This video helped me to understand frontal lobes. It also stated that it takes children 2 decades to develop their frontal lobes. It reminded me that we as teachers and parents need to be the child’s frontal lobe and help them develop it.

Thank you for explaining this. Until now, I had no idea that I was helping my daughter (age 9) to develop her frontal lobes. I was worried that she had a problem with this part of her brain due to a seizure she had at 5 yrs old. Now I can relax a bit. So thanks again!

Thank you! This segment is a wonderful supplement to Stuart Shanker's Self Reg approach about which I have been learning. You both help us to better understand how to reduce stress in children (and ourselves) and help them return to calm, focused, alert and engaged to support responsive parenting/teaching. Wonderful reiteration of the essential ideas in a simple, easy to follow presentation.

How important is the frontal lobes is in charge of controlling most of the abilities related to the personality and behavior of people, it allows to make decisions, plan, organize, regulate emotions, have self-control, flexibility, persistence, ability to take strategies, that is to say our executive functions, It is convenient that children (especially the youngest) are reminded of the objectives continuously and, by means of adequate motivation, facilitate the attention that we can favor by praising progress and establishing routines to carry out tasks. The novelty stimulates attention and encourages a proactive attitude.

I really have a need for a better information of a specific person. I wish there was someone that can share with me an assessment. The doctors are lacking in their urgency.

I was just diagnosed with adult ADHD a couple of years ago. All these executive functions don't really function :(

Actually the frontal lobes don't fully mature until you get to your late fourties.
