  • Wood is frozen ash that I swear was getting harder as I went. All the saws needed a tune adjustment for the cold today, it was right around 10F. Ran same 20” bar and 3/8 chain on all of the small saws, 372 has a 24” on it. The 372 was brought out just for fun and I think y’all will enjoy the first cut I made with it. Sorry for all the bar changes, I would’ve cranked the video speed up faster than I did if I could.
    Saw mods are as follows:
    262XP - MOFO KS cylinder (220psi), HDA-87 carb, timing advance and muffler mod.
    357XP - ported by a me, BG delete (190psi), timing advance and muffler mod.
    254XP - not ported yet, thin base gasket (190psi), HDA-199 carb, timing advance and muffler mod.
    372XP - ported by me, XPW 75cc cylinder, BG delete (190psi), RWJ-4 carb, timing advance and muffler mod.

    My grandfather has a 262xp, he bought it 21 years ago and it's still working like brand new. He took very good care of it, Husqvarna has best chainsaws ever!

      Absolutely! I use the 262xp my grandfather bought new in the mid 90s. He worked (professional lumberjack) full time with it for 1 year and has been his spare chainsaw for years. They're excellent chainsaw!

    Hi.
    I have 22 years old 254xp is still work really hard. (18" 3/8)
    Tune only very hot engine remember!
    I think that you not good tune husky (more rpm)
    Maybe my husky is better condition...
    Nice vid. 👍

      MrSkipek Greetings from the USA. I love my 254XP it is a great saw! You are absolutely correct about tuning a hot engine. These saws were warmed up enough to make the small adjustment needed for the cold temperature that day.
      All my saws are modified so they naturally want to run a little higher rpm than a stock saw, a factory spec tune is way to rich for them. If you listen they are all safely 4-stroking after making cuts. I tuned them all where I would tune them for working all day long. They can all safely tune much higher.

    • @MrSkipek
      @MrSkipek 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@xpslinger8171 I meant to say low rpm.
      Good tune husky sound like a whistle (top rpm and power compromise), you know 😉. Spark plug colour says everything.
      Yup me to love my xp 💪.

    • @xpslinger8171
      @xpslinger8171  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrSkipek ah got ya. Yup I could’ve twisted them up higher but that’s not where I run them while working. 254 safely tunes to 14.8k, 262 will go 15k and 357 is safe at 15.2k. Those are what I would call “play tunes”, kinda pushing it after a long cut. Not where I would put them for work.
      You know how these “shootout” videos can be, it’s tough to keep everything 100% even.

      14,8k... Yup it is whistle 😝.

      @xpslinger8171  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrSkipek no sir my plugs are gapped factory. And yes they whistle when they’re cranked up...lol. I have another video of my 357XP on my channel, she’s cranked up in that one, 15.3k if I recall correctly and it’s whistling nicely😁.
      And no problem on the translation, you have better grammar than most people I know that speak English as a primary language! Lol

    I have a 262Xp and a 357XP as well they are my best saws, I have one issue with the 357 that mabe you can help me with. The mounting springs seem very weak and affect the throttle position as you cut. Are there heavier springs available for this saw? Thanks

    • @xpslinger8171
      @xpslinger8171  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      james ranger Good morning James. I’ve never experienced the issues you described. I just checked the parts list and there aren’t stiffer springs listed for the 357. Are your flex limiting screws and grommets in place? They are numbers 13&14, 33&34 in the parts diagram link below. If the screws are there but the grommets are missing it would cause excessive flex and perhaps cause your throttle problem. Hope this helps

    Thanks for all your inputs in As.I learn a lot but cad strikes now hard :-)and I have now a 298 thick rings jungle m,044 epa 12mm,362cm v.2.I lost a good 262xp for 240 usd because buying without testing and don’t have trust have done oem materials repairs at that saw.At net they say a 560 is a improve from the 262 xp from filters and av.is that 254 xp a 86 reference version?Can you give your opinion?

      andré Campos Hello Andre’ thanks for the compliment on the video, glad you enjoyed it my friend.
      The 560 or 562 is definitely an improvement over the 262 for filtration and especially AV. 5-series saws are so smooth they don’t feel like they’re running when compared to an older 2-series saw...lol!
      My 254 is a 1993 Model, so it doesn’t have the small combustion chamber of the early 154’s and 254SE’s.

    There’s no replacement for displacement this video says that

    • @xpslinger8171
      @xpslinger8171  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bill porciello, Yes sir you are correct. But there’s also design differences that play a part. Prime example being the bottom fed quad transfer ports of the 357 vs the closed port cylinders of the 262 and 254. The 262 still pulls away from the 357 with its 10% displacement advantage but its a very narrow margin. I believe this is due to the modern design of the transfers. One thing is for sure in my mind and that is all 3 of these saws are a pleasure to run.
