This was really helpful! I was going to go through and try and compare. I think I’m just going to make tag rings and find contrasting colors or monochromatic combos to work with. This just shows how tones and color combinations there are! Looking forward to SU moving forward with the old CTMH customers and scrapbooking etc.
I am a hobby SU demonstrator pretty much. Have always kept my older papers. I still have CTMH papers from over decade ago and have pulled them out lately to make church cards and combining SU colors and they play well. I also still have my old SU stamp pads and reinkers.
SU has the Multi Color packs of paper, which I like to buy. Then if I really like a color, I buy a pack of that. If you don’t want to buy the SU ink pads, buy the SU Markers. You can use the markers on stamps and if you really like it, then buy the ink pad.
I appreciate this so much. I was with CTMH up until 6 years ago but wanted to try SU. So my bestie joined CTMH, and I went over to SU and we g0t to enjoy the best of both worlds. Now the companies are merging and we're both so excited. In fact, when we heard about it in February we sat down and compared our paper/ink colours. Your vlog has enhanced out comparisons. I wish CTMH ink pads were moving over though...or at least the inks. I confess I love the magnetic ink pads, and the larger bottled inks. Thanks again
I’ve pretty much switched from Close to My Heart to Stampin Up over the past few years regarding cardstock and papers, but I continue to use my Close to My Heart stamp pads and for the most part they work very well.
That is one thing I have always loved about CTMH cardstock is how well it blends with other companies colors. I think it will be very easy to incorporate my current stash into useable product to mix and match with SU.
Seems my post disapeared,so i will start again i am a SU demo, i have my own personal opinions so the SU inkpads went to foam and since this change back in 2018 was not their best decision .But because the felt was thinner on the old pads compared to CTMH after a while the middle of the inkpad started to bevel, they have had various problems since ,ink contamination and bubbling on some colours i repeat some colours .a while back a defoamer was added to the ink pad .Some of mine still bubble .The inkpad plastic case is sometimes difficult to open it is a very tight fit .Some people have difficulty opening them still and so cannot get on with them ,Since they brought out the new style case back in 2018 .It is the foam which is what i do not personally not like at all.felt inkpads soak up ink instantly and always will and distribute ink evenly foam does not .Honesty is the best policy and no matter how one wishes to get sales advice is crucial . i think it fair anyone reading my post is warned in order to re ink your pad you need a teaspoon or bone folder to smooch the ink into the surface of the foam if you do not it wont spread at all and sits on the surface .The CTMH magnetic inkpads you are used to . I would personally keep them and makers may find SU pads more of a challenge to use . I have converted all my SU inkpads to a CTMH older swivel felt pad my personal decision i do not expect others to go this route. but iam a stamper and i do not want to wasting time playing with inkpads all day which i do not suit my p[ersonal needs .On You Tube you i heard CTMH inkpads maybe made by SU eventually a period time was stated 2 years . a CTMH person has said this so if i heard it so will a majority .So to all makers out their keep your inkpads and see what the future lies ahead. PLEASE keep this post because crafters should know and make their own personal decisions ,when cost and investing into new products are involved . I have been a demo 3 times so have lots of experience have 24 years of SU catalogues .I am glad SU are finally moving forward with catering for not just cardmakers but a new venture of scrapbooking lines .It is sad a closure of a great company has made SU make the decision so i hope all makers who have joined will settle okand feel their way around .
This was so fun! I loved seeing the comparisons.... and, selfishly, I have to say that I think this is good for all of the new SU reps who are longtime CTMH leaders that own all the things to have a bit of a renewed understanding of how it feels to start from square one not having all the things to be able to show them the best way to start building inventory. It's hard to see reps making everything because they have everything. Cards kits that could easily cost over $100+ if you had all the things at your disposal... so being able to appreciate this mindset will only make all of the leadership that much better and helping customers get the best bang for their buck. I can't wait for unboxing videos!!! You know you're gonna have to do some now!!! :) I think it will help all of the new SU reps to be so much more approachable for newbies! I love how you're embracing this... you are such a Godsend to us crafty people! Love you sweet friend. This is going to be fun. I can't wait to see what they do to branch out in the memory keeping community. I have always looked at myself as a memory keeper who makes cards.... not a cardmaker (cards were usually made from the scraps I had leftover! LOL)
It would be best to choose a darker color for example a cherry cobbler which you can stamp off and make much lighter try to stay away from buying the Pastels or what we call and stamp them up the subtles
The closure if CTMH makes me so very sad. Im thankful SU is picking up more scrapbooking products. I very much appreciate this video. I still prefer CTMH cardstock colors. (Not a fan of the "yellower" warmer undertones.) But I'm hopeful for the future products with SU.
Ive never seen CTMH cardstock but I love the 2 toned idea! Maybe SU will work on that? And haha, I’m sitting here shouting out all the old names of colors, lol!
I’m wondering at this point if SU ink refills would work for old CTMH ink pads regarding the colours we can’t get anymore. Like Peacock, blue belle, almond, and a few others. I’ll talk to my SU rep to see if she can help.
there is a different additive in the SU inks now, in comparison to what they were before the pads changed from felt to foam. So using new reinkers on old pads can mess with the colors! Just wanted to pass that along in case it is helpful. Great video!!
T he new SU ink refills work on old felt pads i have some in fact they work better so please let people find their way around and make their own decisions i hate the foam and all my pads are converted to felt .some ink colours contaminate easier than others mossy meadow is a pain and so is blackberry bliss.
#replay - for color swatches, consider checking some SU demos who do TH-cam videos. I’ve gotten a great set from a demonstrator who’s not my usual contact. I’ve even seen some who do swatch books for DSP as well as Cardstock.

As a new demonstrator, that's what I did as well. Great tip!

I think SU likes our magnet design too, so who knows? Stay tuned?
Hoping SU goes with magnetic stamp pads
Some of our CTMH older past cardstocks are similar to these SU colours, too.
Yes! Sooo many years of great colors❤️
I’ve pretty much switched from Close to My Heart to Stampin Up over the past few years regarding cardstock and papers, but I continue to use my Close to My Heart stamp pads and for the most part they work very well.
Great video ladies. I hope you continue to collaborate on You Tube videos.

Yes I agree, there was a lot of overlap in colors and shades❤️
This is such a great idea! I’ve been buying Stampin up products for about 12 years and love it!
great!
Thank you, what an incredible gift you've given us.. I miss the CTMH linen albums,
SU! Will be bringing an album line over
Thank you ladies, this was super helpful, timely and informative.
you're welcome!
Thanks for doing this! Appreciate the time and effort you took to make this video!
Glad you enjoyed it!

I've heard that SU does like the CTMH magnet style, so let's all just watch for the future and see what happens with ink :)
Thank you for sharing the colours. It's very exciting ❤😊
you're welcome!

Yes to all of this! And yes to unboxing videos too! All the fun things coming! Lol

Yes I think we are all excited to see what SU! brings out with their scrapbook line. :)
Hi Ladies,
I use to live in the Sherman, Bells, Savoy area. “Thanks” for this video, y’all did a fantastic job.
Thanks so much
thanks so much!
This was great to see the comparison.
I'm an SU Demo and still a scapbooker so I'm excited about more scrapbooking supplies in SU!
Yes, there are A LOT of people excited that this line is expanding. :)
Such a great video!! I was wondering was there a comparison for sage did not see that or maybe I missed it :)
Hmmm did we miss that color?
Ive never seen CTMH cardstock but I love the 2 toned idea! Maybe SU will work on that? And haha, I’m sitting here shouting out all the old names of colors, lol!
Yes!! Stay tuned!
I don’t like the 2-toned paper. I switched from CTMH to SU for lots of reasons. This was one of them. Will be interesting to see how things shake out.
Wild wheat is a great color for giraffes! I know this because I live across the street from the global wildlife refuge here in Folsom Louisiana
Oh wow!
I’m wondering at this point if SU ink refills would work for old CTMH ink pads regarding the colours we can’t get anymore. Like Peacock, blue belle, almond, and a few others. I’ll talk to my SU rep to see if she can help.
From what I’ve heard, they are different materials, so probably no?
@@createwithjanene got it. Thanks!
there is a different additive in the SU inks now, in comparison to what they were before the pads changed from felt to foam. So using new reinkers on old pads can mess with the colors! Just wanted to pass that along in case it is helpful. Great video!!

Does Amy do videos? Love this video!❤
Great question but I think so!
Very valuable video!!! Thank you for taking the time, this was awesome!!!
You're most welcome!

Love that you guys paired together!!!!❤❤❤
We had so much fun doing this, thank you!
we had so much fun!

Congratulations on your anniversary Amy and all the best for your next move Janene
thank you so much!
I am amazed how well stampin up colors and CTMH colors blend together. I am excited for the future of these two companies coming together !
Yes, we noticed that even some colors that didn't have a similar pair DID coordinate nicely with something, so that's a huge perk
Thank you ladies, sadly I don't own card stock from CTMH,But own lots of stamp sets
you're welcome!
Replay. I really like a lot of the CTMH cooler colors better than SU's colors. I'm an SU demo.
they both have some really beautiful colors!
I agree. Like the cool tones much more.
Thank you ladies. Great video.
your'e welcome!
thank you, that's kind!
This is so funny..I started with CTMH in 2000,then added SU about 2014!!😊
yes I know both companies have seen some shuffling ha ha
Welcome to Stampin Up! Love Amy Storey!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yay! Thank you!
Thanks so much - very helpful!
you're welcome!
Great Video!
thank you!
Which Basic White would you use for base pages for scrapbook layouts?
Oh, I think there is only one Basic White in 12x12.
Not the thick.
Great video!
Thanks!
Journey looks kind of like Blueberry Bushel
SU has the color coach CTMH might use!
I'll have to learn more about that ha ha! CTMH has lots of color tools so it will be fun to see what y'all have! :)
Love this!!!
I'm so glad, thank you!
What is CTMH ? I’m not familiar with it
Heard the answer to my question during the video 😅 Fun review, ladies! You’re both so sweet ❤
Super share
Is CTMH card as thick as SU card?
We can check the weight but to me they felt similar
Blueberry is close
thank you!
Congratulations on 25 years!! It’s so awesome that y’all are nearby each other! Welcome to the Stampin’ Up! community Janene 🫶🏻
thank you so much, everyone has been super nice. :)
