2 Killed 2 Injured When New Mercedes Loses Control | WHITTIER, CA 11.1.20

- WHITTIER,CALIFORNIA - One person was ejected and three others were trapped inside a brand new Mercedes SUV after crashing at high speeds hitting a tree and parked cars. The ejected victim was immediately pronounced dead and covered with a yellow blanket. LACOFD freed two victims and transported them from the scene. The fourth victim was freed from the wreckage and pronounced dead, they were covered as well.
The vehicle was traveling west when the driver hit the center median losing control crossing all eastbound lanes hitting a tree. He then bounced off the tree hitting a parked vehicle causing a chain reaction crash with the vehicles parked behind it. The SUV landed on its side and had the roof cut off for the extrication of victims.

I wrapped my 1972 GSX around a telephone pole when I was 18. The passenger side was demolished. Thankfully I was alone. My back still has the scars.
That was the last time I ever "showed off" for a girl (or anyone else). 30 years have passed and I still think of what if someone had been in the passenger seat?

Wow not even all the safety systems in the new Mercedes could save the person from getting killed.And I’m still driving an 89 Volvo DL with over 325k miles. Zero accidents in over 25 years. Amazing!

Every interior safety system is designed around you wearing your seatbelt. If you don’t do that, nothing can help, and those systems may actually help kill you instead.

And in many of these high speed wrecks, no Volvo or any other car is going to save you. I’m one of those unlucky drivers who had three collisions, two of which were terrifying. I had done a whole lot of driving in the 15-16 years prior to my run of bad luck, with zero speeding or any other citations on my record. First, I was on a freeway where there were lane closures due to construction. The driver of a speeding 18 wheeler decided he was going to jump the queue, running me out of my lane and onto the shoulder....somehow I was able to maintain control of my car, no doubt in part bc I was driving just below the posted revised speed limit, but both driver’s side tires had to be replaced. Then, I was third in line at a stoplight on a 2 lane boulevard, with grass and trees to my left, and a line of cars on my right. I glanced into my mirror and saw a speeding a 70s model Delta 88 flying toward me, showing no evidence of slowing down. It’s estimated that the car-stolen by 18 year olds high on crack, no license, no insurance-was going between 40-45 MPH when it slammed into the rear of my vehicle, causing a chain reaction collision all the way into the intersection, where the lead car was struck. This had nothing to do with good or poor driving, it was simply bad luck, and my car’s engineering also saved me from serious injuries! About 5 weeks later, I was hit by another huge 70s car, stolen, same scenario as before, except that I was going about 15 MPH, about 20 feet behind a school bus, after school, with crowds of children walking home. The car blew through a stop sign on my right, again at a very high rate of speed, so fast that I didn’t even have time to brake, and hit me on the front quarter panel, just missing a group of 10 young children who had only just cleared the intersection. I wasn’t judged to be at fault in any of these mishaps, and felt damned lucky that I sustained no immediate injuries. Of course, 10 years after being rear ended at that ridiculous rate of speed, three severely herniated cervical discs in my neck made their presence known, causing me endless pain and misery....but I’m alive! Forgive me for this long response to your comment, but your silly hubris and baseless pride in the supposed superiority of your car over a Mercedes seemed to require a reality check, especially since you also showed extremely bad taste and a disgusting lack of empathy for the people who were killed.
@@voraciousreader3341 You are right. We mustn't be presumptuous. We can be the best drivers in the world and try to be defensive as well, but we can't control every situation, and some things are just beyond our ability to do anything about them.
And an important message you also communicated is that even if one in an accident doesn't experience immediate injuries, long term effects may show up weeks, months or years later. That's one reason why it's very important to seek immediate medical care even if one feels okay at the moment, and it's also very important for medical staff to take such incidents seriously even if they don't see any immediate symptoms or problems with the patient. They should NEVER just blow something like that off.
Hope your chronic pain is being managed and is at least tolerable if not entirely relieved.
Lesson here: never ever get into a car with someone who doesn't know how to drive
or with a drunk driver! I did that a few times when I was 20 years old (getting in cars with drunk drivers), yes, I was terribly stupid!! I am so lucky to be alive! I guess we all die at exactly the right time, never sooner or later!

I related to your comment and look back at the day when I got in cars driven by fools who were known bad drivers, some of whom had been drinking. People still party a lot in that zone (Mtb, Pico, Downey, SGV).

No seat belts worse. The impact woke me up. I’m 1/2 a block from the impact. Had it not hit a car, it would have went Thru the house it was headed towards. Could have killed people in there sleep. The car was easily going 80mph probably closer to 100mph, it most likely lifted of the ground by the Starbucks and lost control there.

I wish you would have follow up stories on these accidents. It would be really interesting to find out what caused the accident! And if the driver’s that survive. What happens to them.
You can Google car accidents on the date, then city, and if possible where and how many were involved
LoudLabs and other channels like them don't care about the stories or what happens to the people affected by them. They shoot these videos to sell to the local news stations, then wait for the news stations to run the story, then they post them on their YT channels to make more money off them.

Sadly, I took care of a young adult that was the driver and sole survivor. All other 3 friends/ passengers died. Devastating and life changing. Speeding and last minute lane change decision that forever changed the life of many. I’ve always prayed for them 4 and others that find themselves in that situation. PLEASE REMEMBER THERE ARE 2 WAYS TO GET THERE. SAVING 2 MINUTES IS NOT WORTH THIS.

Sad fact is that even after having witnessed a horrific crash like this people will soon forget and continue to tempt fate out on the road. Be it impatience with other drivers or the overwhelming need to be nowhere as fast as possible. There is more time than life folks. Better late than never arriving at all.

i went to school with the girl who survived, according to her the driver died.
This happened up the street. The family told us the 2 men were brothers. One died and the brothers gf also died. Sad. Also it took them almost 9 hours to remove the bodies from the scene and 13 to clear the scene

Looks like someone was speeding and 2 people didn't want to wear seat belts... If they took 5s to put them on, they would have stood a fighting chance of surviving.
Yes this one sure looked survivable for at least some of them. It looks like it didn't even roll. The tree hit was sure tough but seat belts might have made a big difference.
Sad that someone chose speed and recklessness, instead of traveling the speed limit and endangering all in the car, and on the highway. RIP! Blessings to the families and friends, and to the cops and firemen! Also yo anyone else involved.

Actually the 'dead' have no idea they are dead. To simulate death you merely have to fall asleep. When you wake up, if you wake up, take notes about what it was like being 'dead asleep' It's almost identical they say.

The best way to simulate death is to be under general anesthesia. No awareness of anything, including the passage of time. All you recall is what happened before you went under, and that feels like only a moment before, even though you may have been under for several hours. That's like being "dead" out.
It takes a bit of time to get to know a new vehicle. It took me a while to get accustomed to my new car's shifting pattern. You don't really know something until you know its limits. That includes yourself.

Because people who don't wear seat belts are stupid beyond belief. People who drive at high speed on city streets are also careless idiots who don't care about anyone but themselves. I hope the families of the dead, injured and the owners of the cars sue the driver's estate for all the deductibles, funeral expenses and car repairs in addition to any missed work days. The driver was an evil criminal.
Based on how challenging it was to prep the roof for extrication, I'm assuming that Mercedes' roofs are made out of aerospace grade titanium? That was quite an ordeal, eh?

No, just need to put the relief cuts in the right place.
Also if you use a little zip gun which cuts out a thin strip along the edge of the roof nearest to the ground which takes most of the strength out of the roof and it folds down much easier.
@@andyoxleyonhistravels Wouldn't an industrial grade diamond blade saw/grinder have been the easier route to relieve tension on the bottom part of the roof? I understand that the victim was already declared deceased, but if the victim was still alive and clinging to life those precious minutes could have made a difference. What I'm saying is not an indictment of the firefighters since they do this for a living; I was just wondering why it took so long.

Saws are never allowed in extractions because it could ignite the carpets, papers, clothes of the victims, the interior roof fabric, car seats, leaked fuel and any other materials that people carry in their cars.

When you're going that fast and hit ANYTHING, all the safety features aren't going to help much. The human body isn't made to with stand that kind of trauma.
