      awesome! yeah i just think there’s a ton of crossover between aquascaping and shrimp keeping but not a ton of consistent info on co2 and caridina shrimp. Some folks say the ph swing is bad, others (like the 2Hraquarist article) say the ph swing is fine since it doesn’t move the GH/KH parameters (as long as you don’t gas your shrimp) source: www.2hraquarist.com/blogs/freshwater-fish-and-livestock/ph-swings-co2-injection

    Hi,
    Thank you for sharing your experience.
    I have followed your recipe and managed to get ph8.4.
    However, my tds for freshly mix is around 65 (4l 1/8 tsp 8.5). May I confirm if this is correct as some of the salt has not fully dissolved?

      Hi,
      4l distilled water.
      1/8 tsp 8.5 salty shrimp mix
      1/16 seachem buffer
      I stirred for a while and measured the tds.

    Thanks for all your helpful videos RW! A few questions, Re 5% water changes, is that just topping up evaporation, or does the 5% include water removal + lost water from evaporation? I think I loose about 5% a week just from evaporation. What is the rocky substrate that you have in this tank called? Do you use turkey baster/siphon to clean substrate? how often? And the curved plastic gravel guard fir feeding zone, is there a brand/name for that, or did you make it?

    • @RWAquariumPages
      @RWAquariumPages  ปีที่แล้ว

      5% is purely taking out the water not counting evaporation. The 5% you use top up with rodi water. Rocky substrate is black crushed lava rock or eco co.plete. I use a thin layer ofnsubstrate so I don't clean it. The plastic gravel guard is printed by my friend at cornertankcorner

    I want to ask about the PH stability of the tank when using Tanganyika buffer? Is the PH set susceptible to decreasing too quickly over time? Previously, I used Seachem Alkaline Buffer to increase the PH level of my sulawesi shrimp tank, but perhaps it did not help my PH level stabilize at 8.0-8.3 for too long. The pH level dropped to 7.5-7.5 after only 1 week.

      I can't get this to work at all.. The TDS will be right, but the ph will be too low 7.8 at 160 TDS. The tanganikan buffer will just skyrocket even more.. I get the PH high enough and then then TDS is too high lol.. 185.. So I'm trying CO2. I'm hoping that it works better.

    • @aqualungs77
      @aqualungs77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @aqualungs77
      @aqualungs77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@quannguyenvan124 I had better success so far with C02. I probably need more than a scoop for the 5 gallon bucket because I'm 100 TDS and PH is 7.8. I'm gonna aerate it longer and hope it raises the PH but this is better.
      With the Tanganyikan Buffer it needs 2-3 hours to completely dissolve or it will give a false PH because it has to dissolve still and a bunch of particulates going in that test tube to test PH makes the PH look higher than it is.
      You can get the PH higher and it will stay but you will have to use more buffer.
