But there are people that prefers to keep the anglo names because of how it sounds, though for me it sounds weird when you mix hispanic names with anglo names, like for example: John Sanchez or Eduardo Smith!
@@griseldasainez3733 yes, the origin of the name is the same its just a version of it. it originates from the hebrew name Yôḥānnān. for example in french: Jeanne, in italian: Giovanna! so Johanna is also a version of that :)

y’all im from the US but have been in Spain for 3 months so far doing a high school exchange... you’re right about language classes sucking in the US cause they start us so late but it felt good to watch this video w/o subtitles and understand everything :) in spain we have the “TH” sounds for c’s and z’s so it was weird to hear the different accent you guys have haha. Damon, I think your Spanish is pretty strong and it has a lot of potential with some practice. You are aware of what's going on most of the time with the tenses and stuff, so I think it shouldn't be that hard for you to become fluent!

Am I the only one who never understood why some schools give their students different Spanish names? Like… That's not their name! You don't translate your name when you're speaking another language! (unless you're like Jo, where a certain letter might sound different)

to me (I'm from Spain), at times they both sound as if they were Portuguese trying to speak Spanish. So yeah, they both sound Portuguese/Brazilian.
Jo sounds Cuban (without S aspiration)

Well, It's a great start! just remember that it's just like italian, we have reflexive verbs such as vestirse (vestirsi) and you just take take the last part and put it in the beginning "se viste". Anyway, I'm proud of you, thanks for trying with my language!

I laughed so much when I saw you speaking speaking Spanish. But I feel so proud of you because at least to try to speak the language. I'm a native Spanish speaker and from my point of you view your levels are good. Even a test doesn't define how good are you at a language. It's just a matter of being able to speak and communicating. Eu também falo português e eu estou a melhorar o meu nivel porque meu português não é muito bon mas eu sei que é uma língua semelhante com o espahnol e também estou a aprender francês. Saudades da Colombia e eu dice parabens.

It’s crazy how so many of us learn Spanish as our “first” foreign language early on yet never retain it, but when we study other languages and travel to different countries we pick up on those languages much quicker
