Low key, I think Gordon kept Elise as long as he did to keep her causing conflict. The whole premise of the competition is to challenge the future head chef to see if they can handle the stress of running the kitchen. Elise consistantly caused personal drama. If you want to run a kitchen, you need to be able to handle and control dramatic but challenging chefs. Cooking skills and ego often go hand in hand, so if nothing else dealing with Elise's ego would give him a good insight to see if the winner can manage that.
That makes sense cause if she made it close to the end that meant she would be in one of their kitchens and it proved right that Paul was a good executive chef for keeping her and everyone in check
the reason why gordon kept elise as long as he did was because she was way better than a lot of the other chefs there. she had way better leadership skills than jennifer, way better cooking skills than tommy and was overall more consistent than every other chef that was placed worse than her (ignoring jason of course). the reason why she got nominated a ton was because of her attitude.
I think Elise is decent when comes to abilities as a chef, but is superb when comes to generating ratings. She argues with everyone, drives everyone crazy, is unreasonable, lazy, and lies all the time. But all that drama, and making viewers wonder when she would be eliminated, kept people watching. And in the end, people watch Hell's kitchen for all the drama, not to watch how good the chefs actually are. (See season 13 for comparison) Tho that also made some of the eliminations pretty ridiculous and seems forced, because while Elise made all those mistakes, she was still spared and someone else who made a very minor mistake would get kicked instead.
To me, the drama shouldn't matter in shows like this. The contestants are fighting for a head chef position in one of GORDON RAMSAY'S RESTAURANTS with a salary of $250000. Why keep contestants around solely for drama when they won't win? That just screws other contestants that should've gotten further than they did.

I love how half of the people eliminated were applauded or embraced by the other contestants on their way out. Even Elise, the most unlikable person that season, by a good hug from the guys. That I feel shows a great deal of respect they all had for one another, even if there were some bad apples among them.
The amount of time they all spent together isn't limited to how many nights in the restaurant they spent working together. There seem to be times Gordon gave them breaks and vacation spots to hang out at.
Elise: I'm not here to throw anyone under the bus! *literally one second before* "he was here 2 times, he was here 2 times and he was here 3 times, this is my first time here!"

The blue team was so wonderful and gracious this season. I seriously loved all of them. Natalie was great, and the rest were real gentlemen. They all deserve a lot of credit.
The season 9 red team had the potential of being one of the strongest teams in HK history but the war between Elise and Carrie prevented that from happening
I love how the blue team applaud each other upon elimination, especially with Natalie. I also love how Will looks insulted that she went home before Elise, thus representing the entire audience
Ian Tetley sabrina from series 8 was pretty insecure. She constantly had to put other people down to make herself look better rather than her supposed skill speak for itself. She only looked promising to Ramsay because of her age- if she didn’t constantly bring up her potential for improvement because of her young age, she wouldn’t have made it past the first elimination. That says, no screams, insecurity to me.

@@JosePena-iy3ny disagree completely Tommy was one of the weaker black jackets in HK history he basically made a mistake in every single service in the first 4 services he got bailed out by weaker opposition in Steven, Brendan and Chino plus the blue team won the third service where he was the worst chef there and probably goes if they lose. Also after picking up midway at the Final 10 onwards he made a mistake in every service. At the final 10 his mistakes got overshadowed by Jonathon's dismal performance, at the final 9 his mistakes were cancelled out by the blue team winning service, at the final 8 he was put up for the chop but Carrie had been way worse and at the final 7 he was poor but Natalie's dismal performance on fish saved him. She just couldn’t say when she was in the wrong. But really she was an amazing chef and she had great leadership qualities. She just couldn’t say when she wasn’t right and that made people hate her. She was really good in the end because the other people she was with wouldn’t take her shit and I think that made her a better team player, it was really good to see how she kindve grew from who she was at the start at least.
Irene Clingmon thanks I just thought Elise shouldn’t get this much hate, She made it that far, I think she was great. And I saw the worst and the best parts of myself in her, so I guess that’s why I wanted to say something. Idk
"But really she was an amazing chef and she had great leadership qualities. She just couldn’t say when she wasn’t right and that made people hate her." A leader, while being able to lead, must also be able to take responsibility for their mistakes.
That actually a good point u made
That makes sense cause if she made it close to the end that meant she would be in one of their kitchens and it proved right that Paul was a good executive chef for keeping her and everyone in check
the reason why gordon kept elise as long as he did was because she was way better than a lot of the other chefs there. she had way better leadership skills than jennifer, way better cooking skills than tommy and was overall more consistent than every other chef that was placed worse than her (ignoring jason of course). the reason why she got nominated a ton was because of her attitude.
(See season 13 for comparison)
Tho that also made some of the eliminations pretty ridiculous and seems forced, because while Elise made all those mistakes, she was still spared and someone else who made a very minor mistake would get kicked instead.
