Props to your honesty, plenty of contractors would have recommended a claim be filed just out of greed. Honest roofing companies unite!

12 mins of up to tennis ball size hail Sep. 29, 2023 North Austin/Round Rock, TX area = file home owners insurance claim literally 10 mins after the storm, after seeing this size hail land inside our house from breaking through the windows and holes through the house siding exposing pink insulation. That IS the right thing to do.
5:24 zero pay claims I can see hurting...but a number of claims from "declared catastrophe" zones should not hurt

What is the price difference between installing the regular standard shingles on a roof and the north gate shingle you rave about?
We just got some small hail hits on roof,do small hits bout 1/4 inch cause problem?Roof was replaced last year,dont think insurance will cover,Anything you can do without replacing shingles that would help.Thanks

I believe it's a Werner extension ladder and a Ladder's Little Helper from Pivit tools.
I live in Ohio where they just pay onezy twozies I call it. Basically damage on a scale of 1-10 maybe a 1 or 2. I am honest like you but it gets me nowhere here in Columbus as I see roofs get torn up that have no damage on them all the time.
The doorknockers are so bad that some homeowners will think I'm lying when I'm telling them what I just said.

@homesteadroofing Yes, it would definitely be helpful to know how to make that judgment call on doing repairs on the roof versus having to replace the whole roof.
Does the Certainteed Landmark hold up as well as the Northgate?
Landmark isn't an impact resistant shingle, so it won't hold up to hail like the Northgate unfortunately.
May I ask?.. if you were to tell the homeowner to file the claim, would you also ask the homeowner to sign one of those contingency forms? Or would you wait for the insurance approval and and the scope of work is written?
At my company we ignore the insurance company when we start the process. If we think the roof needs to be replaced and the owner wants to file a claim, we write our quote independent of what the insurance company says about the scope of work. We know what needs to happen to replace a roof and insurance adjusters don't.
If the claim is missing things or the project cost is too low, we'll meet with the homeowner and explain why.
We never use contingency agreements. We write contracts with an actual project cost on them.
What is the max year on a roof that a insurance co wont pay?
You have to ask your insurance company

The 3rd house is fine..no way I would file a claim on that one...I would wait until the next storm and see if more hail damage would come.
Another thing insurance companies are doing is scheduled roof coverage..if your roof is over 15 years old forget it because you will not even get half of what the job cost.

That depends on the color of the house. My favorite is CertainTeed's Heather Blend

He is full of BS...You can report a loss for records only and if you have a roofer there first, they will pull shingles and/or break concrete roofing tiles so facilitate a covered claim!!!
You should clarify what you mean because your comment makes no sense.

And not all damage needs to be claimed.
