      Just make sure you get the right gear. I remember there being different ones, but don't remember how I figured out which one.

    Can you do a video on replacing the ignition switch? With or without removing the instrument cluster?

    adding to instructions below, I would add, the prosess below is always used for 911 vdo speedo's but twist both ways over and over (gently) may take 15 mins or more (be patient)
    on 928 have just done (some may differ as below process implies ) mine did indeed need to be pried off (very carefully )

    Love the part where they took the steering wheel off, had to modify a socket to do it. I remember taking a Mac impact inch and 1/16 inch socket and grind it on the side till it met the bolt, then used a 10 inch, 1/2 inch Drive extension, then loosen the not. I left the nut 1/2 inch turn from being flush with the steering shaft. I had put a piece of wood where the socket once was and have someone tap the wood with a hammer while I have my knees and arms pulling on the steering wheel away from the shaft. I'm dreading having to go back at this again, over twenty years later.

      I need to pull mine again and figure out what I did to make the stop lamp warning not work now too.

    Awesome vid! I was looking for how to take the gauge cluster out to upgrade to LEDs. Thanks to you it's all there in detail. I just can't believe you didn't put in LEDs while you were in there. Subbed, thumbs up. I'm guessing you're done with the car at this point as it was 3yrs+ ago? 👍

      well as with any project it's never really done. Granted I haven't done a ton to it recently, mostly just driving it around. Mechanically it's pretty well sorted, still could use some cosmetic work on some interior things, such as the doors.

    I just use my phones GPS and odometer app. I'm done fixing non essential stuff on my 1986 928 such as Cruise control, rear hatch power switch, odometer, windshield washer motor. I just drive it 😂

    Great video... thanks for sharing. One question... I have a ‘83 928S with a broken tach needle. Did your needle spin off or did you pry it/pull it off?

    • @IntenseBlue318
      @IntenseBlue318  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It pries off. Just make note of where it was pointing when you pull it off so you can put it back in the same orientation.

    Hi, I have the same problem in my 944 turbo, I just want to know if the odometer is damage cause of the drive gear, the speedometer will not work too? Mine is not working...

    • @IntenseBlue318
      @IntenseBlue318  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      my speedometer still worked, just the odometer didn't. the speedo needle uses the same signal, but isn't driven the same as the odometer.

    You have a much bigger problem;your car appears to be missing a pedal!

    There's an app for that not worth fixing.

    would have been really helpful if you had shown how you actually removed the needle, as that is the only difficult part of the process .

      It really isn't that hard. A plastic pry tool under each side (or one with a fork shape) and it comes right off.
