This video was exactly what I needed to learn informal Japanese! I’ve been wanting to learn this from anime/drama but it was difficult. But this video was easy to understand and extremely helpful ❤️ I always love learning from your page and channel. Thank you for making this video. 田中先生ありがとうございます。😊
Hello Tanaka san!.. I've been in Japan for 3 years as an intern and also started my vlog teaching basic Japanese. Your channel is a big help for me to refresh my Japanese skills as well. Thank you so much!! 🥰
This is very useful, thank you so much. I've been learning Japanese in a 1-on-1 environment and we cover a lot of language, but it is always formal and follows a question/answer format meaning a lot of this language isnt included. Furthermore, textbooks don't teach this type of vocabulary because, once again, they stick to more formal conversational structures. However, I'm now in Japan for a month trying to improve my language skills in anticipation of moving here permanently in the next year or so and it's been very helpful to get additional instruction on this type of casual speech. だから本当にありがとうございます!
I'm Japanese, and I'm still learing English. Please forgive me if there are some grammatical mistakes in this comment. I watched this video and I think it is very nice! I recommend it. You would be able to use these words in daily life. I know Japanese is very difficult to learn. Actually, sometimes it is difficult for us. But, I don't want you to give up! I'm rooting for you! I'm looking forward to talking with you in each other's language. 頑張れ!🎌
Your English is quite good !I'm also trying my best to learn japanese .I wish to visit japan in future! It is a beautiful country with a beautiful language!
This is SO useful! I might be playing games and listening to this on the background, repeating phrases. It makes it a lot easier to get used to the language and I love it!
Dear Tanaka-Sensei. This is pure gold !! Your channel has just moved to my Number 1 resource within 5 days of checking it out and I'm so happy that I found it. You address very early beginners better than anyone. You also have interesting phrases I've never heard before like やっほー or うん/ううん. Also love Sushi-San and Egg-San. Please dont stop making these videos for the beginner community. ありがと
Along with anime, this and Japanese subtitles in series it has helped me alot! I was able to understand what a sushi chef said at a restaurant very smoothly for some reason thank you!!!
What I learned from this video? •Easy informal words/sentences •double t is prolonged in japanese This pushed me to go to learn Japanese, maybe in the place I am or in your videos
I have learned English since I was a child (My native language is Portuguese) and Spanish from school. These days I work with English book translation to my native language. I've been studying now Japanese and German (They are very different, but are both place I would like to visit some day). This video si very nice, helps others learn Japanese and Japanese people to learn English. As someone who loves language learning, I think you did a very good job. Thank you. (I am using a translator to write the Japanese part, I hope I did write correctly)
I heard that japanese people don’t use “Genki” or “Ogenki desuka” because it’s a way of saying “How have you BEEN?” To the person that you haven’t seen in a long time, So it’s not the “How are you” to use on someone you are meeting often.
@@alwayscorrect5403 I am a young Japanese man. I'm using Google Translate. I sometimes ask Frank about "genki datta?" (Did you feel well while you weren't meeting) to a friend you met after a long time. In my opinion, there is no "genki?" Used for casual greetings such as "How are you" in everyday life. I'm sorry if the answer doesn't follow the question.
It's really helpful to know that a lot of simple phrases about asking somebody boil down to: "Good?" "Good." "Understood?" "Understood." as in Wakatta would be the same word, but a different intonation changes the meaning a lot. Thank you for the video!
thank you for thiss!! ive been learning formal bc yk i wanna go to Japan, and so does my family. just incase i make a few friends id be using informal japanese!!
with this lesson that I just discovered, I don't have to feel bad about not keeping up with my duo lingo.. Here, I can speak full sentences in just one try!!! dang! this is good stuff thanks!
Funny how most of the phrases in japanese i kind of knew most of it it prolly because i used to watch too much anime (more than thousands of anime in mal last time i checked) and played quite a lot of visual novel back then. Recently i have been learning to read common japanese phrases with kanji and this actually helps me a lot in identifying the kanji used in common informal conversation. My initial goal is to actually being able to read japanese visual novel that does not have english localisation, might take a few years but starting with something is better than nothing at all. Hopefully my determination does not died out early xD
I made a quizlet with all the phrases and the hiragana for them. Just search the title of the video :) I love this format and have been watching this video twice a day and using my quizlet until I feel completely confident I know these. Thank you Tanaka san!

But this video was easy to understand and extremely helpful ❤️ I always love learning from your page and channel. Thank you for making this video.

I'm so glad this was in my recommended! I'm currently studying Japanese and find listening a lot easier than just reading!

That's right. "How are you?", Which is used to say hello in English, feels strange when used in Japanese as well.
Which “How are you” should I you use in that case?
Cause you are not Japanese lmao
@@alwayscorrect5403 I am a young Japanese man. I'm using Google Translate. I sometimes ask Frank about "genki datta?" (Did you feel well while you weren't meeting) to a friend you met after a long time. In my opinion, there is no "genki?" Used for casual greetings such as "How are you" in everyday life. I'm sorry if the answer doesn't follow the question.
@@KinoSeseri04 what does them not being japanese have to do with anything??
It's really helpful to know that a lot of simple phrases about asking somebody boil down to:
"Good?"
"Good."
"Understood?"
"Understood."
as in Wakatta would be the same word, but a different intonation changes the meaning a lot. Thank you for the video!

I hope it’s going well! がんばれ!
