Wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis's masterpiece is one of the most engaging accounts of temptation---and triumph over it---ever written. In this audio dramatization, original music and a full cast bring the correspondence of the worldly wise demon Screwtape and his nephew Wormwood to life. Includes 10 new songs inspired by the classic book, four behind-the-scenes video documentary featurettes and a 5.1 surround sound mix. Four CDs, approx. 4 hours total.
Serkis was a great choice. C. S. Lewis was a genius and his work should be presented by the best we have to offer.
It's amazing because Lewis dedicated it to Tolkien and none other than Gollum will play Uncle Screwtape
@@mariodatguy4988 lol, you are a funny guy.
Why, he is an athiest.. of course being a child of the devil would make him a good choice. However, Max McClean did a much better job and he is born again, therfore has a better understanding of the wiles of the devil.
How fitting that Andy Serkis voices Screwtape. It's like now we get to say to Screwtape: "Leave now and never come back!"
omg yaaaaas hahah
This is honestly not only amazing as a theological piece, but it's also turned into a great dramatic piece as well: Screwtape, despite his years of experience and success, is still dead set on continuing his career through Wormwood, as he views the current demon education system to be inefficiently melodramatic. But as the Patient grows as a Christian and subsequently a good man, Screwtape's sanity starts to degenerate as he's confronted with true failure in the face of God for the first time.
This production of the great literary masterpiece was fantastic! Loved every second of it. The actors were utterly brilliant!
"The Enemy wants men to be concerned with what they do; our business is to keep them thinking about what will happen to them."...Thank you FOTF Radio Theater for making the Screwtape Letters. It is lively, intriguing, hilarious, and cutting, and excellently represents C.S. Lewis's book. I will enjoy listening to it for years to come.:)

What a dynamic cast for such a significant work of literature!
He sounds like scar from lion king : )
This rendition by "Focus On The Family Radio Theater - Collector's Edition": of C.S. Lewis - Screwtape Letters is BY FAR the BEST Ever Produced, I have listened to this 4 CD version several times over the past few years :) I would luv to see these actors collaborate with movie magic's such as Lucasfilm to produce the movie of this book :)
And no one other than Andy Serkis as Screwtape.
How about a TV Series or mini-series of about 31 episodes?
Oh you spoiled it for me. I was interested in buying a copy but now if any of my money would go to that hateful vindictive misogynistic homophobic political agit-propoganda group in Colorado I would rather have Andy Serkis voice this comment as Screwtape.Same demons different company.
@@michaelkingsbury4305 I would suggest that you do not understand these letters at all if you can make this remark.
Why am I just now finding out about this?!
That’s what I’m wondering!
For real!! I just found out about this today! I never knew Focus on the Family did audio dramas let alone ones with freaking ANDY SERKIS in them!!!! I can't find a free or downloadable version anywhere though and don't have a CD player to buy the CD version! Really want to listen to this!!
@@withsisu2324 Same here..Went to my local used book store today to by the book while I’m reading the Hobbit..and just stumbled across this just now!!
This is so well-written and now performed. I had not read the book so did not know exactly what this work of fiction would be about. It was excellent and at times very funny and very scary - thought provoking, well done.
Andy Serkis! AWESOME!!
Great video!!!! Amazing how beautiful the voice can craft the imagination
Wonderful wonderful wonderful thank you so much for showing this
I love John Cleese’s performance in this part it was more of an older more brooding version that took a while to build but none the less impactful
Just bought on Apple Music. My brother and I are doing an accompanying Bible study and I know this will enrich it. Thank you so much!
Hey!What Bible study? I was interested in finding one
@@Freed_captive705 when I get home tonight I’ll look at the book and tell you exactly which one
@@jeffcmolik thank you so much!!
At 4:30 I was so hoping he would say "precious..." Some other time.
hearing douglas gresham speak tickles my toes, i love that man and the influence he uses for good
The ending is hillarious!!!🤣🤣
Greatest voice on the planet
Ok I nerded out, not about Andy, but Paul McCusker! Ohmygosh, I grew up listening to him on Odyssey! I love it!
put this on audible please or at least let us buy a digital form
Just read this but now need to listen to this recording. Just found it on YT and also found out that Water Martin wrote a sequel to the Screwtape Letters
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The $30 price tag was high, but definitely worth it. You guys did a phenomenal job
Look! It's Smeagol!
Stephie Calligraphy lol Smeago😆😆
Wow whoa!
If ever there was a time when a cinematic dramatization of Lewis' extraordinary work was needful...it is today!! The decline of western culture cries for such an eye-opener as this. Enough Narinia. Let's see Screwtape on the screen!!
That would be a true challenge to accomplish, but still interesting. 🙂
Andy Serkis playing a demon?! (Please tell me he lets loose just one "My precious")
he says my poppet haha
My Pigs Knee
Oh I’m purchasing this!
I’ll share this audiobook! With my boys
Andy Serkis really does a brilliant job. But I do think I prefer John Cleese's version. He approaches it much more like a bored English gentle man... Somehow to me that seem more terrifying than "demonic" voice.
All that said, I am a huge fan of Serkis, he's brilliant and I think this recording was executed really well.
The finished recording is actually surprisingly more subtle than the examples in this video! He runs the whole gamut from explosive fury to crafty whispers.
I can’t believe I found this video, all these years later. I always wonder if working on content like this ends up leading people to Christ-not sure about Serkis, but I wonder.
This is good. Thank you.
300!!!
These are brilliant men.
Awesome.
awesome.
When i first heard the recordings, i thought it was Jeremy Irons
Wheres the audio drama though? If its bbc then we have paid for this and deserve to be able to view it
Sorry, you deserve it?

Gin,
Wow! He's too good. Disturbing!
Where can I get the full recording of this dramatised version?
follow the link in the description.
Has anyone noticed most of the excerpts in the video are from the last letter?
I’m surprised that Andy Serkis decided to do this because it deals with themes of the devil and God. Dont get me wrong especially his Gollum is spot on I think Tolkien would have loved to have seen the movies with him in it. Still not many Hollywood actors are Christians much less agree to be in that said production
Does anybody know where we could get a digital download?
Free online.
I’m loving this!

That’s Peter Jackson! From the Lord of the rings!
Is this out yet????
Can somebody explain the context for the "Series of Recordings" lines?
The original introduction written by C. S. Lewis follows a similar pattern, in which Lewis claims to have "discovered" the correspondence between the demons. Of course the Screwtape Letters is purely fiction written by Lewis himself; but the "joke" was to, in a sense, fictionalize the truth and teach in reverse. Hence his introduction to the book furthering this concept in another way.
Josiah- I wasn’t asking about CS Lewis’ introduction, I’ve read it many times. I’m talking about the one here
@@Salmonking12 I should imagine it's simply to contextualize it, since this is an audio version.
@@paulewing8166 But none of what she says fits anywhere into the story... and besides if you listen to the audiobook it isnt part of it anyway
@@blackoutninja The context is of this promotional video

@@patjones4250 wrong. The link IS this version.
@@traykunable thank you so much!!
Andy Serkis is brilliant but his performance in this feels like it's not quite on point. In the book, Lewis seems to depict Screwtape's demeanor as that of a very decent Englishman (if not for all his evil intentions), not as this monstrous goblin that Serkis is performing. Again, Serkis is normally brilliant, but as Lewis says in the book, it is this over the top, melodramatic depiction of demonism that causes people not to take it seriously. Hopefully he tones it down during portions of the performance. I couldn't imagine how he would deliver "Your affectionate uncle, Screwtape" in the same melodramatic tone.
The Bass level is hurting my ears !
Pretty sure Andy Serkis is a rampant athiest, but anyway.
John Cleese did it better. Cleese brought in the evilness of indifference rather than this pointy-horned demon version that the book actually ridicules.
Cleese is very good, but it is not a zero sum game.
Both a very talented but are different with their performances. It still leaves quite the impression.
I get what you are saying but damn this creeps me to hell out and makes the content stick more lol
Where can i listen to this? First i heard serkisxwas reading as he will be brilliant( must have been) in this
