I make Dal Dhokli many times but I use temrind for sourness. We call it " Aamtitlya Patawadya " in marathi. This recipe came to us from our grand mother who was from Gujarat. Thanks !!!!!!

I am dogra from j& k.but i request to my mom plaese prepare this yummy dish once.
We dry roast dhania , Methi ,mirchi and a little chena dal and make a masala . We also add tamarind juice and Methi leaves and country beans enhances the flavour and a meal by itself . Adding a little Masala in wheat flower is a good idea .
Ruma Rao is it compulsory to add asafoetida??

Don't use blender...let the fall itself get mushy..

Nice recipe, its my favourite food.
But i guess you missed one important ingredients in dhokali - Ajwain.
And normally the dough is of a consistency where you need not apply atta while rolling the roti.

what u missed is how to eat it ...serve it with what ???? rice ? roti? gujrati cuisine is not very well known and people dont really know how to eat it...so mention that too.it is supposed to be had as a soup or side dish or what? what do u combine it with?
Mam we Gujarati we don’t soak the daal but at least if we soaked for 2hour no time or soaked overnight texture /taste will come out so good
