I have a collection of 1980s & 90s Coach catalogs that were sent to me at the time. I also own two original Compact pouches. In 1988, when I purchased a black one, the catalog lists the style #9620 with dimensions 7.5 × 7.5 x 1.5 inches. Strap was noted as 45", "extra long". I always wore it as a cross body bag & 45" was a perfect length. Sometime later, I bought another one in Bone and the tubular strap is shorter. Loved seeing the version you showed from the 1970s.
@@birdybloom2 I haven't done a full inventory of my catalogs as most of them are at my mom's house, but I believe they are around 1987 and later. I'm not on the Eye Candy group, as I don't have a FB account.
I just found two of these recently at my local thrift store, and scooped them both up! One was British Tan and one was Bone and both were in fantastic condition! I gave the bone one to my sister, and she’s been using it non stop❤. I think it’s very cool that the earlier version has a detachable double strap!
great outfit!!! those bags are just luscious with that leather, not bulky but look like they can fit what you need. Indeed they are special bags worn casually or dressed up. LOVE the hack to help shorten the straps!!
I’m not currently selling this one though I may in the future. I’m on Poshmark but not actively listing so my listed supply is low. Hope to open up my own store soon! posh.mk/Jz0BdNTnVJb
@@birdybloom2 Thank you. In the meantime, can you share a source for finding the 9620s? You've mentioned on a few of your videos that older Coach bags are somewhat easy to find, but I've not had much luck.
@@mrsmns2024 not all stores are easy. The early version of this Compact Pouch is not as easy. I look on Etsy, Poshmark, EBay, FB Marketplacr, Mecari and Depop (be careful with scammers on Mecari and Depop). Another place to look for harder to find items and if you are willing to pay more/fair market value is in the FB groups. Put out and ‘ISO’ post (in search of). You may find someone who doesn’t exactly sell but is willing to let an item go if someone asks.
@@birdybloom2 hi, I have come across a deep brown/ mahogany double straps one. So based on your video, do you feel it is indeed a late ‘70’s. You have the only one I have seen except for one that had sold on Etsy at some point. Found mine at a local thrift shop. Do you know any additional info on? Thank you so much. Cindy🐕🦺😎
@@cindylondon6459 love to see a pic! Maybe in the FB group Vintage Coach Eyecandy or via email at birdybloom_rehab@yahoo.com But what I shared is all I know! Deep Brown from that era would be Mocha by the way ;)
Good video. I have been looking for the compact pouch with the removable straps. Zero luck. Can you tell me if there's another name I may want to look under please. I like the idea of any of my bags being able to take the straps off to store them inside it's easier and takes less room on my limited shelf.
No, I’ll keep my eyes open but you might want to try an ISO post (in search of) in Vintage Coach Eyecandy on FB. Feel free to reach out to me or another moderator if your new to buying from others and have any questions about the legitimacy of an offer;)
You look amazing in that jacket!

Thanks Michelle. I did. A member named Kasey volunteered to help as did a couple others. Thank you.
Kasey is awesome! Wonderful!
great video! I especially appreciate the advice of how to better store my bags with tubular straps. Thanks!!

I have that compact pouch in mahogany purchased in 1985 in Manhattan on a trip.
Beautiful bags ❤I want one 🥰

Great video!!
I always enjoy your informative tutorials! They give some great ideas ❤
Don't get rid of the skirt. Find a good taylor to fix it no problem.
I confuse this with the Companion Flap 9076. I love all of these square format bags. Thanks so much for this info.
Love your videos. Did this style come in rust, or only red?
@@sagg9909 it was made while rust was a color so I would imagine it exists in Rust!
Is the camel pouch for sale/do you have an online store? I appreciate all the effort you make to find/share historical facts behind this brand.
That is the one I'm looking for too

Hi from Raleigh,NC. I was trying to reach out thru your Instagram. Wanted to ask about the double strap bag. 🐕🦺😎
Hey! Sorry, not on Instagram often. The one in the video? What’s up?
