Who's stirring the waters in the South China Sea? Tensions have flared over a disputed reef - known as Ren'ai Jiao in China and Second Thomas Shoal internationally. Over the past month, the waters have become choppier with skirmishes erupting frequently in the vicinity. The debate over navigation rights and territorial claims is increasingly heated. Let's separate fact from fiction and get to the bottom of it. #southchinasea #military #cgtn #thepoint #liuxin

Philippine ships did NOT bump into Chinese ships that were there illegally any way! Chinese ships water blasted Philippine ships, cut off supply from the mainland to the Philippine base, used laser to blind, rammed Philippine fishing vessles, even used sonar to blast and injure Australian navy divers who were in Japanes waters at the invitation OF the Japanese.

where is your evidence that they rammed Philippine fishing vessels? Anyone who saw the video of the supposed ramming on Friday would acknowledge there was no ramming. the vessels sailed close to each other, which is not ramming.
the second Thomas shoal is a low tide elevation and thus any ship ca be there legally as long as they are not exploiting the resources of the EEZ.The problem is whose EEZ does the area belong to especially as the UNCLOs decision was perverse and whose judges were biased
Also the Philippines has no legal claim to any feature in the Spratly Island group as shown in treaty after treaty then it can't be illegal.
The Philippines never even knew of its existence till the late 50's, even then the Philippines never claimed it until 1978
as for the Australian divers, they were injured by a Japanese sonar pulse. not Chinese. Moreover, if the Australians did not inform nearby ships that they had Divers disentangling their propellers then they have only themselves to blame regardless of who was emitting the sonic pulse.

The first country to militarise the spratly Islands was the Philippines which until 1956 never even knew they existed. While every major country recognised that they belonged to China and stated as much in treaties and legal pronouncements,
Te UNCLOS decision was perverse in that for the first time it claimed an island that had been inhabited by humans for years, had its own fresh water supply, was fertile, and had ample fishing was not an island, thus reversing all previous decisions. The fact that the judges come from countries all allied to the USA and who reversed their previous legal arguments showed the decision was political.

The US has close to 1000 military bases outside its country. (So you know, there are less than 200 countries worldwide… meaning it has multiples in various countries. And the US military is unwanted in many of those countries).

Now that Japan is thinking of rearming itself other than for self-defense and joining up with the US, seems like Japan has clearly forgotten who drop 2 atomic bombs on their 2 cities...
Last point after Japan decided to release treated radiated water into the ocean shows that Japan only care for itself and not the environment and the feelings of its neighbors and of course the US and the west supported Japan on this move since they are so far away from this release we already know of their double standards already in Gaza vs Ukraine so I dont think people should be surprise.

No country owns anything of the sea that does not borders on it. , the Scarborough Shoal, and the Vereker Banks. The nine dashes extend from the coast of China's Hainan Island, close to the coast of Vietnam, and into the South China Sea. The line covers approximately 90% of the South China Sea, which is 3.5 million square kilometers or 1.4 million square miles.

Would US Coast Guard have been so pampering and so gentle in using blocking and water cannon? Obviously not. Do you think the people on-board or this Philippine vessel that survived previous multiples attempts in intrusions be still here and intact today? No.
US and Japan who are currently interfering in South China Sea issues wouldn’t have been so kind to the intruding Philippine vessels. US and Japan coast guards would do chasing, onboard searches, shoot to kill, arrested fishermen, seized fishermen’s boats and actively rammed their boats many years ago. Other coast guards around the world would have used these more aggressive and invasive operations.

Finally, a robust view of the true American geo-strategic objective in the region. American foreign policy and especially their military bases, is likened to their global franchise of fastfood outlets, the Americans have learnt the art of being the Global Sheriff or rather a US Marshall policing geopolitical regions seeing that they are tying into their AngloAmerican and Eurocentric geopolitical international rule of law since they won the Second World War along with their Five permanent members of the UNSC. However, now, two of the permanent five have become pacing rivals to the US Marshall and aa shootout at the Ok Corral seems very frequent since world war two. Nowadays, the worn out American Western genre is cliched and people can see the American modus operandi of getting regional squabbles a good time for the trusty US Marshall to ride into Town with his trusty Steed armed with his sizx shooter, but, now, its called the Carrier Strike Group and armed with JSF 35s and Sidewinder AAMs and Air to Ground Ordinances.
What has been learnt by most Nations is now, the old script has been figured out. Local bad guy does a stand over the local guy, the Big American with his forces waltz in to save the day. Except, now, the American builds military bases and doesnt leave at all. He turns each base like an American Embassy, no one allowed into an American base, not even the locals. Suddenly, we have American bases peppered all along the first island chain lines of containment, to keep China away from the High Seas and daring to expand too far from Asia. The lines of containment includes South Korean Bases, Japan and the Philippines, as well as Guam and Darwin Australia. In the centre of the Pacific is American Samoa and of course, Hawaii in the North Pacific. The Americans have become a constant reminder to the Asians of the Eurocentric Colonialism particularly with the recently formed AUKUS military alliance an Australian initiative to reach out to their Anglo American Apron strings for dear life for Anglo Saxon Neo Colonial Australia fearful of being swamped by Asians in a European Island isolated as an overgrown Singapore in the South Pacific alongside Anglo Saxon New Zealand.
The American modus operandi to contain China, and for that matter to divide Russia is to ensure that America's pacing rivals with Russia and China are adequately isolated by the Global community in a divide and conquer objective. More pervasive is the NATO objective to render the Russian Federation fate to be similar to that of the Great War division of the Ottoman Empire into the modern Middle East Nations we know of today, along with its over a century old problems, especially with the creation of the Palestinian State in 1917.
The fate of the Ottoman Empire after the Great war, would see the Picot Sykes Declaration an important remapping of the Ottoman Empire with new Nations and excluding Natons that should have been created, like Kurdistan and Khorasan Nations instead of some of the Middle Eastern Nations that are presently Middle Eastern States today, Of course, the Palestinian State was the purview of Arthur Balfour and the can of worms that was to unfold can be directly attributed to him alone. He did, after all create Palestine not for the local Arab tribes, but, for the Jews. Herein lies the rub today. As for the Russian Federation, it appears that the second part of the Glasnost and Perestroika dismantling of the second World of the Comintern, was to divide the Russian Federation into separate Repbublics, Krais and Oblasts, again not dissimilar to the Ottoman Empire after the Great War. It appears the unfinished mission objective of the German Nazis and now NATO is indeed to not only defeat Russia but to ensure its eventual collapse and disintegration into a smaller more manageagable State, to the pleasure of America, of course, and to the EU Nations wanting to knock down a Tall Poppy down from his high horse.
The casus belli and mea culpa would be Ukraine. Knowing full well that the Donbas was always populated by Russian Speakers the 1991 overstretched claims by Ukraine of their Soveriegn borders would ineluctably lead to the present tensions by those who had drew up the Ukrainian map from the outset. Sow the seeds of discontent until it matures to an outrage and mea culpa for NATO to interdict in the domestic affairs. Shoot down MH 17 and dishonour the Minsk Agreement of 2015 will help play out the confrontation and escalation of the conflict. NATO would eventually be drawn in after the Russian military were expected to be war weary and the Russian low morale exascerbated by the economic sanctions crippling the Russian economy to the point that the Russian people will turn against Russia likened to the Ukrainian Euromaiden revolution. Again not dissimilar to the collapse of the Soviet Union. This didnt work out according to the script. The CORDS CIA Program Play book was well known by National Security Analysts from all sides, including the Russian Analysts. The Russians dont play that way and yes, the Russians play Chess very well.
The Referendas and the ratification of the Donbass Oblasts into the Russian Federation was Grandmaster chess moves well ahead of the NATO chess players the Russians Statecraft had completely outplayed the EU and NATO and left them for dead as Punked Dumbasses. And so, the Americans, and the EU leaders, play on with deploying more weapons and munitions to Ukraine and the Ukrainian Russian chess game was well and truly over with the Ukrainian King well and truly dead. But, Ukraine continued to move their chess pieces and moving their Urkainian Forces as pawns to the Russian contact line, only to continue the denazification meatgrinder with First Person View Drones footages of Trench warfare deaths and destruction. Annhilated buildings, rail networks, bridges, power utilities, airports, hospitals, and other utility infrastructures, and yet the Ukrainians and NATO still continue to play out the end game when the game was already done since the Russian Duma passed their amalgamation legislation back in September 2023.
In the South China Sea, the Philippines scenario is a similar American playbook, with US Bases establishing a quasi permanent American presence within the South China Sea, apart from Darwin and Guam, the Philippines is yet another American military franchise along an island line of containment that will include the second Thomas Shoal to trigger a casus belli between AUKUS and QUAD against the local bully, China. Whereas, the Chinese are viewing the FONOPS issue as American post Colonial standover in the region, the Americans are viewing Chinese regional aggression as the bad boy attitude in Chinese regional Hegemonic dominance in their OWN Backyard. The Chinese will view American presence like the Japanese will view all European Colonial Powers since the fall of Singapore in 1942 Eurocentric and Anglo American Colonial bullying from a half millennia of European Colonialism of the Asia Pacific region. The Japanese had disseminated the regional decolonial mantra of Asia for Asians which was a key slogan that spread the decolonisation of the Asia Pacific like wildfire and more rigorously after World War Two. The Dutch were notable with their colonial repressive antics after World War Two in South East Asia that the legacy of their Colonial behavioural legacy left an indelible inspid legacy to the hearts and minds of the Asians. The Fall of Singapore was the inspiration for Asians to view the Americans along a similar vein.
The Second Thomas Shoal conflict is being viewed by Asian historians and especially by the Chinese as yet another Singapore mea culpa moment in the Asian decolonisation political history.

Ayungin Shoal is 121 miles from the Philippines while it's 1900 miles away from China. How come it becomes China's when their cartographer only drew the imaginary 11-dash line there in 1947? It's obviously inside Philippines EEZ. What if India draws an imaginary 11-dash line in the Indian Ocean, will it become theirs?

The South China Sea Arbitration Tribunal was established in The Hague in accordance with Annex VII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It was a temporary team established and withdrawn at the end of the case. It was by no means an "international tribunal." The reporter's interview and investigation found that the ad hoc arbitration tribunal had nothing to do with the International Court of Justice (ICJ), also located in The Hague, which was the main judicial organ of the United Nations and was established in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.
The ad hoc arbitration tribunal was not directly related to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg, Germany. The only thing that matters was that, according to the requirements of Annex VII of the Convention, if the parties did not appoint an arbitrator, the President of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (in this case, the former President of the Japanese Nationality Shunji Yanai) will be appointed on his behalf. The ad hoc arbitration tribunal was also not directly related to the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). Slightly related was that the Permanent Court of Arbitration provided secretarial services to the arbitral tribunal of this case and leased the Peace Palace in The Hague to the arbitral tribunal as a trial venue.
It can be seen that the ad hoc arbitration tribunal in this case was not a permanent arbitration institution, nor was it an authoritative judicial institution in the field of international maritime law. Its procedural rules were also interim arbitration rules drawn up by the arbitrators and applicable only to this case. Both the UN and PCA denounced the ruling.
The US is not even the signatory of UNCLOS yet its big mouth blares such a hype as if the US is the great defender of UNCLOS. When the illegal arbitrary (which was not part of the ICJ but a kangaroo court setup by the US and paid by the lackey Aquino) ruled that 1 of the islands claimed by China was not an island but only a shoal (which share the same criteria with one of the islands in the Hawaii), the US supported the kangaroo court verdict on China BUT refused to comment on the island in Hawaii that shares similar criteria. Till now the island is still considered an island, hence the US is allowed to claim 350nm of EEZ (not just 200nm). Isn't this the behaviour of a rogue nation?

the guy with mustache is incorrect!
according to og philippines map and the un map in historical records, the territory line cuts off the island, which was the point china refused to accept the ruling from the international court. but philippines used a revise version of the older map to include the islands as part of the philippines. if i remember correctly the map was made by spanish cartographer pedro something in the 1700...
also china has historical records dated back to the han dynasty (202bc), which 2k+ years ago and thru out the time china claims those islands up until to 50's, china decided to use an old map dated back to the ming dynasty (1368ad) to draw the 9 dash line. a replicate of the old map is at the museum.
so that mustache guy really needs to freshen up his history before he makes another comment...

china signed due to trade and business...please reread the unclos and the hague conventions...
here is a quick summary and why china refused to follow the unclos and the hague conventions signature...
UNCLOS creates economic zones and the ocean.
UNCLOS does not cover land that was already claimed.
There are multiple islands all over the world that are inside other countries economic zones. Some are inhabited and some are not.
      There are two separate issues:
The islands that China claimed previously. They are basically outside of the scope of UNCLOS if they were owned by China. If they aren’t then … that another issue. This debate is ongoing but is largely outside the scope of UNCLOS directly.
The islands/reefs that were built up. This one is more interesting. The basic idea seems to be that China says it has historical claims with pre-date UNCLOS BUT this is less clear cut which is the reason for the arbitration case a few years ago.
So from China’s point of view, it has abided with the UNCLOS agreement. Other people disagree so here we are now…
