Easy fix thanks to this video - much appreciated! The new gear cost me $25 from Pelican Parts and I didn't charge myself for the labor ;)

Thanks for the video! I am a novice but stayed with it, a bit like brain surgery, but you can walk away for a break and coffee! Ha! Take your time, no rush, it took me 3 hours with breaks and hunting for tools and getting the cluster out of the car. The hardest part for me was finding a perfect size screw driver for the 2 speedo face black screws. I had to use a razor blade and took my time scrapping off the dried up grease on the shaft of the 20x21 gear I purchased from Ian Riley at 944online.com for my 1986 944. Also it took two tried to get the speedo back on at exactly zero, hold the speedo as you would view it in the car to get the right angle and alignment on the shaft at zero. This was my Covid19 project while bending the curve and WFH. I am upgrading the dash bulbs with LED, again, parts from Ian. Thanks very much!

It says that you have a video on how to remove the dash cluster on your TH-cam page as well. I cannot find it. Has it been taken down? Is there a link that you can supply for it? Really enjoyed the video, but hoping you have a detailed video for taking the dash cluster out as well. Thank you.

Hey Rick, did you notice you accidentally rolled that guy's odometer back from 214K to 180K? :) Nice video though. I need to repair that little gear on my 968. This was a big help. Thanks!

Herb, Thanks for the question. Look in our notes. We had to use a second odometer to complete the video. Thanks for watching.

Great video - this may be a daft question but why are these parts not made from something that will last - ie. metal?

Excellent video! QUESTION: Have a speedo which is in KPH, can the MPH face be used on it? i.e. swap out the KPH for the MPH?

I have an 89 S2 will the speedometer on any 1985.5 - 1991 speedometer work? Will automatic speedometers work on a manual cluster?

How do you remove it from the dash?

  • @brendonlind

I Dont know if you have this available to you but I need to know what one of the resistor value is on the board you removed in this video. I have a burnt one and can't identify it by color. If you can help it the one next to the green wire. Thank you
