I've seen some people question the time put into rebuilding farm machinery on several tractor videos. I grew up on 400 acres or so that was leased out to cattle and sheep, for the most part, so my 12 to 17 hour days, 6 days a week, were as a paid laborer on another farm in the summers from 8th grade through college. My boss was a fair and hard working man who loved his kids and never had problems with equipment (other than what some bailing wire would take care of until winter and more time to do a real fix). After putting his fields to rest for the winter, he spent each working day going through each piece of equipment making sure everything that could be done was done to ensure long life and reliability. By the time spring came, everything was beautiful and ran smoothly. Each year he seemed to add another thing that he had purchased at a deep discount that would benefit his growing farm. Because of his diligence he continued to purchase and lease more land around him so his hardware needs grew. After getting his current fleet "perfect" he would then dig into the new piece of equipment. Each was normally done by spring. He would sell off his "perfected" smaller or older one and move forward with the larger and/or more modern device. Unlike some neighbors who spent the winters skiing, he invested each day. Work always stopped when his girls showed up and they all learned to have fun turning wrenches and finding the grease points. I've yet to meet a man who had a better relationship with his girls. They spent hours talking in the shop. He also got to know all of their boyfriends as he would hire them because of his "desperate need" for help to get that old thing ready for spring. I've yet to meet a man who knew the boys dating his girls like this man did. He changed the vectors of their lives. Even the ones who did not end up as husbands.

Love this video. Papa owned a Skee-ball and Arcade. He taught me (a girl) the mechanics of how skee-ball works. In high school, girls were not allowed to take car mechanics class & I would have loved it. I had to take sewing; which is good knowledge too, but not the same. Lol

Oh yes! We waited all year for this. I subscribe to the the Sobkowiak idea that if you expect to fail the first time on a farm project then you won't be too disappointed. If it was all easy it would be boring my friend. Personally I'm trying to get an old GT 3000 garden tractor running for my small orchard. The gas cap broke and was funneling pure refreshing pacific northwest rain into the tank and now the carb is full of some sort of microbrew. Heh. Maybe I'm in the wrong business.
