    AN A-10 MORE PILOTS CAN FLY
    The E-flite® UMX™ A-10 Thunderbolt II Twin 30mm EDF ultra micro jet is the most practical and easiest to fly A-10 RC model yet! New upgrades make this replica of the iconic U.S. Air Force aircraft easier for a wider variety of experienced pilots to enjoy - including those with limited EDF experience. The BNF® Basic model’s industry-leading Spektrum™ 2.4GHz technology binds to your 5+ channel DSMX®/DSM2® transmitter for full 4-channel control, plus the benefits of exclusive AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies. It’s 100% factory-assembled and ready to deliver an authentic A-10 jet flying experience almost immediately. The fully-molded airframe features a factory-applied “desert camo” trim scheme and is strengthened with a carbon fiber reinforced fuselage and nose. Factory-installed twin brushless power systems feature more powerful 2S and 3S-compatible outrunner motors with larger diameter 30mm fans, for improved vertical performance and speed compared to other models in its class - plus longer-than-average EDF flight times when using the recommended 450-850mAh LiPo batteries. Use the included fixed landing gear with steerable nose wheel to taxi, takeoff and land on paved or packed dirt surfaces. Or leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance plus easy hand launches over and landings on grass. With the A-10 Thunderbolt II Twin 30mm EDF, you can start flying your first mission within minutes!
    Bind-N-Fly® Completion Level Advantage
    Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
    Exclusive Technologies
    This UMX™ A-10 is equipped with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X®, SAFE® Select and telemetry technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch to make this the easiest to fly Warthog ever! It will also provide real-time flight battery voltage and other telemetry data to Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, the DX9, the NX6, 8 and 10, the iX12, iX20 and others).
    Higher Performance
    The factory-installed twin brushless power systems feature larger diameter 30mm fans with more powerful 2S and 3S-compatible outrunner motors. This upgraded power system setup delivers higher performance than the 28mm fans and 2S-compatible motors installed in previous UMX™ models to offer unmatched speed and vertical performance, plus longer-than-average EDF flight times when using the recommended 450-850mAh 30+C LiPo batteries with an IC2® connector (or JST connector plus a suitable IC2 to JST adapter, including SPMXCA322, sold separately).
    More Durable
    The fully-molded and strengthened airframe includes a carbon fiber reinforced fuselage and nose. The result is a more durable model that looks great and is still lightweight to deliver the best possible flight experience!
    Gear Options
    You can use the included fixed landing gear with steerable nose wheel to taxi, take off and land on smooth surfaces. Or you can leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance plus easy hand launches over and landings on grass.
    Fully-Factory Assembled
    The A-10 Thunderbolt II Twin 30mm EDF arrives 100% factory-assembled and ready to fly right out of the box! It’s equipped with industry-leading Spektrum™ 2.4GHz technology that binds to your 5+ channel DSMX®/DSM2® equipped transmitter so you can be flying within minutes of opening the box.
    Needed to Complete
    • Full-range 5+ channel Spektrum™ DSMX®/DSM2® compatible transmitter
    • 2S 7.4V or 3S 11.1V 450-850mAh 30+C LiPo with IC2® Connector (or JST connector plus a suitable IC2 to JST adapter, including SPMXCA322, sold separately)
    • Compatible LiPo charger and charge lead

  • @MrDsertzen

    I can't decide which edf to go with. I already have the Habu STS

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you've mastered the Habu STS, the E-flite F-15 64mm would be a perfect next EDF! The Viper 70mm is another good next step, but due to the flaps, retracts and 6S power system it's more complex, faster and a bit more difficult to fly. The UMX A-10, or the UMX Citation Longitude, are simpler than the Viper, but they are small and fast so they can "get away from" less experienced pilots a bit easily/unexpectedly. One thing that will help if you buy the UMX A-10 or Citation for your next EDF is to fly them with 2S versus 3S batteries. They still have plenty of power and speed with 2S batteries, but aren't as fast and won't get away from you as quickly as they can when flying with 3S batteries!

    The product page is not very clear on certain points. Is it EPO foam? Is the IC2 connector same as xt30? Also on the site why the item will be available before the availability of the jst connector adapter (therefore limiting the battery options to customers...unless of course they buy your battery?)

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same foam as the original version (EPS) but with additional composite reinforcement in the fuselage/nose. The IC2 is not the same as or compatible with the XT30. We are working with the factory to air freight the IC2 to JST adapters ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/adapter-ic2-battery-jst---rcy-device/SPMXCA322.html ) so they arrive around mid to late April (around the same time the UMX A-10s begin to ship) rather than shipping by ocean freight with delivery in June. Of course you can always remove the IC2 and replace it with a JST or other connector of your choice...we are not limiting any options for anyone. Much more info regarding battery and connector options, other videos, etc. can be seen in post #2 in the UMX A-10 thread on RCGroups: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3848633-The-NEW-E-flite-UMX-A-10-Thunderbolt-II-Twin-30mm-EDF

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't necessarily need to buy more/new batteries! Per Jason's notes in the new UMX A-10 thread on RCGroups ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3848633-The-NEW-E-flite-UMX-A-10-Thunderbolt-II-Twin-30mm-EDF-The-Easiest-to-Fly-Hog-Ever! ):
      "And when looking at the telemetry screens while the motors are running at full power, you’ll probably notice it’s pulling upwards of 12-14 amps with 3S batteries! These 2S and 3S compatible twin 30mm EDF power systems were pushing JST connectors to the limit (and sometimes even causing them to fail on hot days when flying hard!) so that’s why we switched to the IC2 connector on this model (the original UMX A-10 and the UMX Citation have JSTs). The IC2 connector is all-new…it is NOT compatible with the old EC2 connectors because it had to be made larger to fit the Smart wire lead/pin (unlike the IC3 and IC5 connectors that are directly compatible with their EC3 and EC5 counterparts). This means you will either need to use an IC2 to JST adapter (more info below) or the new 3S 850mAh 30C Smart G2 LiPo battery that comes with an IC2 connector on it:
      www.horizonhobby.com/product/11.1v-850mah-3s-30c-smart-lipo-battery-g2-ic2/SPMX8503S30.html
      Which can be charged on Smart chargers using this IC3 to IC2 adapter/charge lead:
      www.horizonhobby.com/product/adapter-6-ic3-battery-ic2-device/SPMXCA320.html
      These batteries are not cheap, but they have very high quality cells, plus the G2 Smart chip and IC2 connector, so they do perform the absolute best…I was getting pretty much unlimited vertical for the whole flight with them!
      However, those who already own 2S or 3S 450-850mAh batteries with JST connectors on them (like batteries you may have used in the original UMX A-10, the UMX Citation, Blade 230 heli, etc.) can use them in the new UMX A-10. Either remove the IC2 and replace it with a JST connector, or buy this IC2 Battery to JST Device adapter separately:
      www.horizonhobby.com/product/adapter-ic2-battery-jst---rcy-device/SPMXCA322.html
      Although the web site currently shows the adapter won’t be here until June (2021), we’re hoping to get them here as soon as the middle to end of April (2021) by shipping them via air freight instead of by ocean container (so they arrive around the time/right after the new UMX A-10s start shipping)!
      And here are the lower cost 3S and 2S batteries with JSTs on them we also recommend. I’ve flown them all and they all work great! The 3S batteries have about 10% less power than the 3S 850mAh Smart G2 batteries (likely due to the cells and/or the power loss of the JST connector), and the 2S battery works surprisingly well! The new UMX A-10 has less power with the 2S battery than the original version did (to leave headroom so it can also work with 3S batteries), but it will still loop from level flight and fly for 5+ minutes with 2S 800s. It’s also more manageable for less experienced pilots to fly because it’s not as fast or heavy:
      1) Spektrum (non-Smart) 800mAh 3S 11.1V 50C LiPo with JST (Item No. SPMX8003SJ50) @ $19.99: www.horizonhobby.com/product/800mah-3s-11.1v-50c-lipo-18awg-jst/SPMX8003SJ50.html
      2) Onyx 11.1V 800mAh 3S 30C LiPo Battery with JST (Item No. ONXP8003S30JST) @ $12.99: www.horizonhobby.com/product/11.1v-800mah-3s-30c-lipo-battery-jst/ONXP8003S30JST.html

      BTW, we’ll also be selling the IC2 connectors separately for those who want to install them on their own batteries, make their own adapters, charge leads, etc.:
      • Connector: IC2 Battery (Set of 5) (Item No. SPMXCA324): www.horizonhobby.com/product/connector-ic2-battery-set-of-5/SPMXCA324.html

      It wouldn’t fly much different about how you expect. The engine placement and wing loading etc will feel more performant. I have an edf but still never flown it lol Its another UMX, but I doubt it has much motor spool up time so torque will feel relatively instant which isn’t so on something large.

    • @brookekathryn1980
      @brookekathryn1980 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it Fly's anything like the citation you'd be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to fly. It's not like a larger edf wich requires pre-throtle due to spool lag so you do t have to stay in the power all the time and they will remain very consistent and stable. Bigger edf's are very different but with these 30mm monsters I'd say it's much like the UMX timber but with 10% +/- more speed required. Should be a perfect next step. You should love it!

      We typically only offer RTF (Ready-To-Fly) versions of trainer aircraft for first-time pilots who don't already own a transmitter, battery, charger, etc. This model is not intended for first-time pilots so it's only offered in a BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic version.

    Is this EPP or Depron? The Ultrix was a home run because of the EPP. Please tell us you're continuing the trend.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      EPP is more durable, but is also heavier and can't be molded with scale surface details in models this size. We will use it whenever we can (typically for sport and other non-scale models...like the Ultrix!), but unfortunately we couldn't use it for this A-10. That said, we and others have crashed and cartwheeled this reinforced/stronger A-10 and it holds up extremely well...see Pilot Ryan's video for example: th-cam.com/video/WmyxFPFH7Sk/w-d-xo.html

    I’ve never flown before. Is this “not recommended for beginners” or is it ok?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your interest we definitely hope you join the hobby! And this E-flite UMX A-10 model is definitely NOT recommended for beginners. If you goal is to work up to flying this model, then we recommend starting with the E-flite Habu STS 70mm EDF jet as your first airplane ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/habu-sts-70mm-edf-smart-jet-rtf-with-safe/EFL01500.html ). After you master flying that airplane, you can use the same controller/transmitter it comes with (the Spektrum DXS) to fly this E-flite UMX A-10! Or, we recommend any of our other "trainer" airplanes seen with the link below. All of the RTF (Ready-To-Fly) version models would be a perfect choice for a first airplane, though we mostly recommend the AeroScout, Carbon Cub S 2, Apprentice STS and Habu STS over all the others because you can use those controller that comes with those models with the A-10. BTW, the lower cost BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic and PNP (Plug-N-Play) versions of the trainer airplanes do NOT include a controller/transmitter, battery or charger so you would need to provide those (which will cost more than buying the RTF version that includes everything!): www.horizonhobby.com/airplanes/by-type/trainer/

    Some reasons I may not be buying this one & I am a BIG fan of Eflite 1:too noisy for my neighbourhood 2:Need for new 'ic2' batteries or ...better still an adapter which is unavailable here...better still an 'ic2' to JST adapter to fit the many 850 batteries, also unavailable. A$289 plus the A$44 IC2 battery. I think I will stay full size.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We know you're a big fan so we're definitely sorry to hear that :( The fans can be a bit noisy because they're spinning at upwards of 70,000 (wow!) RPMs at full throttle with 3S batteries. The sound is somewhat high pitched, but it's not quite as "loud" as it may seem. Also, you can always replace the IC2 connector with a JST (it will cost you some performance, but it will work!), XT30 or any other connector of course (more on that below). And as you know, we don't set the pricing in Australia...our distributor there sets pricing based on import costs, overhead, support costs, etc.
