A Filipino civilian convoy called "Atin Ito" claims to have breached China's blockade around the Huangyan Dao, also known as Scarborough Shoal, in the South China Sea. The convoy reportedly aimed to resupply Filipino fishermen but stopped 50 nautical miles from the shoal. The Philippine Coast Guard and Navy monitored the mission. What are the real goals behind it? Are the fishermen being exploited, and are there other forces at play? Join us as we uncover the real story behind this high-stakes maritime drama.

It seems that many people confused EEZ with soverignty. EEZ does not automatically means that you have sovereignty over the islands within the EEZ. Whoever has the sovereignty over the islands would then establish its own territorial water and EEZ beyond that! Hence, the struggle over sovereignty of these uninhabited islands. UNCLOS does not deal with the question of sovereignty!

USA position can change, but in reality at the end of the day, USA still hasn't and still does not recognize Philippines claims and Philippines sovereignty over the disputed territories(spratleys) in the south China seas.
USA can say whatever if wants like "we are ironclad defense treaty allies" but in reality China is giving Philippines ships water cannons and playing bumper cars with them repeatedly. Everytime pH sails it's ships fo challenge China's ships, US warships are nowhere to be seen. Even after pH gave USA new military bases USA has permanent presence in the SCS and go out of their way fo act like they are the undisputed hegemon and can and will beat Chin anytime it wants.
US talks big but when it comes down to it and pH challenges China and needs US support, they are nowhere to be seen.
Someone let me know when usa even recognizes pH's claims let alone heko them defend or enforce their claims. Because I don't think it will ever happen. Same as usa will never recognize TW independence nor defend TW.bin fact USA will never fight China directly unless China directly attacks USA mainland first since China is a nuclear superpower and peer competitor who can turn hss info a nuclear wasteland and decimate every single major city(with 50,000+ people) in USA in 30 minutes or less with one phone call or the press of a single button.
Philippines or Taiwan or Japan or anyone would never be worth such a price. There would be nowhere for the US president, US Congres, their families/relatives/friends or even their pets to hide in such a war. So USA can talk big all they want, it will never change reality and their actions show that they all understand these objective facts very well. It is why USA has kept wanting to reopen lines/channels of communication at the highest levels between US military and Chinas PLA in order to "avoid misunderstandings".
It's why even usas highest general and chief if staff directly rang his Chinese counterpart to reassure China about this or that after Pelosis TW visit.
I bet the same thing has happened for SCS and Philippines, and that's why no US ship has ever sailed with pH since China has warned USA that if they did, China would consider it as USA taking sides+an act of war and China would then be forced to respond and act accordingly.. just like they did during the Korean war and Vietnam war. And usa knows full well how that ended.. and that was against a backwards China in crippling poverty with no technology, no air force, no navy, no armor, no production, nothing. and USA also had SK and +17 other UN countries combined to back them up in Korea yet still lost handily. Today China is peer competitor who is even ahead of usa in many areas. The writing is on the wall and usa knows it. Only the dumbest and weakest vassals with puppets who cannot resist and who don't care about their own country like BongBong would follow USA off the cliff.

Well I can understand Vietnam because based from arbitral award their claim is also in question.
Philippines have been given 6years yet just take advantage and built military facilities in Mischief reef.

The West Philippine Sea is still international waters. The 2016 Hague ruled in favor of the Philippines 200 miles EEZ but never ruled who the islands in the South China Seas. An EEZ is not sovereignty only fishing and oil rights. UNCLOS does not give the Spratly Islands or the Scarborough Shoal to the Philippines.

@@greatzaliv993 An exclusive economic zone (EEZ), as prescribed by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, is an area of the sea in which a sovereign state has exclusive rights regarding the exploration and use of marine resources, including energy production from water and wind.
It stretches from the outer limit of the territorial sea (22.224 kilometres or 12 nmi from the baseline) out 370.4 kilometres (or 200 nautical miles) from the coast of the state in question. It is also referred to as a maritime continental margin and, in colloquial usage, may include the continental shelf. The term does not include either the territorial sea or the continental shelf beyond the 200 nautical mile limit. The difference between the territorial sea and the exclusive economic zone is that the first confers full sovereignty over the waters, whereas the second is merely a "sovereign right" which refers to the coastal state's rights below the surface of the sea. The surface waters are international waters.
