Just before the heatwave started I took myself off to the Sperrins to tackle a track I discovered on Mountainviews.ie. After a few weeks of dry weather the ground was dry and not like the usual Sperrins terrain but I still managed to way underestimate how long the walk would take.
Come along and join me in this beautiful part of the western Sperrins that I haven't walked in before and find out why I can't wait to go back!

Enjoyable as always, Niall. Thanks for sharing this, as well as the Craignamaddy & Mullaghbolig videos. Nice country, the Sperrins.
The Sperrins get a bad rep but I enjoy visiting them 🙂
Enjoyed sharing your walk.
Thank you 😊
Great video, I just love the peaceful remoteness of the area. Very best wishes🙂...
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂 👍
Nice to have generated a plan for another day Niall 😉 You seemed to enjoy your day! Hope you got home in time for the training and dinner 🤞
Just about Miriam 🤣 I really did enjoy it, hope to get back before the end of the Summer 🤞
Nice hike Niall I enjoyed that beautiful place a good way from Cork
Definitely, but worth the trip 😉🙂
Cracking weather pal. Lovely hills. Love a good 9le ramble. Love to see your "2nd" drone flying high 😊 great job man. Keep them coming.
Thanks Martin, still learning the ropes with the drone and keeping away from waterfalls 🙈
Hi Niall , looks like a nice part of the country 👍. Sometimes, it is hard to judge how much time it is going to take to complete a hike. If only you had one of those Garmin GPS watchs 😂. Hope you got home in time for dinner. Really enjoyed watching your hike. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Thanks Andrew, didn't end up divorced at least 🤣
Really enjoyed this Niall, I love the Sperrins, vast and lonely, they evoke emotions in me that the Mournes just don't. When you showed your intended route of the day, I thought - there's a brave man - that's a long haul! I intend to walk over Meenard mountain sometime this year from that exact starting point to check out some of those little river valleys, looking forward to it 🙂
Thanks 👍 The Sperrins get a rough rep but I love them too. Looking forward to going back although the route I have planned is pretty long too 🙈 I'll just need to start earlier and allow plenty of time that day 😊 Thanks for watching 👍 🙂
Niall, it is definitely a bit of a slog to get to Mullaghsallagh (not too many of those willow trees about these days)👣A breezy one and loved you getting some shelter from that lonesome pine🌲😊Loved the beetle🪲 The 1:25000 provide great mapping for the Sperrins and other areas in N. Ireland. The Sperrins were looking their gloriously boggy best and it is always good to have unfinished business👍
Thanks Gerry. I do really enjoy the Sperrins and can't wait to go back 🙂
The place names are interesting. Sallagh -as in Salix (Willow and Aspirin). Cricket bats made from Willow - the best company is named Salix.
Like Scotland, a lot of Irish hills have very descriptive original names 🙂 Thanks for watching 👍 🙂
