This has been the best tutorial, best stew I've ever made. So many recipes call for tomato paste, and worsheshire sauce and so much other unnecessary ingredients that my grandmother and mother never used. Honestly, I'm so glad I came across your video. I'll be following you for more recipes. Simple ingredients, tastes incredibly healthy and home made. All it takes is some time and patience.
I adore Jenny :D She is so charmingly witty and creative. She is sincere and natural, there is absolutely no phoniness about her, PLUS she is incredibly intelligent and oh so very inspiring :) Thank you, Jenny.
The only way is moms way!! My mom has done this also I don’t ask anyone else how to make it and the brown and white 1980s crock pot is still in working order with the thick chunky glass lid!! She also draped a towel over it for some reason lol
The whole point of the flour is to dry the outer surfaces of the meat so it can brown properly. Pat your meat dry before browning and then if you want, flour it. Never try to brown “wet” meat as it won’t seal in juices....
Yes finally someone that knows how to make beef stew the right way! Thank you Jenny! Onions will taste gross if they're not caramelized and the beef will be too tough if they're cooked at the same time the vegetables are💜
I loved this video. I never knew how to cook the stew meat (its always on sale). Looks delicious. On another note. I looked at your face and thought, "Where do I know her from?" I had convinced myself that we met some years ago but then you said, "Don't touch it." Then it all hit me, this is JENNY JONES. I loved your show growing up.
I WATCHED THE JENNY JONES SHOW ALL THE TIME! YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON ❤️❤️ AND I AM GLAD I FOUND YOU...LOVED THE BARBEQUED RIBS IN OVEN..,MY HUSBAND SAYS IT WAS. THE BOMB. BKESSINGS FROM MISSOURI !
Yes! A Soap Opera!! Don't know if you are from the 50's but the ladies on the SOAPS woke up every morning with their hair in place, makeup perfect and vacuuming in high heels
Jenny teaches her recipes like a gentle, sweet mother. She is definitely natural and so clear in her explanation. I am Polish, too, Jenny. I make pierogi, golabki, etc.
My mom passed away a couple months ago. I took all her wonderful food for granted sometimes and didnt learn how to make some of it..I sure miss her every day....thank you for making this video
For those of you that don't really like to use flower to thicken the stock , try some instant potatoes at the end of the cooking cycle. I use them on all my juices to thicken and it works great, just a thought, thank you Jenny for the wonderful recipes.............Yum!
You are my ‘ go to gal’ for recipes and the reason is when I made Your hash browns just like you say d and they turned out perfect!! I love the way you describe how to recipes!! I’ve been knowing you since you had your own talk show!!
Just made the stew for dinner tonight. It is the most delicious stew ever. The meat is so buttery tender and the rest of the ingredients just blend in wonderfully. Followed the recipe to the letter. Jenny I was a big fan of your talk show and am a bigger (and older) fan of your cooking channel.
Home run. Thanks for sharing this. Just got done partaking. Reminded me of my mom, who made this frequently when we were growing up. She went home to be with The Lord in December. Thanks again, excellent video!
You, my dear Jenny, are a total joy to watch and listen to....."....cooking with heels and an apron today is a whole other video"...:) :) :) you are too funny and may I say very pretty too. Love your personality and so glad I found your channel!!!
I making this tonight for my family! You made me laugh at the beginning when someone threw you gloves! I love all your recipes and your big personality! I like your homemade simple recipes. Great job!
When I was growing up, my mom would chase me out of the kitchen while she was cooking, the thinking being that I would have a wife to cook for me then. She was wrong. I'm a single, live-alone guy, so I generally open a can, throw it in a pan, heat it up, eat it up and clean it up. Your recipe for beef stew is easy and absolutely delicious (takes a little time, though). Thanks.
Growler6t6 If I had a son I would have him help me in the kitchen and with household chores as much as possible and tell him that's how you need to treat your wife or girlfriend make sure you always do everything together equally since I am a housewife I don't want my kids thinking that this is all that women should be doing.
Why would she assume that.... know what, not going there. Lol. I'm just glad you are watching the video and you're learning how to prepare tasty meals! 👍
I found you because I was looking for a great recipe for a simple beer stew. My wife likes to do it in a crockpot. The kids never liked it that way. After cooking it up this afternoon they all agreed it was the best. Thanks 😊
Jenny, delicious looking stew...Loved your final comment, most woman these days are lacking class...Take me back to the 50's when life was simpler & people valued morals. ;)
Jenny, I'm 62. I always wondered how mom and Nana made their beef stew. Thank you SO much for shoeing me. I left out the celery because I never saw celery in their stew but it is dead on and omg good. Thank you so much for showing me. Kim from Pepperell, Mass.!
Hi Jenny. I am from malaysia but I used to live in the USA for 10 years and remember you for your talk show. Your recipes are amazingly easy and it works everytime.. Kudo's to you!!!
Jenny - Thank you! I followed your recipe to the letter and honest to god - you sure can cook! The stew I made tonight, following you, blew us away it was so good. I will always, from now on make beef stew your way. I really do thank you for sharing your expertise and talent and I really enjoy your show - you are uplifting, fun and sincere and have most definitely made a positive difference at our table tonight (and future beef stew nights) (btw, I added turnip and peas)... I will be following your lead in the kitchen for other recipes and methods you've posted ... bless you! :)
Jenny, I cooked in heels with a apron tied around my waist. In the 60's. I thought it was normal, I watched ms. Beaver. 😁 I just love watching your videos. You are a excellent cook! I have tried a couple of your recipes. Thank you👍❤😋
Our family's favorite beef stew! I've been making it exactly as demonstrated since you first made this video. Thank you for the dozens of times this has come through for us in the last seven years! I have a pot of it on the stove right now :)
Ah, this is the video I need. Making beef stew for an elderly parent. It has to be super easy to chew and swallow, and it has to be on the bland side with little sodium. This should do the trick. Thank you, Jenny!
Oh my goodness I can't believe I found you i grew up watching your t.v show in the 90s now you have a cooking show which I found so cute and love your kitchen and your silly humor I defenitly a fan all over again by the way my stew came out great thanks for the video 😊
Great recipe and video. Love the tip on store bought beef stock being too overpowering. But I would not trim the fat from the beef. Fat adds great flavor and helps in the browning. Your TV background makes this so easy to watch. There is no fumbling and awkwardness. You found your second calling!!
Making this right now. Smells so good. My favorite part of Jenny's vid is the end and the comment about the apron and high heels LOL. The look on her face says it all.
This '50's' style homemade beef stew is truly melt in your mouth, better than my mom's GOOD! Thank-you Jenny for sharing. Two thumbs up for this classic!
This is Jenny's happy kitchen !!!! ,color is good .**********and lots of utensils no problem ,so people don't criticize her kitchen I think it's adorable .. Love you JENNY.....
You have a cheery kitchen ,it makes one happy and in the mood to cook.Fo that reason I changedmy kitchen from black andwhite to awonderful multi colored kitchen. Thanks for he inspiration !
I just finished making my second run of this recipe...the first one came out OK but the meat I used was Angus Beef stew meat...was not that "tender". I should have listened to Jenny and got the "real stew meat". Went to local Market Basket and the the 85% lean stew meat......WOW, what a difference in just the meat choice as the meat would just come apart like Jenny had on the video. I usually don't eat red meat but wanted to make this a 2nd time. I was very greedy and did not share it with any of my friends as I usually give some of my cooking away...that is how good this beef stew came out this time. Jenny has the best recipes as I have many of them bookmarked for later reference...thank you Jenny.

I love the way she carefully explains how to brown the meat!
Great job! You explain each step even better than some of the professional chefs I've seen! Thanks so much!!
I adore Jenny :D She is so charmingly witty and creative. She is sincere and natural, there is absolutely no phoniness about her, PLUS she is incredibly intelligent and oh so very inspiring :) Thank you, Jenny.
Totally agree!! Class act!
I love her! Her gorgeous voice too!
Thank you Jenny. You are the best cook. I love watching you in the kitchen making food but my favorite is your sense of humor.
My grandpa always coated the beef with flour to help thicken stew. Also isn’t a lil fat ok because it just melts off and makes tons of flavour.
Super lean beef doesn't seem to go as tender, either - it may go *soft* if you cook it long enough and low enough, but it's not the same!
I LOVE a bit of fat
MY Mom does that aslo coats the beef in flour
The only way is moms way!! My mom has done this also I don’t ask anyone else how to make it and the brown and white 1980s crock pot is still in working order with the thick chunky glass lid!! She also draped a towel over it for some reason lol

I just love Jenny, her recipes are amazing and she's so fun to watch.
Jenny can cook, love her recipies, they are never wasted time, worthy of making
I almost passed out laughing when the gloves were thrown! That was so unexpected! Thank you! I really needed to laugh!
Hiarious!!
And more so the way she took it all in stride.
Love beef stew.❤

Jenny teaches her recipes like a gentle, sweet mother. She is definitely natural and so clear in her explanation. I am Polish, too, Jenny. I make pierogi, golabki, etc.
The glove bit was hilarious. Lol
I don't think Jenny liked it by the look on her face, she's a good sport though and didn't edit it out. Thanks Jenny.
@Sea Pilot: She planned it, you failed to see the humor.
I was confused
I loved it ahah im still laughing
I like the glove humor...glad she did not say "I usually use a cast iron skillet...where is my skillet?" LOL
I love how happy she was to pull out the final product, im making this right now for a bunch of people :P
Fantastic best instructions on how to get melt in youre mouth beef without making the veggies disappear - thanx

The apron and high heels tip really helped me out! Cooking is certainly different in my house now.
Easy steps I can follow. I really appreciate that you took time to explain what cut of beef and why. Also, tip about chicken stock very helpful.
Jenny can cook! Her recipes are easy to follow. Instead of doing mine on the stove, I normally do mine in the slow cooker.
Watching this I also have decided to try this in my crockpot.
What a colourful and gifted lady! Thankyou for your lovely videos! God Bless. 😊

I like more veggies in my stew, like peas and cut green beans with all the other ones shown here. Mmmm, looks good!!

I was thinking the same thing. I would like some peas in with that. But it looks really good.
I would add, w/k corn, green beans and mushrooms and also tri color bell pepper.

I did this. Some of the best eating I ever done!
"Where's my gloves?" That was awesome! Just like your stew :)

This is one of the best cooking videos. I remember when the food Network and cooking channel were like this
You should add the onions fist, garlic four minutes later. Its important to chop the garlic 5 to 10minutes early to release the allicin.
Make your own video
I like your sense of humor. I always get a chuckle out of your show, and you make simple recipes that I can cook, thanks.
