I have hail damage to my car and long story short insurance is wanting to classify as total loss. I was able to get car back from hail shop that said the would handle all communication with insurance and repair car with no out-of-pocket and cover my deductible. More to this, but shortening for sake of post. Took car to another reputable PDR specialist and they say car should not be total loss and they can repair within the initial estimate that insurance wrote. Not getting anywhere with insurance. I would like get car out of total loss status and repair. There are multiple things about initial claim and supplement that don't make sense. Questions: 1) I know in state of Colorado that hail damage total loss does not affect car title, but should I be concerned about accepting a total loss insurance status on car, taking a payout and fixing the car? What is impact for any possible future claims for car whether I stay with existing insurance provider or switch to another provider? 2) Do any and all claims for a car follow the car from one insurance provider to another and affect claim payments? 3) It is my son's car & he owns car outright. If he wants to sell car in the future how with the insurance status of total loss affect the sell process and the new owner should they agree to purchase?
