    A UNIQUE LARGE-SCALE JET EXPERIENCE
    The E-flite® Viper 90mm EDF is the Smartest, best handling, and easiest to fly large-scale model of the popular jet yet! It’s a scale jet that flies smoothly and handles like a sport airplane - yet is also capable of incredible aerobatics and top speeds! But what truly sets it apart is how easy it is to take off, fly, and land, which makes it the BEST choice for a first large-scale jet model. Assembly is fast and simple, with no glue required. The lightweight, composite-reinforced EPO airframe is factory-finished in the now iconic Aircraft Studio Design trim scheme from the popular 70mm model. And the eight factory-installed digital, metal-geared servos with ball-link equipped linkages, plus control surfaces with pinned hinges, deliver crisp and precise control at every speed. Functional features include flaps, LED landing and navigation lights, and electric retracts with shock-absorbing, trailing-link struts on the nose and main gear so you can fly from grass and other surfaces with ease.
    The BNF® Basic version includes a 12-blade 90mm fan, powerful 6S-compatible brushless inrunner motor, and a 130-amp Avian™ Smart ESC that all work together with the expertly optimized ducting to deliver an abundance of speed and thrust plus a turbine-like sound. With this power system, the Viper 90mm is capable of level flight tops speeds up to 120+ MPH and offers great vertical performance with 6S 4000mAh to 7000mAh batteries. It’s also equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum™ AR637TA receiver featuring exclusive AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies. When using compatible transmitters, the receiver and Smart ESC supply battery voltage, current, motor RPM and other telemetry data in real-time - along with optional-use motor reversing to shorten rollouts after landing and for other special ground handling capabilities. An ARF Plus version is also available for pilots who prefer to install their own choice of ducted fan unit, motor and ESC. Either way, for low-time to experienced jet pilots this model delivers a large-scale EDF experience unlike any other!
    High-Performance EDF (BNF® Basic version only)
    The 12-blade 90mm fan, high-power brushless inrunner motor and 130-amp ESC combine with your 6S 4000-7000mAh 30+C LiPo battery to deliver great vertical performance and a fantastic speed range with virtually instantaneous throttle response. There’s even room to fit two 6S 3200-5000mAh batteries so you can run them in parallel to achieve class-leading performance and flight times.
    Power It Your Way (ARF Plus version only)
    The ARF Plus version is ready for you to install the power system of your choice (sold separately). You can easily install a directly compatible 90mm fan unit, motor and ESC without the need for any modifications, or you can potentially install other suitable 6S to 12S compatible power systems too.
    Functional Features
    Factory-installed LED navigation and landing lights, nose gear door and flaps are functional features that take your experience to another level.
    Capable Gear
    Shock-absorbing, trailing link struts on the nose and main gear soak up the bumps of rough surfaces including grass and make it possible to fly from a wider variety of fields. The reliable electric retracts are equipped with durable metal components, and the steerable nose wheel plus wide-spaced main gear offers excellent ground handling.
    Unmatched Capability
    The Viper design offers incredible handling across a wide speed range and flight envelope. From slower-than-expected landings and low-speed passes to 120+ MPH high-speed flybys, the airframe and power system combine to deliver unbelievable performance and aerobatic capability so you can perform giant loops, rolls, endless knife edge flight, snaps, tumbles and other maneuvers almost effortlessly.
    Durable Precision
    The composite-reinforced EPO airframe is lightweight yet durable. And the eight factory-installed digital, metal-geared servos with ball-link equipped linkages, plus control surfaces with pinned hinges, deliver crisp and precise control at every speed.
    Easy Assembly
    No glue is required for assembly and you can have the Viper ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! The stabs plus the two-piece wing with hands-free connections bolt into place and can easily be removed for convenient storage and transport. Plus it’s factory-finished in an exclusive and unique high-visibility trim scheme by Aircraft Studio Design.

Okay, now I can to buy this as my FIRST JET and keep it as a sport jet for the future! Fantastic HH! Please continue to give your Product Developers autonomy to build what we all love! 👍🤙

    Pre-ordered this last year when it was first released then sold my Viper 70mm. To this day the Viper 90mm is the best flying airplane I've ever owned! This jet can easily grease 20-30mph crosswind landings using a 7000mah G2 pack. Thank you Horizon for another amazing product!!! 👏

    Just did 3 flights with my new Viper 90. Just very slow and really love the way it handles. When disassembling the plane I noticed that I forgot to put the wing tubes in. Luckily the screws kept everything together.
    Great first jet.

    So I've been flying my new 90mm Viper and I absolutely love it! I originally had the 70mm. And while it's a great plane, there were some issues that I just couldn't live with. The first was the poor landing gear. And the the second was the higher tendency to stall at landing. This plane improves on all of the issues that the 70mm had immensely! This is by far my flagship plane in the hangar.

    The pointed cones on the front of the engines is a movable (fore and aft) device to keep the shock waves from entering the engine when passing through Mach 1 and Mach 2 and Mach 3. My dad worked on the SR-71 and the U2 for most of his life.

    [EDIT] December 2021, I got the 70mm, with plans to get this at some point as my first 90mm!

    Big planes are cool. But don’t just get everything larger&larger. Accessibility for everyone is also important. Still harder to transport with the removable wing, coz the fuselage is fixed. And I think you can pack all those new features on the 70mm viper just fine.
    Btw, need some love for park flyer and ultra micro as well.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don’t forget we just announced a “park flyer” (Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m) a few weeks ago...and our next announcement will be something between ultra micro and park flyer size ;)
      Also, we typically release nearly TWO DOZEN new airplane models each year, from ultra micro to giant scale, from trainers and STOL-capable models to warbirds and jets. Around 2/3 to 3/4 of those are ALL-NEW designs, and the remainder are usually NEW updates/upgrades of previously available models. For example, these are the models we've released in the last year or so (and there would have been quite a few more if development/production hadn't been delayed due to the pandemic):
      E-flite A-10 Thunderbolt II Twin 64mm EDF
      E-flite UMX Citation Longitude Twin 30mm EDF
      E-flite Ultimate 3D
      HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m
      E-flite Conscendo Evolution 1.5m
      E-flite Habu STS 70mm EDF
      Hangar 9 Pitts S-2B 50-60cc
      HobbyZone Mini AeroScout
      E-flite F-18 Blue Angels 80mm EDF
      E-flite V1200 1.2m
      Hangar 9 OV-10 Bronco Twin 30cc
      E-flite UMX Night Vapor
      E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m
      E-flite Focke-Wulf Fw 190A 1.5m
      E-flite UMX A-10 thunderbolt II Twin 30mm EDF
      E-flite DRACO 2.0m
      E-flite F-16 Falcon 80mm EDF
      HobbyZone Apprentice S 2 1.2m
      So if you don't like this (or any future) announcement/release, you should wait a few weeks to see what the next one is...because it could be COMPLETELY different and something you like/want much more!

    • @enzok6414
      @enzok6414 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay okay .. i'm soo tempted - very nice plane indeed but I wish it some plastic around the battery bay to prevent softening of the foam.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The battery compartment is VERY large, the foam around the edges of the opening is quite thick and most of it is not painted. All of that in mind there was no need to add the expense, complication and weight of plastic edges to this model :)

    What an absolute beauty!!! Would this be suitable for a pilot like myself currently flying prop powered planes such Eflites warbirds to jets? Just seen the unboxing and assembly/setup with those marvellously funny chaps Pilot Robert and Captain Blaz, The Petrincic Bros. Horizon hobbies youve knocked this one out the park along with the real Viper.....F16 Falcon.

      We don't officially recommend it as a first ever EDF model (the E-flite Habu STS 70mm, F-15 Eagle 64mm and Viper 70mm are our top recommendations for that), but some pilots with enough experience and skill when it comes to flying "prop jobs" could succeed with this as their first jet :)

  • @craigschray4486
    @craigschray4486 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Habu or Viper for someone's first jet with minimal (year) experience.
    Current planes include Sport Cub S, Carbon Cub and Apprentice.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without a doubt the Habu STS! It can be used as a first ever trainer airplane, but it’s also the perfect first AND best all-around EDF jet. It’s less complex and easier to fly than the Viper, yet is still very capable as you can see in this video: m.th-cam.com/video/V6X3L3ahJ9Y/w-d-xo.html

    Did they address the issues with the wing breaking between the flap and wheel well that the 70 mil viper has

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That issue was already addressed on the 70mm last year, and the all-new 90mm model has a completely different two-piece wing design (as clearly shown in the video) so it does not have the issue.

    I have one on pre-order. How do you program the thrust reverse feature? The Draco had the instructions in the manual to program the propeller reverse. The Viper 90mm manual does not make any reference to programming this feature.

    I want to see the underside of the wing by the landing gear after that flight. Want to know if they strengthened the weak spot between the flaps and the landing gear.

      That issue was already addressed on the 70mm last year (the flap and wing design were modified to add more material and prevent the cracking), and the all-new 90mm model has a completely different two-piece wing design (as clearly shown in the video) so it does not have the issue.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some slight programming covered in the updated manual is required, but very easy to do and supported by the NX8 transmitter (and most 7+ channel Spektrum transmitters!).

      Because most people own and prefer to use 6S batteries :) We were able to achieve an excellent balance of speed, thrust and flight time using 6S batteries with the stock setup. We tested many setups from 6S to 12S, and this 6S setup offers the best blend of everything for the widest audience!

  • @gasolinediesel972
    @gasolinediesel972 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wait, you can run dual 6s in parallel? Wouldn't that be too heavy for the jet?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all! We designed it to accept up to 2pcs of 5000mAh batteries...though admittedly we think a single 7000mAh battery is the sweet spot!

    What could be the flight time, been conservative with bat

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Average flight times are around 3-6 minutes when using a 6S 5000mAh to 7000mAh 30C Spektrum Smart LiPo battery...flight times will of course vary depending on conditions, the performance of your actual battery, flying style/throttle usage, etc. There's also room to fit up to 2pcs of 6S 3200mAh to 5000mAh batteries to run them in parallel for added flight time (or in series for those who prefer to use up to 12S in the ARF Plus version!).

    What is average speed and flight time WOT ?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Top level flight speed is 120+ MPH. Flight times will vary greatly depending on the battery being using, the conditions, flying style of the pilot, etc. but are typically 3-5 minutes with 6S 5000mAh batteries and 4-7 minutes with 6S 7000mAh batteries. At WOT the current draw is around 120-130 amps depending on the performance of the battery and the conditions...and it is not necessary to fly at WOT the entire time of course!
