get for this scale. I’m praying for a fanstoys release to give us a definite version of the character at the MP scale.
I collect based more on alt mode scale (I like hard mode) so my main Bee is MP-21. Initially, I had the Titans Return Bee but he was quickly replaced by Netflix Bee (which I was lucky enough to find in store). Then, I got the Goldbug version of that mould as well (soon to be replaced with a custom MP-21 or MP-21G). So I found myself with a small collection of Bees that has since grown. As for the new SS86 version, I don't think I'll get it. KBB does it better for cheaper. And as a matter of fact, I should be receiving my Hornets Agent any day now. I just wish Hasbro would make a good Bumper figure that isn't a Bumper body with a Bee head. And better yet I hope one of the 3P companies makes an MP scale Bumper to match MP-21 since that would be ideal for my collection.
Kbb is probably my favorite alt mode for the cartoon look. For real world, the first MP or Netflix bee or goldbug, are great. I like the ss 86, too, and it has grown on me the more I fiddle with it, even for its alt mode flaws.
The WFC Netflix BB version isn't purely based on his G1 looks, so the figure actually looks very well to how he was depicted in that animation series. He was never a direct G1 incarnation but a damn good tribute to the original character.
While it probably doesn't fit *current* scale, the ol' skool Classics Bumblebee is a neat figure to have, and there's a few repaints of him as well (including the obligamatory Cliffjumper). On the downside, mans is unarmed (no, a jetski that becomes a wonky jetpack is NOT a weapon)... meaning you'd need to get him a weapon.
That was a good figure. I had the RTS re-issue of it. I just replaced him with SS86 bee. Actually replacing most of my GHUG and MP with the new SS86 figs
@@poolee77 Yeah, the RtS repaint is how I got my mitts on the mold, too. I replaced it with Origins Bumblebee and then SS86-29 Bumblebee...but this is too cool to not return to. Even if he ain't got any weapons.
Agreed on that. Why I'll keep the KO for alt mode. It's like Hasbro purposefully did the ss86 where it could be used for Cliffjumper and Bumper with just small retooling. I understand the cost cutting measure, but it undermines the point of Studio Series being "screen accurate"
I want to like it, but I cannot deny that all the other minibots releases from the mainline the latest years was better than this Bumblebee. And I think that speech volumes.
To each his own, but super deformed was correct. It was never an accurate/skinnier by comparison, VW Beetle. The Microman/G1 version was squished, and it was drawn that way in the cartoon drew also.
So often the way that you have to choose between a tiy that looks good in vehicle mode, and one that displays well in robot mode. They're transformers! Doing both is their entire thing! Try harder, Hasbro.
I was so mad I couldn’t find the Netflix Bumblebee but now I’m happy because I have the newer one and I’m very satisfied with it

Kingdom huffer is decent but wayyy worse than 86 bumblebee. The alt mode is literally crooked.
