  • The PERFECT Project for RESINCRETE! (or any other EcoResins!)
    Today I’m making some really simple tealight holders using JDictions resincrete mix. I think tealight holders are the perfect project to make with resincrete or any other ecoresin really due to the fact that a tealight candle has an open flame. I personally don’t believe you should be using epoxy resin for tea lights that have a real flame. I’ll be explaining more in the video and I’ll also be sharing my thoughts about resincrete since I’ve been using it for a little while now and have gotten the gist of it ( I think! LOL). I’m so glad that JDiction has tweaked the formula for the resincrete and has increased the work time up to 25 minutes. Previously you only had about 10 minutes to fully mix it including adding color and it was tricky to fully properly mix it. Be sure to comment down below if you’ve tried resincrete or any other ecoresin.

    Hello you all, I have been using ResinCrete for some time now and am no longer weighing it. It is so forgiving when it comes to consistency. I like it best on the thinner side especially for intricate pieces - it just takes a bit longer to cure. I usually wait about 2 hours before I demold. It works like a charm.

    Most pearlescent paints are semi-transparent (so they shine when light bounces off the pigment). Those don't work great with anything white to begin with. Same with pastel paints...since the pigment load is smaller, it takes a lot more paint to get enough colored pigment to overcome the white of the product. Another trick I use is mixing the color into the water before I add the water to the powder. This helps break up all the acrylic paint and distribute it evenly throughout the mix faster, giving me more time to deal with the molds. Mostly, I want the resin-crete to be as liquid as possible when I pour into the mold so that it can get into all the nooks and crannies!
    Glad I found your channel. been going through many videos.

    The colours look lovely and tranquil. I use Aqua cast for my bigger moulds as it's just too expensive to use resin for larger castings. I tried acrylic paint and it went really weird and separated, so it must be a different compound to Resincrete. I know it's a load cheaper! My favourite ways of colouring it depends on what I'm making. With some pieces I mix mica powder and glitter into Liquitex gloss varnish and do a couple of layers, and with others I drop alcohol inks into a basin of water and whoosh them through. Great tutorial, thank you x

    I used resin crete for the first time by making my mum a commemorative hanging heart with a picture of my dad with birth and death dates. She absolutely loved it. I marbled it in greeny blue

    You should really seal them after they fully dry. That's why they are fading. 😊

    Rule if thumb: Resincrete is equivalent to white paint. Use darker colors accordingly.

      Yes I honestly forgot about using darker colors. Though I don't have metallicy dark colors only pastel ones. But lessons have been learned! 😂 It's the same with resin theres a certain amount of pigment you can add before it changes the cure for it. Luckily the purple tealight holder still cured!

    Is ResinCrete absorbent? like if you wanted to fill the divots in these molds with epoxy of some sort ( UV or 2 part, etc) would it sink into it, or would it work well in tandem? thanks!

    I’ve bought two 5 kilo bags of Resincrete over a month ago but haven’t had the nerve to try it. Watching your video has given me the confidence to try. Btw can you mix the paint in the water first and does it have to be acrylic paints?

    • @JBKonsCreations
      @JBKonsCreations  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can always try making something just white for the first time? one thing I do wish it had more instructions on was how many millilitres say 600grams of powder and 180 ml of water made. To me that’s what I find a bit more intimidating. I think you can! Someone else commented saying they mix their paint in water first.

    Try a darker paint with it next time? I think the white will make it pastel? I wonder how long it takes to fully cure? If the fading is from sunlight or completing the cure? Some things will become hard, but really need a full 30 days or more to dry/cure all the way? They turned out really pretty even with the subtle tint! 🩷 The designs are so cute!! 🔥

      That’s what I was thinking. A dark color could easily mix to a nice pastel without using a lot of paint.

      @JBKonsCreations  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Their previous formula demold time was 30 minutes.This one I'm not exactly sure since I left it over night. I purposely did it over night since I added so much paint to that purple one and I wanted to make sure it was cured fully. With this resincrete you need to allow all the water to dry up. I really wanted to try the metallic paint with it but don't have anything darker. But I definitely learned a bit doing this video! And hopefully for anyone watching they've learned too. 🙂

      @JBKonsCreations You did an amazing job!! 👏👏 I know that some epoxy doesn't completely cure for a month, especially if putting weighty items on top. Since this product contains epoxy, I just wondered about the complete cure time.

    • @JBKonsCreations

      @@Kreative_Rainbow Yes i think most table top epoxies need that long to fully cure and then the ones that are meant to be heat proof for like coasters take even longer. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful day! Don't eat too much LOL. (joke)
