What an awesome idea!!! I hope it turned out beautiful! For my niece, I carved a keltic cross panel for her wedding. It was my first large carving and involved some blood, sweat and tears😉. Things like these will be family heirlooms that will last well after we are gone.

Hi Carlye--thank you for all the great info! Hopefully you have time for a dumb question. :) Is there a reason that you can't use ANY pattern to create a leaded panel if you don't care what the finished dimensions are going to be? I realize that a leaded panel made using a pattern with lines that don't account for the heart of the came will "grow", but if the came is being cut/fitted piece by piece, will the glass pieces cut from the pattern work as-is?
your tutorial was excellent. Very clear and straight to the point. I love doing stained glass and am always looking at different techniques. Although I have been cutting glass for over 30 years I am always open to learning new ways to master my craft. What is the name of your etsy shop

you're a gem, carlye. clear. detailed. specific. helpful to observe your opposite thumb guiding the cut. I also wish to spend minimum time on the grinder. why use h-came on border instead of u-came? how does h-came benefit you? (I'm creating stained glass panels for a barrister-style bookcase.) many thanks.

I can get H came is much wider sizes in zinc and I wanted lots of strength since it was going in someone’s transom window. If this piece was going to be up close and personal like a sun-catcher I would have either used U came or added a wood frame for a more finished look. Thanks for asking!
i appreciate that you talk extensively about the fit and space between panels. nobody else in videos ive watched has really tackled that but i do see people who make that mistake. have you considered the usefulness of a magnifier light so you don't have to bend in so much while scoring? i can imagine that could lead to some back and neck strain.

It’s possible that or would work just fine or it could cause some frustration but it doesn’t hurt to try!
