When I saw that battery fan I'm like oh yeah this guy's knows how to keep from cooking in this kind of weather. I bought one a couple years ago, wouldn't do with out it now. 👍🙂
Thank you my friend! And thanks for being part of the hvac community we have here. The more combined years of experience we have in the community the better off it is. Have you considered joining our Discord. I'm trying to create a space where there's lot's of experienced techs that can provide advice to fellow techs struggling with this or that issue. discord.gg/pVH9C44u
@@HVACLife Thanks for the invite. I wish I could take you up on your offer but I’m working too many days with long hours right now. If things change for me I’ll let you know.
slap some JB weld on that split collar and wrap a ratchet strap around it for an hour and thats what we call a permanent temporary fix haha. You are right about the HVAC / mechanic tool divide too. never got that. ive been using gear pullers since i was an apprentice as i started out in a very old factory environment with some real dinosaurs teaching me. but i see guys 10 years older than me who wouldnt even have considered them to get a pulley off, most dont even know about a good old inertia drop. Your right about the mechanics too. those all in one machines they have run em thousands they could get a set of guages, a nitro guage and a vac pump for 1/4 of the cost. Great videos man love your work.
Thank you my friend! I'm really glad to hear that I'm not the only one who feels that way. I totally agree, cross training in the trades is essential to developing higher levels of skill. Similar to how the UFC is now dominated by MMA because the very strict singular fighting styles got eliminated early on! You've been involved in this community for awhile now from what I can remember. Any chance you would want to join our Discord? I'm hoping to get lots of experienced techs on the forum so that techs struggling with something will always have access from help! discord.gg/pVH9C44u
You’ve got all the space in the world out there to get the job done broski. Imagine doing all that with same size motor inside an air handler. Job well done 👍
I'm the same with the 1/2 impact , I always need to finish with a hand ratchet just to gauge how much torque was applied . I love my impact driver for loosening but for tightening I need my calibrated hands !
I got it from a local safety gear supplier. It’s for fall protection. You’re not supposed to use the fall protection carabiner to wrap over and latch onto it’s own lanyard so a giant carabiner is the only thing that will latch onto things like a lift basket. I think this is it or similar… WestFall Pro 7430 Steel Carabiner - 8-1/4” x 5-1/2” - 45 kN, 3,600 lbs. - ANSI Compliant, Construction Accessories, Heat Treated Alloy Steel, Auto Twist Lock, Fall Protection Carabiner Clip a.co/d/5oqhnsT
Sorry I should have gotten a better shot of that...I realized in editing that I the shot was too far away. It's split on the side opposite the shaft key and the crack was at the key. The normal split allows the collar to fit then the collars taper pulls everything tight just like a mandrel on a die grinder!
Yeah unfortunately the motor was shorted to ground. I might try and take it apart but I doubt I'll have time. I definitely want to rebuild those motors if they have a bad bearing though...I think the chance to success at that repair would be pretty good.

Yeah man idk why they’re not more common!
Just got mine a couple weeks ago. 100%
Been in the trade over 30 years but I picked up a lot of great tips from your video. Keep em coming!

Yeah it gets worse doesn't it lol! I once changed a blower assembly that I would fit inside of. That blower wheel was heavy AF lol!
@@HVACLife I definitely can relate!
Split collar 😂 been there. That set screw is sneaky
Hahaha yeah it's amazing the chicken salad we constantly make out of chicken shit! 😅

Right on bro! 💯
Where did you get the big ass hook.

So, did the collar break? I’m not familiar with those.

@@HVACLife thank you,!
Nice job, that was a big ass motor. Do you know if that facility is going to rebuild the old motor, I am sure those are cheep. 🤘
