This footage certifies this channel as the best WW2 footage uploader in my opinion.

My uncle Captain Helmut Radatz flew the 109 before going on to fly twin motors. I think he had something like over 25 kills. He fought the Lightnings and Thunderbolts. And shot them all down. Amazing fellow, died years ago.

It took insane balls and skill to succesfully engage fighters on the western front, and especially in 109, which couldn't really just bolt out of bad situation like 190 could to some extent (190 was a bit faster at low alt and way better in a dive)

@@bezimienny_andzej6425What? The Americans fought at high altitudes. The 109 was much faster than the 190A at 20,000+.

@johnkauppi7078 Over claiming was horrendous on all sides for a number of reasons. He might have claimed 25 but highly unlikely he actually did dispatch 25.

@@DannyBoy777777Yes I can understand that. But not with this man. He kept diaries that we have and many photos of the 109F and G's that he flew. The way their system worked if their kill could not be verified they didn't score. And he was not a very high score pilot.

This is the first video that I've seen with the 151 ports open for loading. The 151 cannon in either 15 or 20mm had a 200 round capacity, while the 7.9 machine guns had 500 rounds each

Intrestingly, Oesau was somewhat a critic of the Bf-109F (Friedrich) series despite its excellent performance, and he often preferred to operate the older E model as long as spare parts were in abundance.

This was after the Battle of Britain 🇬🇧 which the nazi Galland denied the existence.
The campaign of sending Spitfires in fighter sweeps over France was premature as the Luftwaffe despite being occupied in the East was still more powerful than the RAF that operated far from its bases.
After the victory that saved Britain, Churchill dismissed Sir
Keith Park & sent him to Malta
    which again he saved.
    Air Marshal Leigh-Mallory who
was deprived of the lion’s share of glory because he was in the north of London, wanted to get
his glories by massive fighter forays over France, letting himself convinced of it by his
    protege Douglas Bader.
The result was grievous losses in planes & pilots, the main reason being that the Spitfire
    didn’t have a sufficient range
    for such missions.
This enemy ace’s 5 Spitfires shot down were probably due
    to this reason.
Bader himself would be shot down over France the following year.

This is great footage. We know this cant possibly have been 100 for Oesau. For example, on 10 July 1940 he claimed three Spitfires over the Channel. None were lost. The only British loss was a 32 squadron Hurricane which crashed into a Do 17 belonging to KG 2. All "aces" claims should be taken with a pinch of salt.
