- I find an Amazing Ancient arrowhead in this upload. Also tips for success and what I look for on the river to increase my chances at success. You can do this too. All it takes it s little effort. Arrowhead Hunting the Ohio River.

I found some more stuff n this spot today....but nothing as nice as this point. Got a decent Bird Point...I will give it away in the next video. Several broken heart breakers as well

Thanks 👍 I got really lucky on that piece. I went back there today and dug for 2 hours in the same spot at least....and only found 1 little arrowhead. But there is so much flint there...it is everywhere

Yea its not bad.....Better than average for this place. I went back and made another video the next day on the same place....found some decent things...but nothing this nice. hopefully I ca get a nice Amos point before October. I looked all day yesterday for one and came up empty

Thanks so much! It doesnt have a classic Dove Base....but has characteristics of a Dovetail. I really dont know what else to call it. It is a week maker for sure.

Better get in while the gettings good, Hurricane Ida will be forcing it's way through Ohio Valley with crazy storms within a day or two.

@@deemoore8421 I think a lot of people think that....but it is not really the case. The rain most of the time messes it up.....the high waters floods are what actually wash points out. Like that site I was on the last week with the Mississippian points...I have sifted it all, I may find one after the rain....maybe. But unless the water egts over the tops of the banks.. FLOOD LEVEL it will not do much for me. I am a digger not a surface hunter. Walking the beaches of the Ohio river this time of year you would be lucky to get 2 videos a month looking 3 or 4 times a week. If I do not move around over vast distances on the river....there is no way I could get uploads like this. Even after a high water....only and handful of artifacts wash out of the bank.

Yea....i wish I could find more like this one. I went back the next day and sifted at least 5 hours...came up with 1 nice point....several broken points.....it is a shame all those logs and trash are washed in on the shores....otherwise I think I would be finding a bunch of stuff. I cannot even sift on that shell Midden at all.....there is 3ft of logs and trash on that place. I am hoping this rain that is coming washes some of the stuff out

It has a little different base than a TRUE DOVE......but it has characteristics of a dovetail. Id say it is comparative in age.....I found this in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. The site has everything on it from all time periods....I will have to have several people look at this I know....I think it is Dovetail related....but not 100%

A month Maker Id call it.....not a find of a lifetime like so many here would Click bait you with.Ill probably find a smoker Amos sometime here by the end of they year that in all reality...will blow this away. if this was twice as big and made of some killer translucent material.....maybe could call it find of a lifetime.

The dovetail is just incredible! Squirrel Man is having a blast getting his bath. As usual he started chirping and barking when you picked him up. He's hilarious. Excellent. I'm at the point now that I hit the like button even before watching so I can get to the end and not have it go to the next video LOL. Squirrel Man is a hoot! Killer point too.
Rocks, maybe might worth trying the Huk Performance Fishing shirts. i fish using the hooded long sleeve ones. They're vented, quick drying, very breathable, and I use them as sunscreen. But, I've noticed that the horseflies don't bother me. I also wear the gloves to fish for the same reasons. I wet wade for smallies in the creeks and rivers near me in MD and VA, but this gear could help you (or a different brand, I have several but like the Huk the best). Anyway, I also collect fossil shark teeth, that's my thing (and fishing) like collecting points is your thing, and this performance gear works great for that too. I haven't worn the long pants yet wading. I have some, just prefer shorts. That's where the biting insects get me when I get out of the water. The shirts are not as hot as you'd think either, very breathable. Best wishes and I look forward to more of your vids.

That's my favorite point/knife that you have found all year! You're wise to leave when you hear thunder! Lighting struck a tree in my yard and I was only 10' away a few years ago. The concussion threw me down and I thought for a minute that I was possibly dead. It cracked the concrete in my garage because it followed the rebar inside to where I was standing. Take care and your swimming squirrel made my day😆
Yea.....it is one of the best. And Oh I know on the thunder...I have a metal paddle. I have had it strike trees around me before..that is one thing that scares the crap out of me. I see the black clouds coming...my butt is rowing as hard as I can back to the boat ramp...LOL

I went back and sifted probably 5 hours the next day in the same place....nothing like this though...found stuff.....some bird points and broken ones.

That point is wild. It's HUGE! And it looks perfect. Absolutely amazing. The horse flies are terrifying.
Its not that big....Its just a little bigger than usual off that place. I usually find smaller bird points there....I went back the next day and sifted a long time and found points that would fit on a quarter.
I like your arrowhead hunting videos the best because I was an avid hunter in my younger years. The marble videos are so cool and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge since I am a new collector. Squirrel Man is awesome and your special bond with him is heart warming.
Thank You Allen. I was out earlier today and the conditions took a turn for the worst. Raining and the river is going up fast. I found a few end scrapers that are decent but had to cut the hunt short. I would rather be arrowhead hunting everyday......I just have to do that other stuff so I can make a little money here.

I just hope I can find some more real nice ones like this. I went back the next day and stayed the majority of the day...I found some stuff....but nothing like this. It is a shame all that wood and trash is washed in there...otherwise I think I would really be finding them.

Thanks 👍 I just hope that junk washes out....I am serious dana...I took a truck load mounded over of trash out of there in 2 trips. And there is still so much trash I could never pick it all up. If those logs were not on that shore...I would be finding at least 10 there a trip. It is such tough digging there.....I went back the next day and only found 1 nice one in hours and hours if sifting. I know another nice one is in there...it is ust being able to find it or get to it. I am hoping this hurricane weather will raise the water enough to wash it all away. That Shell Midden...i cannot even dig there.....I was hoping to

Those flowers look like some kind of hibiscus.
I think so. i think this is a year old...but I have seen similar ones this year...of all different colors. There are thousands of them on the river. I have probably seen 500 of them in the past month. Most of them are big white flowers with red/maroon on them. But some are blue and yellow and other colors

Yea that is not bad....it is not as big as it looks though...LOL. It is only like 3/4 inches bigger than the average stuff I find....kind of nice though. I like the bifurcate better I found a few days ago
It's really wierd here in colo sometimes you have to clean off some dirt but it's amazing how those points from the river bank and creeks they just change so much when they dry out !
Yea....most always lighten in color.....they do "Dry Out"....sometimes over a week long time frame a point will go from black to a totally different color. They lay in that wet mud for years and years.....it is odd.

@@rockscousteau yeah I'm fairly local to ya. I've fished those banks you sift. I'm gonna start sifting and searching southern WV around Beckley and paint creek. I found a few pieces of worked hematite. One was an atlatl weight that looks like they were trying to grind into arrowheads. I also have hit the antique shops ya go to even though it's been a long time. Hoping to get back up that way soon. Once I get my content together and posted. Give it a view if ya would. Thanks

Yo Rocks, that was an amazing point. What period is that from.? Squirrel man was a Navy Squirrel for awhile. Lol why not use the Mokai if your going so far. A big investment to let collect dust.
Early Archaic. Id say it is some type of Dovetail Variant. Id say it is like 8,500-9,000 years old
Been looking for a good wire screener like you use in your videos, but I’m not able to find one, other than no handles and then too heavy.
Where did you get your metal and plastic screener?
Try amazon....they are industiral dishwasher trays for silverware. The dishwashers like in a big kitchen.....

I have entire pots I have dug out of middens in the 1990's. They all have a little missing....but some dont have much missing

It really isnt that big...it is just a little bigger. Itis like a week maker....the material could be better. I found a batter point yesterday.....better material. I just listed the video

It is a mighty fine point, and it does appear to have some St. Charles in it's base. What I would give to hunt a day or two along the Ohio. I can tell you good luck but I think you've already got that covered!
