    Great video. I bought my catrike 14 years ago for about $1200. Still riding the same trike today. So, $85 a year, I can live with that. I did add electric 3 years ago which cost more than the original cost of the trike but well worth it. I didn’t do it so I could go fast, I did it so I could ride longer and farther without hurting my knees and back. I ride a lot on rural trails and I don’t want to go fast, I want to take my time and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. A trike is a long term investment in your health. I am seeing more and more trike riders these days. You can’t go wrong with a trike.

    After a stroke, I couldn't ride my road bike due to balance issues. I finally decided to look into a recumbent trike. A few months later I bought a Catrike Villager and am in love with riding again. Get a trike, it'll change your life and may even save it.

      Greg, that's amazing! A trike can be totally liberating and so easy to ride.

    Wife and I got into trikes about 10 years ago. Just graduated to a couple of Catrike e-trikes this year and love them. I don't think they look lame at all. I get lots of interested looks from people as I ride by. They are a blast to ride and MUCH easier on the body than a bicycle for a long ride.

    Hey Mickey, I really appreciate these videos but I have one complaint. I've been watching your videos for over a year and I finally took the plunge and bought a trike. I found out that you've been holding out on people, there's a secret you haven't been telling people. Trikes are REALLY FUN! I know that exercise is good for me and all that stuff but the main thing is riding a trike is an absolute blast. I haven't had this much fun since I was a kid. I ride around my neighborhood in the evening with a giant smile on my face, other people see the trike and it makes them smile. I'm sitting in a comfortable chair, I can go as slow as I like, I can easily stop and talk to my neighbors. Who cares about going fast. Come on Mickey you've got to let people know the secret: Trikes are REALLY FUN! (By the way I found a really nice 17 year old ICE Trice for a very affordable price.) Thanks again for all the great videos.

    Mickey, Great video! The common reason I have heard from others why they are not triking is the visibility issue. I think that is very legitimate. I ride my Dumont in the very early mornings (0300) in town and county roads with bright lights and I can easily see another car (I see headlights in my mirror) and they see me. When I rode a few times in the afternoon (lights on and flag!) I nearly got hit twice. I avoid daytime riding on the roads unless I am on paved bike trails.

      @LaidBackCycles  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any type of cycling near cars carries risk, but it's great you're increasing visibility with lights and a flag! Cycling in safety is all about stacking up each of the safety elements and practices.

      @darrenbeachy4567 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LaidBackCycles Yes indeed it does. I do think, however, trike riding near cars carries a greater risk of getting hit than does riding an upright bike. I've ridden both and still prefer the 'Laid back' Dumont :)

    We bought both of our trikes from out of state dealers, and they shipped them to us. No problem!

      @LaidBackCycles  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's awesome. Many people don't have a shop near by, so buying from a good trike dealer that ships works.

    Good video mate .
    I wish we had more trike shops in my neck of the woods ( Melbourne Australia) , I had to drive 2+ hours into the country to find a trike shop ( glad I did though )😊.
    It is a bit weird that in the general community and even some big bike shops in the city , you mention recumbent bikes , and they have no clue what a recumbent bike is , and that is a big shame.

      Let's keep spreading the word how great recumbent trikes are. Hopefully soon all bike shops will carry them.

    Price was a thing for me. I wanted to motivate myself enough to bike before I make the jump. And since I was worried I might have issues with easily getting the thing inside at my job, I went with a 2 wheel recumbent to start. I love the damn thing so much because it is comfortable as heck. It's not too stable but practice makes perfect.
    Once I'm fully committed to full time biking, I may very well upgrade to a trike.
    Love those videos.

    Proper fit is essential. been working with my dad to get him on a trike of some sort. Thing is he's a bit overweight and not very flexible. sat him down in a fairly deep recumbent and while he found it comfortable he was not able to lift himself back out of the seat without help.

    • @LaidBackCycles
      @LaidBackCycles  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try a trike with grab handle to help get out of the seat, Catrike makes a great one.

    My wife has had a Catrike for a while and I agree that transportating a single trike is pretty easy. Ive been getting envious of her ride (and battery) but now I'm wrestling with how to transport two trikes. What are good solutions for carrying two trikes?

    Anyone take used trikes to sell on consignment? I sold my old tandem trike on consignment years ago through People Movers, but they're not there anymore. My current GS GTO has been hanging on a rack in my home for a long time. I'm unable to walk, or even ride anymore, so looking to sell it, and think a trike shop would be a better representative seller than myself.

      Some trike shops do take used models on for consignment. I would just check with a couple of your local shops. You could also list it on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or similar platforms.

    I bought my trike from a bicycle shop that sells an occasional trike. They have been very willing to work with me, but they are not fluent in trike issues. Since then, I have visited trike shops that also sell bikes. The difference in expertise makes it worth the drive.
    Sitting on my trike, I have a different view than my friends on upright bikes. I've seen snakes on the trail, found morel mushrooms beside the trail, and watched a hawk catching a snake near the trail. Dogs tend to be curious about this strange contraption. I frequently stop to let the dogs investigate me and I'm at a good height to pet the friendly ones (and that is most of the dogs).

    Living in Virginia, there's not much choice for dealers. I would think twice about going to one who sells bikes also because the two compete for service. I've got two trikes, a delta and a tadpole. The delta was delivered to my door but thrown off the truck with extreme wheel damage. The tadpole (I love) I had to drive in my car, hundreds, and hundreds of miles (I'm no spring chicken).
    If trike dealers could make arrangement with car dealers to use their distribution channels. Maybe?
    Distribution issues loom for trikers. Trikers for Truckers? A Triker Division of Amazon?
    I Love My Trike!
