ProjectLibre (formerly OpenProj) is open source project management software which is free to download and use. Find it at www.projectlibr....
In this video you will learn how to set up a project in ProjectLibre. You will learn how to start a project, how to add tasks and how to add subtasks. Learn how to set durations for your tasks and how to create precedents such as FS or finish to start dependencies.
You will see how the gantt chart is produced and how to determine tasks on the critical path. Learn how to save and open a project.
By the time you have finished this tutorial you should be able to create a basic project in ProjectLibre and have established the critical path for its completion.
This video is a quick start guide to ProjectLibre and suitable for getting anyone up and running with the software for business use including Human Resource management, Systems Development Life Cycle planning and more.

I agree w/ Mr. Mabusela....you just made my assignment easier. Our last assignment for the term is to create a gantt chart for training a group of data analysts. Thus, the last assignment requires us to learn a new software package. Project Libre is definitely easier than MS 2013 and you made it even easier still. Thank you, Project Woman!

Thanks, Helen. This is a very clear quick start guide. I'm not a PM. We don't have any PM's at this company and I have a very large project, which I'm running myself (all tasks including PM). And management would like to know where the project is at any given time. This sounds like the perfect tool.

hi. very nice tutorial
a small detail (that can is actually confusing for a majority) : open source doesn't mean it's free of charge. A large portion of open source projects are indeed free of charge but it just means that the source of the program is available.
Some project charge money to get the code (i.e IRedMail) some projects charge so you get more "advanced" versions or support services or hosting services...etc...
It has those properties
- secure : this is the only way you can guaranty that the software is secure because you can look at the source code and see what it really does (i.e. the episode the closed source software of VW that was cheating with the CO2 emissions)
- you can do what you want with the project (according to the license type) : you can take the fork it, improve it...etc...
