Hey Alex, creator of the Missile R here, much love for giving the mod a go and having some very silly races in it! I thought I'd help give some tips and just provide some more information based on things I saw mentioned in the video as well as down in the comments: - Mega respect for running no assists! The Wreckfest assist "meta" is half ABS, off TC, and half SC if you're curious. I'd say the car is much easier to handle with those settings, but the no assist experience is truer to life (by Wreckfest standards at least). - I believe the reason you survived much better than the AI's on the figure 8 was because of a Wreckfest mechanic I'll call "attacker protection." Hitting the side or rear of another car with your front end protects you and puts most of the damage on the other car. The AI's were mostly on the receiving-end of your hits and so took most of the damage. Plus you were correct in pointing out that the AI's hit walls and lose HP much more often. There's no protection when hitting a wall, and as you probably know the Wreckfest walls can mess a car up pretty quickly! I'll consider adding more HP so that chaos races can go longer without all the AI's DNF'ing. - The mod works in multiplayer! It requires a bit of faffing around with server settings, but there have been a few multiplayer community events hosted with the Missile R. I agree with other commenters that it would be fun to see the filming crew fool around with the mod! Wreckfest's desync issues could be a problem though. It was a wonderful surprise seeing this video pop up in my subscription feed, I discovered FailRace from the first Survive the Hunt and have been watching ever since. Thanks again for giving the mod a go and keep it up with the great videos!
When I was watching Alex do crash canyon I was thinking this would be better having the fail race crew drive the other f1 cars and after you saying it works on multiplayer I am hoping it does happen
I believe it isn't so much the front of your car hitting the side/rear of another car that changes the damage calculation but the speed you are going relative to them. This is a pretty common gameplay feature in demo derby racers, both Flat Out 1&2 worked this was along with Test Drive Driven to Destruction with the added feature in that game that hits to the rear of a car would do less damage as the engine is in the front.
Livery notes: The green and blue car is based on the original Jordan 191 from, well, 1991. The all-yellow car is running the 1987-1990 Lotus livery (Lotus switched to a mostly white car for 1991 and Benetton took on the Camel sponsorship, but the car here isn't a Benetton because that had more green and blue). The blue car is a Ligier, which of course was bought by Alain Prost in 1997 so you weren't completely off the mark there even though this particular car is clearly meant to be an early 90s Ligier.
Going through the back catalogue of videos and came across this. My immediate thought on the first lap lap was "holy crap it's an entire field or Derecks!"
Now this is what I call fun - this is 100% Eddie Soundhead certified, cos you need to be certified to drive these on anything other than a Formula 1 track. And more things we learned: - There needs to be a F1 race at Laguna Seca - There really needs to be a F1 race at a rallycross track - We need some more classic liveries for these Missile R cars - There seriously needs to be a F1 race at a figure-of-eight circuit - And there absolutely, totally, without any shadow of a doubt, needs to be a F1 race at Crash Canyon Are you taking notes, Liberty Media?

I love those cars and liveries, not only is it the best era in F1 history, but the fun thing it reminds me so much from Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix games especailly the ones where they did not have the F1 licenses so they just did F1 but with different liveries. Almost GTA-style so to speak. I also like the 'arcade' style of racing, though the agressiveness and the off-shooting is too extreme (well what can one expect from wreckfest), i do like the feel of it. It reminds me of classic Need For Speed too. would love to have a go at this. looks like loads and loads of fun.
Was kind of disappointed Wreckfest stopped having DLCs released because I would've loved exactly this, F1-style cars. But knowing this exists makes me happy.
Finally F1 racing where the wheels doesn't fall off all the time. Nice roll btw This is so stupid, but in a good and very entertaining way. AI is surprisingly good with these cars.

With the amount of crashes and trips to space by the AI, this could be a FailRace fails video on its own. With enough laps and a skinny enough track you could just hang back while the AI murder themselves then just cruise across the line in first with everyone else DNF-ing.
I always wondered how you got around without spinning for the most part, I play with a very blunt keyboard and don't stop spinning from start to finish. Still do quite well thanks to the nature of cars to still turn in WF as they skid along. The S class from VeryTrackPack shows the A.I. off the best as they are all trying to win a race for the most part instead of being 3/4ths a field of wankers. Bristol shows off their strengths very well as Bristol dirt shows off their weaknesses. Seems like half a dozen A.I. cars are tuned very well for the new track Torsdalen.
As always: You're not aggressive enough. The AI in Wreckfest CHEATS. They accelerate quicker than you out of nowhere sometimes. The reason is good old rubberbanding aka cheating. This is also why there's always exactly one AI car in front. He cheats even harder than the other AI cars. The solution? Drive aggressively. Ram them off the track.
Straight from the devs I can confirm that rubberbanding is not a mechanic in Wreckfest. The only way AI's can cheat is if they are given better parts than the player's version of a car. The base game AI's usually only have upgraded brakes to compensate for them wanting to under-brake for corners. They won't have more powerful engines nor accelerate quicker, which can be confirmed by comparing a fully upgraded AI's PI score to a fully upgraded player car's. This holds for the Missile R as well, the only upgrade the AI's get are slightly more powerful brakes.
Cool to see the mods, would it ever make it to console versions? It would be an interesting one. Add some armour modifications so you can make it into Mad Max type weapon of choice, a vidyagame version of the Lotus F1.
Even if you go to all the trouble of setting up custom AI profiles (with regards to modding), it's a completely random crapshoot as to whether the game will run more than a handful of them (3 is usually all you'll get best case scenario) that will be able to fully run the exploits of a very powerful car/handling machine. I spent dozens of hours building large pools of modified AI profiles trying vainly to get a full field of capable AI with cars varying from 8-- to 1500hp+, and as said, the most I'd ever gotten that will really challenge you to drive the nuts off the car, is 3; 2 is more likely. The rest even on aggressive settings will make it their lot in life to destroy your car AQAP.
No big deal, but there's a lot of audio clipping in this one so your mic might need turned down or something. I hear it, but I also confirmed it in an editor. The game audio is so low that it's effectively inaudible. No gripes, just hoping to be useful.
Fun video. But I do just prefer videos of racing against other people. The ai in many games is just not as fun as people can be. I mean, yes, ai can cause some massive crashes, but nothing is as unpredictable as real humans.

I love the F1 mod. But they are very hard to control when you get around 175 mph on the Talladega track. The rear wants to pass the front.

Your "turn 1" is actually turn 2 at Seca. Turn 1 is the little bend between start/finish and the hairpin.
