How to retrieve codes on a John Deere 6420, 6000 series

So the speed on my John Deere 6620 on the digital doesn't work or on the dial so is that a code or is it something that I need new fuse for it or do I need to delete all the codes or is there a certain code that needs to be deleted??

I’m having the same issue on the one we have. I haven’t had time to really look at it though. There may be a code stored in it but I don’t think that would keep it from working. I believe these tractors had problems with the instrument clusters but it could be the speed sensor too. It’s hard to tell without a scan tool to see if a signal is coming from the speed sensor.

So do you think I should get a speed sensor and see if it makes a difference??

It’s hard to tell, I’d hate to tell you to get a speed sensor and have it not be the problem. Without a scan tool I would probably try that first. You might be able to read the data pid on the dash in the diagnostic mode but I don’t know which one it is.

Is there a way to tell how many hours? Looking at a tractor with 5000hours but never know might be 15000

We only have the one tractor. I’m not familiar with the one you have sorry. I would try and get a repair manual that would give you the information you need to repair it. They are around $120 I believe for a pdf download. Sorry I could help.
