Plecos are a type of catfish so no wonder it tasted good fried lol. Fried catfish is a delicacy in the Southern Eastern United States where I live. All catfish are bottom feeders so they smell bad but taste surprisingly good.
Catfish is popular in many different countries around the world, here in South East Asia, several types of catfish are the most common fishes to be consumed here. You really can do a lot with them and it's simply tasty
I’m from the NE United States, New England, but I spent a large portion of my life in Florida, and my uncle owned a creole restaurant in south Florida. He had catfish on the menu and we’d catch many of them ourselves. I just caught a catfish two days ago, but it was much too small to eat! I don’t usually do bottom rigs so I don’t catch them often. They can not resist a worm laying on the bottom.
Plecos fascinate me. Plecos were part of the samples we investigated as part of our research capstone, They are really quite resilient creatures, they evolved in such a way to dominate the habitats they reside in. Since we had to dissect these marvelous creatures you can really see how well adapted they are too well adapted even. As no apparent predators of plecos can cause them to become invasive. the thing is when we dissected these despite their innards removed they still managed to continue moving for a while
Where did you study them?! Did you gather any interesting findings? My study was in invasive species as well, but mine was with Cuban Tree Frogs ( Osteopilus sept. ) in Florida. We also dissected them! I have a couple of interesting observations that we found.
Masaru, I watch your videos from Costa Rica and I've been a follower for over 2 or 3 years now, this is the first time I hear a fish I'm familiar with, "tilapia", so it made me really happy. I haven't finished the video but I'm eager to see what you catches this time.❤️
Masaru-san, your adventures are very fun and interesting! I enjoy your fearless approach to things in the water. I also like that you research first. Please be careful and keep up the great job! Love all your series and adventures!
plecos are fast buggers when they are small, you get them as pets for fish tanks, you don't see them getting that big often since the tank stunts their growth
Boiling it with guts intact is a no no especially with these muddy fishes. I swear somehow you would taste the gut in the meat even when it's deep fried
As someone who is in the aquarium hobby this is wild to see especially since these plecos are just known to be the trash cleaners of the aquarium world
Such a nice shirt to wear fishing. Thankfully we do not have these guys in Pennsylvania, the water may get too cold. We have them in aquariums, they are good algae eaters, Don't eat it. google translate: 釣りに着るのにとても素敵なシャツです。ありがたいことに、ペンシルベニアにはこのような人はいないので、水は冷たすぎるかもしれません。水族館にもいますが、藻類をよく食べるので、食べないでください。
I like the fact that his face is the absolute same, Good or bad, and we don't know how it tastes until he tells the camera 😂😂😂😂😂 it's the Main reason i subscribed.
I have learned many things from this channel. Today I made braised yellow croaker and it was delicious. Thank you for giving me the courage to try cooking fish for myself! 🐟🍽🤤
biggest mistake in this video. is boil fish with its stomach contents. makes the fish smelly. 🤣🤣 It seems the hardest part of cooking fish is learning to clean the guts.🗿
I have a 1000gallon fish tank. I’ve got a few of these guys in there. They keep the glass clean and the algae under control. Didn’t know that you could actually eat them though
I'm very curious about all the subtitles Masaru offers for his videos. There are so many different languages, and the English at least is so high quality I don't think it could be automatically generated. Are the other language subtitles also high quality? Does he commission translations of his videos?
This is one of my favorites fish from Amazon rain forest (Brazil, north). Boiled with onions, tomatoes and coconut milk. It is an exotic and tropical dishes 😁
Pleco also have become a problem in my country...now some people's are experimenting it...some turn them as fermented fish, some take their eggs and use it as cat fish bait some even turn then as a paste to feed other's fish...you also can use them as cat food
Sad to see these fish in ANOTHER place they are not supposed to be in... They have become problems in SO many places now. All because people weren't informed about how big they get, how dirty they are, and how long they live as aquarium pats.
I was worried when you said that the fish smelled bad, because you only say that when it's *really* bad! It looked delicious at the end though. ❤ Hope your recovery is going well!
Hello Masaru! I am a fan. Pleco is also invasive in Thailand and we're eating them by throwing them into fire without any preparation. The scale comes off easy and the meat becomes similar to chicken. Pleco roe is also very good. Perhaps you'd like to try
Masaru's shirt game has tremendously improved
hairstyle too, man is dripping
Man is def dripping, in the blood of endangered species.
These river fish episodes are getting wild 😂
came upon this channel 3 years ago as a high school senior. i'm now a biology major with extensive love for fish lol
Real, I got into food sci after highschool, still watching him fillet is fishes :D

Fried catfish tastes good everywhere, bro. It's a staple in SE Asia too
Man said delicacy

Are they like a catfish?
and yet they die in my aquarium despite literally every other living being in it being perfectly fine
@@mameshibe8297 … It’s too clean in there bruh, the ghetto fish needs that dank grime and fetid muck to thrive. >)X^D

Loving these invasive species videos.

I dont know jack s about fishing but i cant help but love seeing masarus videos, its just terapeutic for me
this episode feels particularly unhinged. i love it

This is great, I can feel the humanity in the episode here. Getting tired fishing, the actual smell, diet influencing your opinion, it's so cool!
I've already watching him eating this fish in the past but he's doing it with a proper preparation in this episode
I laughed so hard when the Roundabout song started playing! 😂

This is the second video I've seen where you mention the Habu snake, i had no idea Japan had a few species of native pit vipers. Cool video!

love the non-seafood related food series, have some rest too please!
Pleico can be good for fish cake or shumay. Cooking it needs extra steps. In Indonesia it is considered as "poorman's delicacy".
Fr tho, but sometimes pleco live in reality dirty and polluted Inveronment and you can get sick if you eating it

We used to keep plecos to help keep our aquarium clean when I was a kid, so I knew they could get kinda big, but I had no idea they could get BIG big
These guys are great pets but people tend to put them in way small tanks! they need so much space, they get HUGE!

I love this guys videos!
The first fish, called plecos, is good for being a cleaning fish for your aquarium
Ikan sapu sapu di indonesia daging nya mengandung mercury 😢
Plecostomus are great for cleaning freshwater fish tanks. It is like a swimming filter. They eat algae they are catfish.
I think you should learn from an Indonesian youtuber named "Dede Inoen", he is very good at catching anything especially fish with his bare hands. 😊😊😊
Oh Lord...
In my house this fish is usually an ornamental fish but is useful for cleaning aquarium glass. it's called "broomstick fish."
Keep up the amazing content ! Love from France
Plecos when chopped and cooked have similar texture to shellfish (lobster).

Here in Brazil we eat them a lot indoors, despite it being difficult to clean, I like keeping them in the aquarium more as there are infinite species.
tip: the best way to fish is with a small hook and the cheapest market sausage, the oilier the better, most of them are omnivores
Try fishing Tilapia again but using Moss as Bait, use the soft texture moss for better Experience
Bread, canned corn and worms all work. They eat just about anything that is why they are such pests.
