Our trip around the world continues. We visited several Caribbean Islands and enjoyed snorkelling and swimming until a shark attacked a turtle right next to our boat.

Nice stopover in the Caribbean. Poor turtle ... it's cold in the back. We are looking forward to the rest of your journey. Bravo Birte for this beautiful report.

I've read multiple reviews about the terrible build quality of the Neel Trimarans. Every time i ask Neel they don't respond and remove my questions from their videos or facebook page. I'm curious what your experience was and if you hired an independent project manager to oversee the build of your beautiful yacht?

Neel does not allow to oversee the building process, however we were able to visit at different stages and had a surveyor with us on the day of hand-over. But the surveyor focused on cosmetic issues and not so much the technical side. So that did not help much. Since we bought or boat Neel has improved with after sales care. If you are interested in more detailed information have a look here: neelownersgroup.createaforum.com/all-length/
or contact us via our home page: trimaran-san.de We have made WhatsApp calls with several interested Neel buyers already to share our experiences. We are also planning to make some videos to show what we have added to our boat to make it more suitable for bluewater sailing. But with everything that's going on, that will take some time yet.

Just noticed the name of your bout actually is "Three" - " 三 ". Start wondering do you have association with China or culture/language there. Personally I was living there for almost three decades.
Really appreciate your videos and the chance to see much more of your boat - it really looks amazing

      Hi Marin,
yes, the boat name means "three". As we are both technical persons, we needed a no nonsense name and it had to be short. This name is very easy to spell on the radio: "sierra-alpha-november". The boat has three hulls and it is the third boat type, that we are sailing with. To make it a bit more exotic, we chose the Japanese/chinese word for three. We lived for one and a half years in Japan and we are planning to sail to Japan during our trip. So, with the kanji on the side of the boat, we are already prepared for that episode :)

@@birtefilms I do really envy, in a good way, about your boat and the trip you have. It's a joy to follow your journey.
Couple of months ago with my partner started thinking about a boat, and for now Neel's are on the top of my list - combination of comfort and sailing performance. Following closely all solar, hydro-regeneration and etc. energy related discussions. Just finished (almost) - final strokes by Sep, of automated electrical heating system in my home aiming to reduce energy consumption by over 70% (nothing fancy - just thermo-battery, electronics and SW). Quite interested in all automatons and efficient energy generation/conservation/usage on a boat as well.
      Have a great journey!
PS. Yes, waiting for your detailed boat tour and really interested in your technical room and all systems. Thanks :)

21:10h At first sight it looks like a tiger shark... I'd rather not take the morning dip in the water. "Humans tastes almost like a turtle, but without a can around it" is a common saying among shark gourmets ;-)

Yes, we have been double careful about going swimming. But we are not in that bay anymore. Then again, here in Panama, you also have to look out for crocodiles......

@@birtefilms Well, if it has crocodiles, at least you'll be safe from sharks. They say that there are either sharks or crocodiles in one section, but never both together.
I don't believe that this is true, but it would calm me down like this ;-)

The videos are nice, but the music is terrible....

    • @birtefilms
      @birtefilms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Music is always a difficult subject. Tastes are very different. I use the TH-cam Audio Library for the music in my videos. I think, showing pictures without any sound, would not be as nice. But as I had comments like yours before, I try to leave the original sound in the sailing scenes.
