Wowzers the dry hatching is a great idea... its would be an awesome video on just that technique.
Blessings ❤
Yea, is was a bummer when all our chicks drown last year. I didn’t even make a video about it because I was bummed and perplexed. Not until I talked to the local guy did I find out what happened.
I will have to watch this again and take some notes about the dry hatching method (or maybe I can google it and find more detailed instructions). Thank you so much for educating us about that!!
You’re welcome
Wow nice sharing my friend
New friend here
Please stay connect
just a thank you for the info...I imagine I should learn how to do this as I have always bought chicks or just let a broody hen do it
You’re welcome. The incubator is not that expensive so it’s always good to have one around.
Great video. A very informative vid to someone who knows nothing about hatching.
Thanks. Glad it is helpful.
We haven't had much luck with incubator hatching. I have a couple hens that'll go broody a couple times a year. They have a much better hatch rate than us! Haha.
Great info thanks
where u make a loggy ?
Thank you ❤ 😊
You’re welcome
Thanks for sharing! What marker did you use to label them? I thought using markers was a no-no...
You’re welcome. O have never heard about the marker issue. It was a sharpie.
I tried an incubator (had good reviews), made sure the size of the egg was good, etc. But only 8 of 21 hatched.
This time we have a broody hen. Doing it all natural. I didn't candle, look at size, etc.
I gave her 12. Ill be shocked if 3 hatch.
I hope one of the methods works for you.
I live in NM where we are very dry. I also heard to use a pencil instead of a pen? Something about the ink getting in? My first time hatching eggs. I had 2 broody hens, one of them started about a week before the other. The second one left her nest so I am trying to use the same incubator you have in this video. I am down to about 5 possibles for hatching. They have about 3 days to go...Can I put the chicks with the other broody hen? She already has her (one) chick and they are doing well! I have a Buff Orpington momma.
I have never heard of the pen vs. pencil issue. You can put the unhatched eggs under the other broody hen. She will adopt them once they hatch.
@@CountryLivingExperience she has already gotten up and is walking around with her baby so she's not laying on eggs anymore. Originally I did give her the eggs but when she got up I took them and put them in the incubator. So they have about three more days left. Thank you so much! If they hatch within the next couple days, I might try putting the babies under the mama at night to see if she'll raise them. If not I have a bruder system setup
How do you feed them after hatched?
They don’t need food for 3 days. After that feed chick starter crumbles.
Hey I have been following your channel and Pete’s and I have a bunch of questions to ask you if possible, is there a way I can contact you privately, thanks and have a blessed evening
Happy to help. The channel email address is listed on our main channel page.
❓ Question: you dated the egg then started, can you add more eggs and date them say a few days to a week later?
You can. It might be a bit more challenging once they hatch out though. I wouldn’t add more after about 4 days.
Thanks@@CountryLivingExperience
Why you don’t leave the eggs with mommy chicken? 😮😊
I explained that twice in the video
