    A master's thesis and a PhD thesis both represent original research conducted by a student in pursuit of an advanced degree. However, there are several key differences between the two. Firstly, a master's thesis is typically shorter and less comprehensive than a PhD thesis. It typically involves a narrower research focus and is designed to demonstrate the student's mastery of a particular field. A PhD thesis, on the other hand, is typically more extensive and requires a greater degree of original research. Secondly, a master's thesis is typically completed within a shorter timeframe than a PhD thesis, often within one to two years, while a PhD thesis may take several years to complete. Thirdly, a master's thesis is usually evaluated by a committee of faculty members within the student's department, while a PhD thesis is typically evaluated by a committee of faculty members from both within and outside the student's department. Finally, a master's thesis is often a requirement for earning a master's degree, while a PhD thesis is typically the culminating requirement for earning a PhD.

    I trust you are well. I wanted to extend my appreciation to you today. I've been an avid viewer of your videos up until now, even though I hadn't subscribed to your channel. However, I'm excited to share that I've rectified that by subscribing today.
    As an MSC student specializing in clinical pharmacy, I find your content particularly relevant and insightful.
    Currently, I'm embarking on my dissertation journey which involves tool validation and the assessment of health-related quality of life in COPD patients. I'm knee-deep in the data collection phase, and your guidance is proving to be invaluable.

    As an undergraduate student currently coming towards the end of my second year approaching 3rd and final year, interested in doing my masters afterwards, I feel this channel mainly focuses on people doing PhD, it would be highly appreciated if you can upload more content on final year project for undergraduates and dissertation/projects for masters. Not everyone wants to do or can do a PhD.

    My masters thesis was in technical writing. It was 120 pages and took me six months. I had a committee, a chair, and a defense. I had to complete it to finish my degree. It was definitely more involved than what's described here. I haven't written a thesis in my PhD, but I must complete a dissertation to graduate this year. It will likely take me four months of research, writing, revising, and defense. Just sharing my experience because not everyone's will be the same.

    • @DrAminaYonis

      Wow, that's so interesting - definitely a lot more required than I've typically seen for a Master's programme. Are you studying at a UK university? Best of luck with the rest of the process.

    I guess it all depends on each institution. I did my Masters at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, and my paper was marked by 3 external examiners. May I add that it was 243 pages long. My paper was really detailed at some point I felt like I was writing a PhD thesis. Anyway, I feel like it prepared me for a PhD.

      Oh wow Fifi , I am currently doing my masters at UJ . I will be submitting in November. Care to explain to me the marking process ?

    • @RefilweMekgoe18
      @RefilweMekgoe18 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@elizabethtikiso2265 Sure 🙂. Once you are done with the changes you made based on the language editor's comments, and you are 100% confident that you checked everything, you can let your supervisor know that you are ready to submit. There is a separate email address for submission mine was cbesubmission because of my faculty. You sent your final dissertation in Word and pdf format, your declaration letter, your affidavit, language editor declaration letter, turnit report generated by your supervisor, and ethical clearance. Then you wait. You will get feedback from all the examiners with comments. Then you will work on those comments. Note, you do not have to agree with all but you need to motivate why. Once, you are done you will submit your final paper and the reports of changes from all examiners to the faculty. Then they will do their magic and then finalise your marks. Hope it helps. By the way, what are you studying?
