I know these girls are into anime which is big thing in Japan and I think she gets into her character as an anime when she introduces each band member. Miku interacts with the crowd usually in the middle of the concert(where this song was positioned) to hype them up(basically the band's hype man), the band is just getting back on stage after a little break and Saiki gets extra time to rest her vocal cords, they're pretty smart about it now. Saiki broke her voice box a couple years ago due to having to constantly belt out songs one after the other and they've learnt to pace their sets better by positioning Miku's "magical talk time" right around the later half of their set list. Also while the band does compose most of the recent songs, Miku is the main lyricist.

Rock in Me is Miku’s solo song on World Domination. Her solo on Just Bring It is called Time. Time is my favorite of the two- it’s more serious than cute and that makes it very different for Miku.💪🏻🤘🏻
Well, the studio version of Rock in Me is very powerful. Here Miku has lost her breath a little, you can hear it. But generally yes, the Miku's solo songs are more pop than when Saiki is the main vocalist. Saiki just lives inside her vocal world, and has a tremendous control over it. I just listened recently to all their albums in a row, and realized how their style was changing from album to album. MAID IN JAPAN is switching between pop and rock, they were still searching for their own style. On NEW BEGINNING, Miku and Saiki sing in turns. The live versions from that period show it more clearly: Saiki sings half of the text, and Miku the other half. Miku does not even carry a guitar in many cases, they two just move over the stage with mics only. But later they figured out that Saiki is getting stronger and stronger as a singer, and adopted the current style: Saiki is singing all the time, and Miku provides backing vocals just for harmony. But to compensate for that second-row position, Miku has a few songs where she sings alone. Probably to show that she still CAN sing on a pretty decent level. It looks to me like Miku has actually developed her singing style very much under Saiki's influence. Saiki is one of the more rare Japanese singers, who does the correct singing-from the bottom of the stomach, like opera singers. Most of the Japanese sing at the top of their throat, because their language does not have those deep sounds which are customary for English. In English, people supposed to speak from the bottom of their stomach, that's why it is not so difficult for the English-speaking people to become singers. For Japanese, it's a problem, which most of the singers don't even figure out it exists-they just sing the same way as they speak, at the top of their throat. Miku does sing correctly, but obviously does not put so much effort into developing her voice as Saiki does. In the recent Acoustic & Talk concert Saiki mentions that she stops eating hot food three days before a live show or a recording, and constantly uses all sorts of throat humidifiers. She takes her voice very seriously.
Vladimir Chupin She started taking care of herself after she damaged her vocal chords by singing improperly and had to have surgery. She would be in excruciating pain singing concerts and there are photos of Miku comforting her and gently wiping away her tears. Miku is a wonderful pigeon.

This song was halfway through the Zepp Tokyo concert (about 10/15 songs in) Saiki was having a well earned break. Miku is definitely not shy, it's just her kawai (cute) personality coming out in her singing. Just before this she does her crowd pumping up routine. She may be out played and out sung by the other members but she has a talent that none of the others have.
I think you nailed it on the head. Miku is a natural performer. Whereas the others may have more technical musicality she really understands how to involve the audience.
I love the interaction they have at the beginning. Kanami avoids Miku, Akane keeping up her energy eating a banana, and Miku being afraid of MISA. I also like Miku matching the beat before the song starts.... Du da du du da :-)

Miku gets her 5 minutes in the spotlight with full support including Kanami backing. Shows that the frantic pigeon voice is not her natural speaking voice which is much lower.
first 2 albums were mostly not written by Bandmaid themselves at all. Brand New Maid included their first song "Alone" that was written by them, since then Miku writes most of the lyrics with help from Saiki on some. Kanami composes most of the songs along with input for drums/bass from Akane and Misa.
First things first Miku believes she is a small pigeon hence the Po!! in her speech (possibility she is mad) In Japan the show is between 24 to 26 songs including Instrumenental, Miku does an intermission where she does her magic spell time which is a variation on how she worked at the maid cafe. Basically she gets the crowd to shout back Moe Moe Cune Cune this does several things, gives the band a break, Gives the crowd a break as their show is pretty intense, ties the band back to the Maid concept and online usually either pisses people off or makes them laugh. She then by singing this song gives Saiki a chance to rest her voice for a little longer to come back for the climax of the show. Miku Time! She has to cast her spells to make it a magical night. This is a carry over from her maid cafe days. Yes, this is what BAND-MAID would have sounded like if she hadn't gotten a second vocalist. Very cute and pretty interesting, too, though it would not have had the depth , edge or power that it does without Saiki in there.
I did not see this in the comments but you were surprised that she was there without Saiki. She sings this on the CD as well. I see where someone says that it's a break for Saiki but it's not so much a break as it is just playing one of their songs.
A perfect illustration of chalk and cheese is Miku and Saiki on stage. Miku is similar to a wound up spring and when it is her turn to uncoil, we get the above. So, at first Jim Beam, then bass guitar? I'm not sure if this is the right order. Miku sings this song also on the album. And during this concert she had some trouble with her voice (maybe a cold?). But girls do not have the habit of recording compilations from several concerts.

Actually l think Miku has killer vocal (not too girly, definitely softer but not too soft) as well... usually overshadowed by Saiki's more commanding vocal.

This is a perfect illustration of why so few backup singers go solo. Miku's voice is very pleasant, but lacks power and control. She's killer cute, though! But I think she needs to be the center of attention, at least sometimes have the run of the stage. That may be a problem going forward...
She came up with the idea of this band, and gave up being the lead vocalist with her own self-realization that her voice wasn't right for the style of music they wanted to do. She sings 1 song per studio album (and on the studio tracks her voice has great control---power is debatable, I have no examples to base an opinion on) which is suited to her style, which is a bit poppier and I even hear a bit of a jazzy tone in her vocals. She sings one song per show on stage and does 5 minutes or so audience participation to give the main vocalist, and the band a break (while she takes no breaks herself, and no one else in the band seems to want to do any type of solo spot) so they can do these 15 to 25 song sets....and what you get from that is she is a stage hog that needs to be the center of attention? Wow..... And just curious, why do you think that may be a problem going forward?

I hope you didn't take my reply to you as being harsh, as it really wasn't intended to be, I was surprised more than anything else that someone got that vibe from Miku. I guess due to the language barrier and the fact that the Japanese bands/personalities tend to guard their private lives much more closely than their Western counterparts, anything could be possible. From what little I know about the band, Miku is actually the only one with any previous stage experience (she was in an idol group before Band Maid & did some acting apparently) and seems to be the only one who feels completely comfortable there even though she has the least ability as an instrumentalist. Even though the other 4 are accomplished musicians, I'm pretty sure all four only did studio work prior to joining. My take is that Miku is quite aware of this magical thing she is a part of and is working very hard to do everything she can to make it explode on a major level (even if their management seems to drag them 2 steps back every step forward they take). I think that her outgoing personality is her role/identity even if it may not have been part of her original vision for the band. That vision, if anything, seems to have been pulled out from under her. She gave up being the main vocalist, Akane took over the leader role, she is now the backup singer, lyricist (with Saiki's approval from what I gather) & novice rhythm guitarist in the band that she hatched the idea for. Pretty selfless, if you ask me. However, she is the most popular member, does the majority of the promotional work, and has about 75% of the band's personality which keeps her place secure, I'm guessing. Sidenote---Guns N Roses were doomed by drugs and a psychotic lead singer who couldn't get along with anyone. I don't know how much drugs factor into the Japanese rock scene, but I don't think Band Maid has an Axl.
Band Maid is Miku's band. She formed it, and she is the spokeswoman for the group in all of the media promotions. In the group interviews, one can see that Miku is in control from the design of the costumes to the style and direction of the music. The others continually defer to her. Miku writes the lyrics. Kanami writes the music. Akane is the rehearsal leader and organizer.
They always have her sing one song of hers during their concerts of the usual 20 to 25 songs - more than 2 hours. Saiki needs to rest her voice. And they always have Miku sing as a main vocal on one song on their albums.
I’ve actually seen them live, and was actually hoping miku would perform one of her songs, alas not. We were spoiled with her attempting the drums however

Jack Daniels or Jim Beam. Misa likes them both. Misa is a painfully shy person. Miku says Misa plays better drunk and Misa says it is far better than taking a handful of tranquilizers. They are both right. Misa is hands down the best bassist in modern music today.

Miku is a genius, John. Band-Maid is a project of her and she composes almost all the songs.
first 2 albums were mostly not written by Bandmaid themselves at all. Brand New Maid included their first song "Alone" that was written by them, since then Miku writes most of the lyrics with help from Saiki on some. Kanami composes most of the songs along with input for drums/bass from Akane and Misa.

First things first Miku believes she is a small pigeon hence the Po!! in her speech (possibility she is mad)
In Japan the show is between 24 to 26 songs including Instrumenental, Miku does an intermission where she does her magic spell time which is a variation on how she worked at the maid cafe. Basically she gets the crowd to shout back Moe Moe Cune Cune this does several things, gives the band a break, Gives the crowd a break as their show is pretty intense, ties the band back to the Maid concept and online usually either pisses people off or makes them laugh.
She then by singing this song gives Saiki a chance to rest her voice for a little longer to come back for the climax of the show.

Miku Time! She has to cast her spells to make it a magical night. This is a carry over from her maid cafe days. Yes, this is what BAND-MAID would have sounded like if she hadn't gotten a second vocalist. Very cute and pretty interesting, too, though it would not have had the depth , edge or power that it does without Saiki in there.
I did not see this in the comments but you were surprised that she was there without Saiki. She sings this on the CD as well. I see where someone says that it's a break for Saiki but it's not so much a break as it is just playing one of their songs.
I just need to point out that this is a rare song where Kanami is doing backing vocals!

So, at first Jim Beam, then bass guitar? I'm not sure if this is the right order. Miku sings this song also on the album. And during this concert she had some trouble with her voice (maybe a cold?). But girls do not have the habit of recording compilations from several concerts.

This is a perfect illustration of why so few backup singers go solo. Miku's voice is very pleasant, but lacks power and control. She's killer cute, though! But I think she needs to be the center of attention, at least sometimes have the run of the stage. That may be a problem going forward...
Miku recognized her voice was too weak to be the lead which is why Saiki was hired, plus the 2 of them write the lyrics.
She came up with the idea of this band, and gave up being the lead vocalist with her own self-realization that her voice wasn't right for the style of music they wanted to do. She sings 1 song per studio album (and on the studio tracks her voice has great control---power is debatable, I have no examples to base an opinion on) which is suited to her style, which is a bit poppier and I even hear a bit of a jazzy tone in her vocals. She sings one song per show on stage and does 5 minutes or so audience participation to give the main vocalist, and the band a break (while she takes no breaks herself, and no one else in the band seems to want to do any type of solo spot) so they can do these 15 to 25 song sets....and what you get from that is she is a stage hog that needs to be the center of attention? Wow.....
And just curious, why do you think that may be a problem going forward?

I hope you didn't take my reply to you as being harsh, as it really wasn't intended to be, I was surprised more than anything else that someone got that vibe from Miku. I guess due to the language barrier and the fact that the Japanese bands/personalities tend to guard their private lives much more closely than their Western counterparts, anything could be possible. From what little I know about the band, Miku is actually the only one with any previous stage experience (she was in an idol group before Band Maid & did some acting apparently) and seems to be the only one who feels completely comfortable there even though she has the least ability as an instrumentalist. Even though the other 4 are accomplished musicians, I'm pretty sure all four only did studio work prior to joining.
My take is that Miku is quite aware of this magical thing she is a part of and is working very hard to do everything she can to make it explode on a major level (even if their management seems to drag them 2 steps back every step forward they take). I think that her outgoing personality is her role/identity even if it may not have been part of her original vision for the band. That vision, if anything, seems to have been pulled out from under her. She gave up being the main vocalist, Akane took over the leader role, she is now the backup singer, lyricist (with Saiki's approval from what I gather) & novice rhythm guitarist in the band that she hatched the idea for. Pretty selfless, if you ask me. However, she is the most popular member, does the majority of the promotional work, and has about 75% of the band's personality which keeps her place secure, I'm guessing.
Sidenote---Guns N Roses were doomed by drugs and a psychotic lead singer who couldn't get along with anyone. I don't know how much drugs factor into the Japanese rock scene, but I don't think Band Maid has an Axl.
Band Maid is Miku's band. She formed it, and she is the spokeswoman for the group in all of the media promotions. In the group interviews, one can see that Miku is in control from the design of the costumes to the style and direction of the music. The others continually defer to her. Miku writes the lyrics. Kanami writes the music. Akane is the rehearsal leader and organizer.

They always have her sing one song of hers during their concerts of the usual 20 to 25 songs - more than 2 hours. Saiki needs to rest her voice. And they always have Miku sing as a main vocal on one song on their albums.
I’ve actually seen them live, and was actually hoping miku would perform one of her songs, alas not. We were spoiled with her attempting the drums however
It took some time getting over the first few minutes, Miku is so annoying! Lay off the caffeine, slow down take a bong hit! But once the music started I found myself liking this tune
