    You are the best reviewer ever. People need to know that blindly buying any cheap smartwatch (especially those *sponsored* ones in amazon , flipkart etc) that shows inaccurate information is such a waste and why Apple indeed makes the most scientifically proven smartwatches that can really save lives..and has saved many already :)

      Issue here is you cannot activate an Apple Watch without an Apple device. That alone steers the vast majority of people away and makes the Apple Watch a tie-in purchase. I only want to use the watch. I have no interest in being part of the Apple ecosystem.

  • @rodrigorios3271
    @rodrigorios3271 2 ปีที่แล้ว +100

    It is CRAZY how the AW’s sleep stage tracking can be so accurate considering how infrequently the AW measures heart rate during the night. This indicates that wrist movement on its own is a great proxy for sleep stages. A perfect example of machine learning opening humans’ eyes to the potential of hidden correlations. Regarding GPS tracking, I think that for running Apple is relying more on the accelerometer to measure distance and pace than on GPS. Whoever has used the Stryd pod knows that accelerometers are better than GPS.

    • @Mehwhatevr
      @Mehwhatevr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does make sense, the GPS can only be so accurate and won’t pick up on if you’re not walking or running in a straight line

    • @ericy1005
      @ericy1005 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I've never used Apple products but it may be time to ditch the Android and Fitbit. Fitbit wants to charge monthly premiums for what's basically bad data. Apple has obviously put a lot of time and money into their health metrics on their AW. It's very impressive to see what they're able to do with sensor data on your wrist. I wish the battery life was better and it's cool that the AW Ultra has extended battery but my guess is they need to burn more power to get good sensor data. If you don't have good sensor data how can you have any kind of accurate health metrics? Apple is not only getting good data but they're figuring out how to write the software to use it most effectively. It's very impressive and I think it's time for me to just bite the bullet and learn how to use Apple products.... And how about this guy's channel? Apple should be paying him because he's not a fanboy and is simply showing their product capabilities. It's actually crazy how much better Apple is than Garmin and Fitbit when it comes to accuracy.

    I follow you since the very beginning and think you’re the best wearable reviewer out there, especially for the accuracy of your scientific and statistical approach.
    However, for the sake of the quality of your videos, I would really appreciate to see bigger samples in your “full scientific reviews”. For example, a sleep monitoring test with a sample of two nights may be more appropriate for an “early scientific review”.
    I know the new Apple Watches have just been released and it’s a very hot topic right now, but on the other hand it’s difficult to understand the overall precision of a tracker in so little time.
    I’m writing this “critical” comment because I really think your videos are the gold standard for any wearable user!

  • @BrianJones-wk8cx
    @BrianJones-wk8cx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thank you again for your work! In the spirit of most scientific methodology-do you account for different bands across Apple Watches, or do you use a standard, single band for all testing to equalize any potential fitting differences which might impact accuracy rather than the sensors themselves tracking differently? Put another way, you do standardize Apple Watch testing using a single band for all testing, or has each Apple Watch been tested with different band types inserting potential differences in fit across tracking? Given that all Apple Watches seem to perform similarly, I imagine the difference may not be huge, but I wonder how it may alter results (one way or another), if at all?

    So I fully understand it doesn't have ECG, but single lead ECG is not that accurate anyway, but I know Apple watch has the ability to warn you of irregular heart rate issues which have nudged people to the doctors to get full tests and is great pre Warner. @@pursnikitty I think like you mention it does, but ide love for these guys who review these products to look into this aspect deeper, as I feel for lots of people not knowing what Irregular heart rate detection can actually pick up on, like for example it can be a pre Warner for Afib or even a MI I think it is really important and for people with a family history or personal history of heart conditions is something they should understand more, testers always go into the ECG side of things but whilst it's a handy tool, it's limitations are it's a 1 lead ECG, most hospitals even prefer 12 lead Vs the 9 lead I've worked with in the ambulance service.
      With articles out there stating Apple watch Samsung watch saved my life people are not realising that it's the heart rate irregular detection thats mainly been the alert that gets people to their docs or hospital.

    Great reviews! Incredible Details. Interesting to see, that the "expensive" Watches from Apple and Huawei seem to be always at the top, while Xiaomi, Samsung, Garmin, Fitbit and so on have more variation in terms of accuracy and discipline. If I wouldnt have the Apple Watch Series 6, I would buy it- or the Huawei Watch GT3 Pro. Super Arbeit, weiter so! Die beste Seite zum Thema Smartwatches die ich bisher finden konnte- mit Abstand! Endlich rein faktenbasiertes Datenmaterial ohne Fanboy-Gehabe (wie es die meisten Tech-TH-camr tun)

    Got a brand new Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen for $150...waiting on it being delivered. My primary hope is to replace my Garmin Forerunner, which I use for all of my running. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the battery life of the SE 2. Outside of that, it just seems in every capacity it's a far better watch from a running/fitness perspective than any of the low-range Garmin (e.g., like the forerunner 45). Plus, all of the integrative features within the Apple ecosystem for productivity and general use with my iPhone.

    I love the Apple Watch Health tracking. The only issue I have is when it’s tracking steps. As I am a full time wheelchair user, I have my watch set to pushes instead of steps. However, I do seem to get many steps during my day. Don’t know why this happens & i’m not sure if that effects my pushes count. Do other wheelchair users have this happen to them

      @@WheelieGayJay hey, don't call yourself disabled. I didn't say anything because I don't want to sound cliche and all but I really admire you. And okay, I will buy one, probably SE 2 since it fits my budget well and only recently I bought iphone 13 also so am very new to the ecosystem. Can you please reply one last time about battery life? I mean I know the watch has to be charged daily but what I mean is that the watch will last 2-3 years right? I am not rich or above middle class so if I invest good amount of my money, I would appreciate if the product lasts for some time.
