Thanks for letting me know about the two little backpack parts that fold up. I've had Prime for almost a week and never noticed those, I think he came out of the box with those down. Those damn things were super tight to fold up, I wish Hasbro would give us arm & leg joints as tight as transforming joints.
It's like Hasbro took the Magic Square Light of Justice Prime and the Earthrise Prime and merged the two to create this Masterpiece.(pun intended) I love it when the legs are able to flip the rear wheels around for either mode.
This is an awesome Prime. It looks like he just stepped out of the 86 movie. I already ordered his Toyhax decals to enhance his already great details. Once again, a fantastic review as always.
Awesome review, didnt miss a thing. Way better than the live one I did, I missed so many little détails. I can't wait to reopen and play with this guy. 20 days until tfcon, I'm getting pumped!
I love this Prime so much, it looks great on my Studio Series 86 shelf. One thing about the bot mode I barely realized the other day: there are two red pieces on hinges right above the truck headlights that are meant to fold in. This way they fill in the torso section and clean up the silhouette a bit. It's a minor thing but it makes the bot mode that much better. The only serious critiques I have are the misassembled heels (which I fixed myself) and the rather loose smokestacks. And some the tab connections between the cab and truck bed aren't the most solid. Otherwise, this figure is top-notch. Great video review. 👍
I've seen lots of complaints about feet/heels, but I didn't notice anything. Either it's not an issue with mine or just a minor thing. I do wish those smokestaks locked in place better.
Great review!! Was wondering if everyone felt the same way I did about the heels but I noticed that it’s so much a non existent issue that you didn’t mention it. I felt the same way and noticed the spaces in his chest as well, but 90-95% ‘86 Prime measured up to everything we were looking for! 🤗💯
By coincidence I almost bought that red alert from Amazon for $20. Yeah I CRIED when I gotten my SS86 Prime. Man it’s him. The SAME Prime we all seen either before &/or after school everyday being a spunkful youth in the 80’s.
The rotating smokestacks may have been an engineering choice to prevent them from breaking. I wonder If Hasbro plans to double-dip and release a "toy accurate" version.
Ah yes, got him in yesterday and he is a pretty glorious optimus prime. It's neat that they molded in the g1 diaclone stations on the sides of the trailer. Customizers could really make that trailer insides shine I think.
20:42 When you think about it, those Blast Effects are technically Rocket-Powered, Jack-Stands for lifting trucks at the Bodyshop, which I find kind of funny!
The heels weren’t difficult to swap. You just have to push pretty hard, but with the ankle rocker you can easy put a lot of leverage on it. I also added a very small drop of glue to the smoke stacks to make them a bit stiffer and it helped a lot.
TY for the review! I'll be receiving mine tomorrow and I'm looking forward to him! I'm not too worried if mine arrives and the matrix is stolen; I can store the matrix that came with Studio Series Hot Rod!
That’s just Prime. A phenomenal Optimus Prime! Almost perfect in both modes, he just looks absolutely incredible. This is one of the standout figures of the year and dare I say the definitive Optimus Prime?! Only downsides are the gaps in the windows and the loose smokestacks. Also the trailer isn’t up to much when it’s opened. I do find it odd that Roller is missing the light.
Nice video... I was delayed in getting this pre order.... but just got it two days ago now I am loving this optimus prime figure.... 3 things for me is... the head the side panels and smoke stacks 😂 but it is a stunning edition...
You may notice the cab looks like it's leaning forward compared to the truck bed. The large blue panels that sit over the thighs need to be squeezed into the thighs a bit more. They tab into the thighs, but it does take a bit of a squeeze to get them to go in properly. Once these are pegged in properly the cab should sit at a much better angle.
Great review. Got mine last week, but only checked now to see if the Matrix was in place. Yep it's there, though it wouldn't have been hard to replace from the multitude of other recent Prime's I have on hand. Smoke stacks are obnoxious but considering easily the originals broke in there fixed positions it was a good compromise rather than shortening the stacks like commemorative or even MP01. I a G2 Prime that is very much in need of smoke stack replacement. The tightness of the head flip is terrifying and had me consult an instructional video to ensure I didn't break it in the process. Also he has a double hinged forward/backwards butterfly joint in the shoulders though it's very tight, and easy to miss.
Looking forward to getting mine!! The heel issue is that they were installed on the wrong feet, upside down. From what I have seen, it is on all of them. But like you said, it doesn't really affect anything important. It is simply the asthetics of having the flat edge along the grey and red being on the bottom if you want to fix it.
If all the SS86 Primes have heels like that...then maybe that's how they're supposed to be. 😀 It's absolutely no issue, at least as far as I'm concerned.
@PatriotPrimeReviews If you look at his "toes" you can see that the blue wraps up from the ground to go around them. The heels are supposed to be the same, but came out with the blue wrapping underneath instead. like I said, it's mostly aesthetic. He still stands flat, and transformation isn't hindered, so no loss! 😁
This figure looks to be as close as you can to get to a Masterpiece Optimus without paying several hundred $$$s (not counting KO versions). I really like how the robot-to-cab transformation is similar to the OP toy (how the arms, legs, and head fold, and that his chest windows are actually the same in both modes)! I can't wait to add it to my collection!
One nice piece of articulation you might not be aware of is in the shoulders; they can shift forward so Prime can hold the Matrix in front of him with both hands or recreate that double-fisted smash he used in the movie to finish Megatron. Anyway yeah this guy's fantastic, I admit I had my doubts when he was first announced as to whether it'd be worth upgrading from the Earthrise mold but I've had the 86 Prime for about a week and can't stop messing with him, great poseability and the transformation is right at the point of being complex enough to be fun and interesting without being frustrating.
Other than the jive ass Coronation Starscream and the whack Steeljaw, Studio Series 86 is hitting the sweet spot between animation accuracy and masterpiece.
Perfect Optimus, hopefully Megatron will be just as good. Shame about Galvatron being just a repaint. Also watch out for repair drone, some users reported that arms can form stressmarks and break at some point.
FINALLY! An accurate Optimus Prime. Usually TF enthusiasts need to rely on either bootlegs like Magic Square & etc, or licensed companies like YoloPark. Hopefully Hasbro will continue to learn & not be outdone by pirate companies. Remember boys & girls, there is no such thing as 3rd/4th party. That term refers to a contractor that has been legally commissioned to conduct work/product for the proprietor. We aren’t kids who heard adults saying words & we want to sound smart using words in the wrong context.
I hear there will be filler parts for the back of the legs in cab mode to fill that in. I can't wait to see him with the Toyhax labels. Those should make him look even more awesome.
Ok, I finished the video. Sadly, I want to point out that your heels are indeed put on incorrectly. I have prepared for this with a watch pin remover that was about $7.00 on Amazon to remedy the missasembly issue.
Just got my SS86 Optimus yesterday, man what a figure. Have you done a review on SS86 Ultra Magnus ? I think he may be the BEST SS86 figure out of all of them. The engineering behind Ultra Magnus transformation blows my mind. The quality of all the SS86 figures has made this line my favorite out of all except G1 of coarse....
really hoping that a 3rd party company will come out with a better Roller and drone to plug in the inside. Toyhax has some decals to improve the dullness of the trailer interior
Oh, did you see that roller can attach to the drone base so that he isn't just rolling around in the trailer? I thought that was a cool feature! The slots on the front bumper fit on the pegs on the front of the drone base.
It's a bummer some have come without a matrix but I'm almost certain everyone has at least 5 of em now that they can just pass on the matrix to a more superior prime lol
I swapped the heels no problem. Sadly there was another QC issue on mine. The panel that the head is mounted on did not have nearly enough clearance to fully rotate. I pushed so hard a stress mark appeared so I had to sand it down significantly. It's fine now, but not cool. I see you had trouble too, but I couldn't get mine to flip right at all.
You can technically get roller and a deluxe into the trailer if you take out the medbay turret. Curious if you could attach the turret to roller and that still fit height wise? I have my copy but not around it to try this lol.
For me the issue is possibly the trailer.if it is not the same lenght of the G1 version then its too short.....if it is the same lenght then all is good
If we're talking about every single mainline release of Optimus Prime, then for me, Cybertron Leader will always be greatest of all time. Unfortunately, I never got to buy that toy, but I can appreciate everything about it.
This deviates from the subject a bit; but as Toyhax primarely has its focus on TF and such , does anyone know where i can get similar quality backdrop-sets for StarWars?
It's around £92 on Amazon UK, which is a pretty solid deal for what it is. Even if a cheaper KO can be made, I doubt that the overall costs, especially when factoring in overseas shipping fees, would be better than SS 86 atm.
Suit unless this is your first Optimus Prime figure, the missing matrix should not be a very big deal should it? You probably have a dozen right? SS86 hot rod has an extra, so does Galvatron, hell even ultra magnus.
The heels weren’t difficult to swap. You just have to push pretty hard, but with the ankle rocker you can easy put a lot of leverage on it. I also added a very small drop of glue to the smoke stacks to make them a bit stiffer and it helped a lot.

Those damn things were super tight to fold up, I wish Hasbro would give us arm & leg joints as tight as transforming joints.
the red part underneath the cab is kinda misstransformed, you have to tab it between the 2 wheels.
This Optimus Prime and Legacy Armada Prime are the best Optimus Prime figures in the marketplace right now.
Armada prime is awesome. I just go ss 86 prime today
It's like Hasbro took the Magic Square Light of Justice Prime and the Earthrise Prime and merged the two to create this Masterpiece.(pun intended) I love it when the legs are able to flip the rear wheels around for either mode.
It’s like a dragon ball fusion
I ordered mine from BBTS so it should probably come in sometime in 2026. These reviews make it hard to wait but they're always fun to watch. Thanks!
“2026” 😂
Hasbro plus just shipped mine. Should not be much longer
I’ll never order with BBTS again.
@@DoctorOfSpice Best of luck, mine is processing and will hopefully ship soon
@@legojangofett1088 Just got my notice. hoping to have it in my hands by this time next week
This is a Budget Masterpiece version of the MP-44, If i knew this was coming i would had waited and saved me some buckaroos.
I’m loving the 86 prime in my opinion 86 commander class Optimus is the centerpiece to the whole 40th anniversary
This is an awesome Prime. It looks like he just stepped out of the 86 movie. I already ordered his Toyhax decals to enhance his already great details. Once again, a fantastic review as always.

Exactly!!
I looked at the heels as soon as I opened mine.
I didn't notice anything off, and if there was it didn't affect anything.
By coincidence I almost bought that red alert from Amazon for $20.
Yeah I CRIED when I gotten my SS86 Prime.
Man it’s him. The SAME Prime we all seen either before &/or after school everyday being a spunkful youth in the 80’s.
I just found one in target today. I was surprice because the website said was sold out every where.
lucky! I went every other day to try to get one with the $20 off. No luck for me. I asked a worker and they check too.
The rotating smokestacks may have been an engineering choice to prevent them from breaking.
I wonder If Hasbro plans to double-dip and release a "toy accurate" version.
I’d be very surprised if they didn’t repaint and reissue this one until Doomsday!
This is almost certainly the case. At least loose pegs are easy to fix with a bit of glue or floor polish.
Ah yes, got him in yesterday and he is a pretty glorious optimus prime. It's neat that they molded in the g1 diaclone stations on the sides of the trailer. Customizers could really make that trailer insides shine I think.

That Prime is amazing. 🤩
Cant wait to get mine, this was a great call as ya see it review!
Hope you enjoy it!
Oh baby, the Toyhax decals for the trailer look phenomenal! A must have, IMO
Look for that video tonight.
The heels weren’t difficult to swap. You just have to push pretty hard, but with the ankle rocker you can easy put a lot of leverage on it. I also added a very small drop of glue to the smoke stacks to make them a bit stiffer and it helped a lot.
There’s no question about it, this IS OPTIMUS PRIME! Not a substitution
Just got mine today from Best Buy, and all I can say is it's the 🐐!!!
23:21 “coffee run!”😂
Don't forget to fold the lower backpack panels in behind the abs. This will give him a cleaner silhouette.
I see this part is forgotten in most reviews.
I had him for 5 days and never noticed that. Thanks.
I think mine came out of the box like that.
Them things was super tight to fold up.
Man I love mine wrong heels and all as this is what I wanted as a kid!

For sure, the "Prime" choice for collectors, Awesome look at SS86 Prime!
I originally ordered mine on Hasbro Pulse, but Amazon got some in stock and it was shipping a month earlier, it arrived last friday and i Love it!
Very cool
30:40 The Toyhax decals for the trailer interior and for Prime's windows look spectactular!

Roller came with so many accessories. 🎉🎉🎉
I agree with the little details. Greetings from Costa Rica.
Greetings to you as well.
18:34 I’m sure you know this already, but that bottom flap in truck mode pegs into the back of the wheels so it’s sturdy and more hidden.

Glad you like them!
CANT WAIT TO GET MINE! 😩 collectors problems 😂
Looking forward to finding one
First?! Alright! I expect to have both copies tomorrow. I just hope they don't have QC issues.
I absolutely loved it
Oh, did you see that roller can attach to the drone base so that he isn't just rolling around in the trailer? I thought that was a cool feature! The slots on the front bumper fit on the pegs on the front of the drone base.
I did not.
I saw the slots and figured they had a purpose.
It's a bummer some have come without a matrix but I'm almost certain everyone has at least 5 of em now that they can just pass on the matrix to a more superior prime lol

It's the best Prime, period. Mainline or third party.
I got lucky and found him at target. I went ahead and swapped the heels but I really need better tools. 😂 My axe is warped to hell and isn't straight.
The best one til the next one
Next version, greater articulation
This is the ultimate Optimus Prime toy. Hasbro will never make a better version than this.
Surprised you didn't mention how the molded detail of the trailer matches the original g1 trailer's stickers, just minus the color, which I prefer
I mention that in the Toyhax video posting tonight
Hello, the panels at the base of the back pack are supposed to be folded.
Yep got them folded. They were insanely tight like the neck cover
If we're talking about every single mainline release of Optimus Prime, then for me, Cybertron Leader will always be greatest of all time.
Unfortunately, I never got to buy that toy, but I can appreciate everything about it.
Looks nice
Thanks
I'm not going to use the secret storage compartment with mine. The tab is so tight on mine and now there's stress fractures😖
This deviates from the subject a bit; but as Toyhax primarely has its focus on TF and such , does anyone know where i can get similar quality backdrop-sets for StarWars?
I've ordered him from Alii Express as everywhere else is sold out.
19:38 Sadly it appears your heel pieces are also misassembled (upside-down). I am really hoping this is corrected on the batch shipped out from BBTS.
I honestly don't see why everyone is in such an uproar over this.
It's not noticeable nor affects the figure at all.
will the matrix that came with ss 86 hot rod fit prime. i might get prime if i see him in stores.
How are the leg joints on yours? Mine feel floppy and if I extend his leg out all the way they don't hold in place, they just flop back down
You've waited and eternity for this Prime?
Well....maybe not that long.
Wasn't sure if you were intentionally making a movie reference: th-cam.com/video/2OcNMxleMHo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=spOGs7cmXrPBhwG8
Considering about how expensive this guy seems to be, I hope a 3rd party company will make a KO out of this guy.
It's around £92 on Amazon UK, which is a pretty solid deal for what it is.

his disguise aint as good, as it once was..... but its as good, as it ever was! :)
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile.
Terminator:"Optimus Prime deserved for termination!"
Yours seems a bit loosey goosey, mine was tight as hell!
I have all t he exact same dislikes. I also think he's too tall but otherwise this is a great Optimus.
They really couldn't put ANY paint in the interior of the trailer?
Come on Hasbro.
Toyhax fixed it.

@@PatriotPrimeReviews very true. Sorry, completely forgot. Lol
He is gorgeous! I thought I was all set with Primes after the earthrise I guess not lol
It's over Prime...
Your feet are installed wrong, but it's the least problematic wrong installation ever.
Will we get a Megatron studio series of him being a gun
Nope.
That's been confirmed.
I WISH I HAD ENOUGH MONEY TO GET THIS GUY!!! IT SUCKS! Also he has forward butterfly joints on the shouldera
Not with that ugly backpack it's not.
29:22 I just ended up putting my blast effects in the bottom for storage.
There’s hidden storage on the bottom
Honestly...mine go in my "Baggie-O-Blast FX"
30:34 Hey those smokestacks are made like that on purpose for nostalgia reasons 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
That always happened to the original Diaclone G1 😂🤣😂🤣
1 more month until he arrives on my doorstep 🤞🤞
The heels weren’t difficult to swap. You just have to push pretty hard, but with the ankle rocker you can easy put a lot of leverage on it. I also added a very small drop of glue to the smoke stacks to make them a bit stiffer and it helped a lot.
