What's awesome is I genuinely prefer this type of footage to the over the top, cinematic stuff that people are doing with iPhones now. This is just so nostalgic and it's hard to believe it was recorded so recently - that's why it's so amazing.

i have a sony handycam dcr sx 45, and i absolutely love it. my parents were so confused why i wanted an old camerca, but i explain to them its for memories. They didnt seem convince enough. BUT thanks to my W dad he got it for me. and now i record so many videos/pics my friends and always bring it with me whenever i travel

how did you convert the camcorder onto your computer? currently trying to do a project for my film class
the camcorder came with a chord I was able to plug into my iMac, so i plugged the two into each other and turned on the camera while opening up iMovie, and the footage was imported into iMovie. sorry I'm horrible at explaining things but I'm sure there are more in depth tutorials on youtube, i figured out how to do it from some wikihow article.

Thank you! The handwritten-looking font is actually hand written, I drew the letters myself. The other font is just the basic Arial :)

hi, i just got a shitty camcorder and i'm having some problems with the audio. did you adjust the sound at all when you edited it, and if so, how?
I actually only made it louder, so not much editing at all. But I do have to say a bunch of clips didn't make the cut because the audio was indistinguishable

Did you make any color grade or this is what came straight from the camera?
I did edit it, I just increased the saturation and made the highlights purple. Not crazy different from what it looks like straight out of the camera!

uhh i'm not sure to be honest! i didn't change any of my camera's default settings though if that helps any

@@jmtoralba oh no no, i understand your question now! i actually just added black borders over my footage in my editing software after the fact. it wasn't originally filmed in 4:3

Hey! How did you get the yellow subtitles?(:
I painstakingly typed them all out myself haha. I used the editing program Final Cut Pro and just added yellow text in the font "Arial" and wrote out everything I wanted!
shoot in 4:3 ratio right?
actually, the camera shoots in 16:9, but I edited the black bars around the footage so it would look like it was 4:3 :)
