Good review, and comparison to the DJI Mini 2SE. I actually have an Atom on the way currently. One key item most reviewers keep omitting, is that the DJI app will not work on most common low to mid grade smartphones. This was the key difference that lead to my decision to purchase the Atom over the Mini 2SE.
I pulled the trigger on the new Atom. Amazon had it at my door the next morning before the sun came up . Took three days for the rain to stop.. Super happy and amazing. Feels like a real machine. Not a toy

I have done tons of research on drones, narrowing my preference to the Potensic ATOM 3 for our son. Ironically, I was just showing my wife your review, and at around 4:44 min. into the video, I was like, "Hey, that slide (whom our son has ridden as a little tyke 8 years ago) looks familiar!" Then at 4:50 min., lo and behold! There you are, pulling away from the Veterans Memorial in Huntley -- literally right down the street from where we live! Nevertheless, your review sealed the deal. I just got my Atom. Haven’t flown it yet. I took my Atom SE up to over 2600 feet after the altitude restriction was lifted. The wind was certainly an issue up there and the video is a little jerky at times. Looking forward to sending the Atom up with its new gimble and zoom.
Returned FIMI and bought the atom one week ago, I had to say the atom is awesome, love the fast charging hub.
The hub is underrated.
I liked it so much I bought another, in the UK we just have issues with constant rain and low dew points that cause fogging on the lens, however in nice bright weather and warm no such issues. Easy to fly and good enough range for the hobbyist, a good starter drone. I'm now looking forward to Summer and vacations. Only crashed once and my own fault the drone was facing me and I forgot orientation and reversed instead of flying forward🥺
I looked at DJI Mini 3 Pro as I liked the features on it but as a pensioner in the UK way out of my price range.
No obstacle avoidance , I only noticed this after I orderedon Thursday night & it arrived yesterday. Good thing is the price went up by $110 CAD🇨🇦 the next day so I bought the fly more combo version for $440CAD.
It's my 1st drone so.will see how it goes following my Electric Scooter.

The flight restrictions with any DJI drone is a "no go" for me. I know there are multiple Go-arounds for that, but why bother at all with a sub 250 gram drone? I just ordered the Atom. I think the price is an excellent deal for what you get. Thanks for another great review.

Loved my Atom for the 6 weeks I got to fly it. Went up today, lost connection (was close to me at max height, I live way out in the country no interference at all).....drone crashed, I went to get it and noticed burning plastic smell. The battery and inside of the drone have burn marks...had no warning, was no wind. No clue why that happened, I bought the fly more package so for that reason I'm going to plop down the $200 for the replacement drone and hope I get more time with this one. I really do love the thing, it's been great, but I need more than 6 weeks for a $400 investment as I'm not a rich man. If this next one messes up I'll be moving on to some other brands, Autel, DJI, FIMI etc. Hoping for the best and happy flying to everyone, thank you for the great reviews Chrome, you're the reason I started this hobby with the Atom to begin with. 😊

Hi to all the Atom SE owners, have you upgraded your SE, optional camera zoom in zoom out 2024 optional update Atom SE.
If you live on the Gulf coast where military bases are abundant the DJI can't even get off the ground, even in my back yard.
You can unlock geo zones.
It seems that the video quality is slightly better on the mini 2se, but for the bundle price on the ATOM, can't beat it. And having three batteries is awesome. I ordered the ATOM, gonna give it a go and see if the video Quality is adequate for my filming needs. Would you say that the Mini 2 SE has better video quality or do you think they're the same?

@@HalfChromeinteresting that the Mini 2 SE has a lower resolution, but a better quality camera. Why is that? Is it because the mini has a larger sensor?
I have the Atom SE, the video quality is pretty good, it has a single axis gimbal with EIS, so there is some horizon tilt than can be minimized by slowing down and flying with a little finesse, but as nice as it is, it can’t compare with a three axis gimbal drone.
Do you know if the SE and Atom use the same battery? I can't find that info anywhere.
@@pearlthedrone the SE batteries can be used in the Atom Pro, however, doing so will bring the weight to 259 grams, and will require registration with FAA and remote ID

The budget drones have certainly come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years, I'm pretty sure Fimi is the manufacturer. I was bang on with your criticism of the price- if they can shave a £100 off the combo they should move a few, if you take into account the drones over 250g there is an even bigger choice. Let's not forget there are many countries in the world where flyers don't give any regard to the sub 250g rule.
It does have a lot common with Fimi
As I know, the ATOM is developed and produced by Potensic, they have their own R&D team and factory.

I Will Be Buying This Drone For Xmas Present If I Can Get It At A Good Price. Has All Right Goodies In This Drone, My IPhone 11 Pro Max IOS 6.5 Screen Fits In This Controller, Dual Purpose Unit . Don't Need Built In Screen Controller. Does The Job Without Breaking The Bank. A Few Firmware Updates Over Time Will Do The Trick, Would Like To Have Landing Light On The Bottom And Lights On The Drone To See It In Gloomy Conditions. Thanks.
How much does DJI compensate you for your videos? I have both a mini 2 & the potensic atom & if you say the mini 2 has the better camera, I question that big time. Other than distance is the only advantage. I,m use to like your videos but question this one
I wish they paid me. I like the Potensic but the Mini 2 camera has better dynamic range and lacks the soft spots in the corners that the Potensic has.

If you want to use a tablet instead of a phone, you have to use a tablet that has 4g or 5g service. Make sure the tablet is no more than a few years old. I bought an 8" Samsung galaxy tab A that was made in 2020 from eBay for $40 and it works good. The older tablets are too slow and the screen freezes constantly. The newer the tablet the better.

Always makes me wonder, we are advertising like 4 miles range as a distinct advantage of the drone capability, but then always saying that you must keep the drone in your visual LOS.....so what's the point in 4 miles range then lol 😂. You'll lose the visual after a hundred meters! So what, don't fly beyond that? Naah, I am buying it for a range!

Faith mini i almost bought. The atom seems to go much further. With almost 9 minutes more flight time.. its a tough one . Tempted to get the atom. But looking at the cfly faith mini also
They are both solid options but I’d suggest the Potensic right now.
Don't buy the toilet bowling cfly mini.. Even the mini 2 from cfly just don't buy it..

If this Potensic Atom had the follow-me as good as on my L109 Pro it would be absolutely amazing and a true DJI alternative. But instead they went useless active-track. Stupid stupid stupid.
Honestly asking, what is the difference?
@toddbecker7462 active track follows a subject visually. Typically better framing but can lose subject. Follow me follows the remote. Better tracking but the subject needs the remote in shot and you have to manually adjust the frame.
@@toddbecker7462 Yes follow-me follows the GPS coordinates of the phone, or controller when that has build-in GPS. There ae basically two types the way it is programmed: compass, and string. Only compass type is usable in real life. It will stay north south east west the whole time. Which means you can have it fly in front or next to you and steer it around trees and stuff if needed. While string type slides away and then only follow from behind.
Active-track is optical. The software recognizes the shape and keep that in the middle of the frame. But if for example you make yourself small it thinks your moving away and fly towards you.
Now I am not against active-track. It can do things follow-me can't. It's a cool feature to have. But people riding bikes soon find out it gets annoying having to stop every time when it loses you. Or when for example you have to use the touchscreen which is just impossible while riding a bike. Also for active-track to work it has to fly closer exactly where all the hazards are. The obstacle avoidance isn't a guarantee you will never fly it onto something or someone, especially if they are moving towards the drone. How many are going to risk their $1000 DJI if you can't rely 100% on the obstacle avoidance. Without obstacle avoidance it's even worse.
GPS follow-me however works fine on a cheap drone if programmed right. My $130 drone does a perfect job. I stays in compass position, I can still use the sticks, and it even automatically updates homepoint so I don't have to race back all the way to where it took off. Very important!
I don't care for obstacle avoidance. I just keep it in view high and far enough from trees and houses it there are any. The shots may look a bit more boring, but they also look more smooth with more landscape in view.
The Potensic Atom only has a cheapish active-track and no obstacle avoidance. I think that a really bad idea. You can only use the feature walking slow and turn your head constantly 360 degrees like Regan in The Exorcist. Or you have to glue the phone to your forehead and watch the screen instead of where you are going.
Drone manufacturers and drone reviewers don't understand how a true tracking drone should look like. Riding a bike around the world is not their thing. They fly a drone in the local park and after two steps they believe the tracking feature is functional. But all who used active-track on their DJI drone and then buy Litchi or Maven switch to GPS follow-me. It's just more usable and quicker. Push of a button and it will stick with you. A drone without follow-me is a crippled product.

They do not. You have to wait for the mini pro drones for active track.
