    Easier to leave a depleted Patriots team after Brady already mastered the position under Belichik’s tutelage, go to a stacked team with a solid coach and elite defense and win the Super bowl than Belichik starting from a badly depleted team, develop a brand new QB with no guarantee, and win the SB after Brady left. Comparing the two circumstances is really intellectually lazy and shallow.

      @billshun3963 it's hard to maintain roster integrity drafting 25-32 every year. You never get any blue chip, near can't miss talents. In the NFL teams fall victim to their own success due to the way the draft is structured to reward bad teams.

    Sorry -- I disagree with Florio on the notion of "just tear up the contract." I think the Patriots SHOULD HAVE TO PAT Bill Belichick at least some sizable "buyout." It's NOT an issue of "Bill, you're going to get at least $25 Million/year from your new employer, there's no need to take any of our $$$." Rather, it's very much an issue of the following:
    a) BB was UNDER CONTRACT to be paid $25 Million/year by the Patriots in exchange for coaching them;
    b) the Patriots WANT TO FIRE Belichick and GET OUT FROM UNDER the CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION to pay BB $25M per year and allocate that $$$ towards the next coach they want to hire going forward; and
    c) BB has done NOTHING WRONG; he is NOT IN BREACH of CONTRACT, has committed no misconduct, and he is both READY and WILLING TO COACH the Patriots next year (desirous to do so in fact) ... so WHY SHOULD HE GET "NOTHING" from New England in exchange for getting sh!tcanned to the curb by the Patriots ????? Heck, even in marital divorces nowadays when one spouse tires of another and simply wants to move ahead with a "newer, younger, prettier new model," the spouse who is allowed to kick the other to the curb and walk away with a "no fault" divorce STILL HAS TO PAY $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to the jilted spouse (typically 50% of the marital assets) ... and the jilted spouse gets to keep the $$$$ even if another spouse who wants them comes along !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    So it's simply THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS ... New England/Kraft wants to BREACH its CONTRACT with Belichick and move ahead with someone new. Fine they can do that -- BUT NOT WITHOUT FINANCIAL COST. They are in essence "wronging" Belichick by breaking the contract and reneging on their promise to pay him $25 Million for coaching the Patriots in 2024 which he's ready, willing, and able to do. There is a sunk financial cost for doing that.

    Belichick might be a good start for new ownership who are creating mostly new management, because of the type of people and environment of the previous owner. He probably would not be greatly successful, but might help getting the deep management for a successful team in 5 or 10 years. He is not secret Super Bowl sauce, switching him in got McCarthy might be a downgrade, he is an offensive coach and has a top offense Belichick could turn that into bottom half.

    Belichick will not go to the Chargers is my guess, as California is way too WOKE for him.

    Mike Florio - Why don't you do a story about how your network NBC is working in cahoots with NFL/Roger Goodell on cheap ploy to drive up business on crappy streaming service Peacock? You all are supposed to be stewards of the game. How much is too much?

    I don’t understand why anyone would want to hire a 72 year old washed up coach and his Nepo kids

    I can’t believe bill is going to continue coaching and I would bet about anything that he is going to ruin his legacy

      Check out the Pats defensive stats. Then delete your silly post.

      @@msp5138 Unfortunately those defensive stats haven't kept, the team that he is in charge of on all draft picks & coaching, NE from sucking gopher balls since TB left.
      What's BB's record pre & post TB as his QB? Average \ poor. If he's so great, and he has had total control of all personnel and coaching decisions, he should have had the team back in contention, or at least the playoffs in 3 years post TB. I mean he's the greatest coach of all time, that's what the media keeps telling us.

      He's already the g.o.a.t. and after 15 more wins his legacy is something Noone will ever touch in our lifetime outside of maybe Andy Reid

      I love that reference. Mike used to use that to describe a video released with an apology that was not sincere. Specifically that Oklahoma State coach who made that phoney apology in regards to racist language he used. 😂
