JULY 4, 2024: Gleaner journalist Andre Williams shares the team’s experience as blocked roads left them stranded in the community of Mountainside, St Elizabeth. They were given shelter by residents, to ride out the storm, before attempting to make their way back to Kingston. STAR reporter, Simone Morgan-Lindo, said conditions quickly deteriorated in the afternoon and they were unable to make their way out.

Yes I know Beryl did significant damage. How many of us witnessed Hurricane Gilbert? If we overcame Gilbert,we can overcome Beryl. And let's thank God the eye didn't pass across the island.JAMAICA LAND WE LOVE!
We have so much to be thankful for. This is just a fraction of the damage that was done by Gilbert. We are very early in the hurricane season. Let us keep our guards up. Keep all your hurricane supplies in place. We still believe God is good.
May The Lord Keep Jamaica 🇯🇲 🙏 through this time of trial n devastation.
In everything we must give thanks. Inspite of the 2 lives lost & some homes got damaged, be grateful for it could be worse. Thank God 🙏👍
