This video is about Surpass Hobby 550 brushed motor with 5-Slot skewed armature, cheap price but has perfect slow speed and smooth startup. I choose Surpass Hobby 10T&12T 550 and surpass hobby 540 13T to compare with a black industry motor. Tests include locked rotor torque, unloaded startup RPM, max unloaded RPM, low speed and smooth startup, low speed crawl.

Thanks for the video, excellent test, I purchase the 550 12t, and use with a Hobbywing 1080 ESC, 3S lipo, of course.
I got the 35t motor from Amazon and have been using it for 6 months it amazing! Using a hexfly esc 3c lipo. Just ordered the 540 5 slot setup today. Can't wait for it to come in
Be careful about the 5 slot motor's temperature.

Thank you for testing this motor, very much appreciated. It's super hard to find information about it. For example every website says it's a 2S (7.4 Volts) motor only, but you are using it at 11.1 Volts and in the comment below you say it supports 3S LiPo, which is great. A while ago I excluded this motor from my possible purchases because I was convinced it was 2S only.
As I know, most 540 and 550 burshed motors support 3S lipo, and some motors even supporting 4S.
@@TommyRC you are probably right, it all depends on what kind of wire they built the motor. However I don't feel good purchasing a motor if the manufacturer doesn't even bother putting the specs on the website. It's basically a month I'm looking for a similar motor from a different manufacturer, but I can't find much where I live, so I'll go with this one :) . Thank you again, it was very helpful.

I want to ask, is it safe if i run the 10t 5 slot with hobbywing 1080 esc? Will it not fry my esc because the esc is rated at 80A?
Nice, can you please test the surpass hobby 12T 550 3 slot amateure motor.
It's black with a closed bell design, it seems many places sell it but I've seen no reviews or testing yet.
I think the 3 slot motor is just like the black can motor.
Which have more torque and rpm less turn or more turn
Tommy: what vehicle were you using those motors in? The 10T 550 seemed to have a better response time and better crawling ability than the rest of them. The ESC that came with the motor, what is it rated for?
I tested these motors with my 1/8 Traction Hobby Founder2 portal axles rig, it is 5kg in weight. And the ESC is good but not perfect in low speed crawling.
@@TommyRC My biggest issue with these motors is they can support 2s lipo batteries. I need a motor that can support 3s or its not worth having for me.
These motors all support 3s lipo.

Sorry, I don't have an austar motor. The magnet maybe FB9.
I feel like the 540 version, the 550 5 slot is a little disapointing. Both seem to have worse drag brake than the 3 slot versions.
Although the 5 slot 550 motors seem to produce more torque, speed and smoother start up unloaded. in the real testing conditions the 29t black can motor had the best drag brake, the slowest speed and the smoothest start up under load.
Do you work for Surpass?
Of course the 29T black can motor has slower speed cause it has low speed. If I compare with 21T black can motor, the simile speed to Surpass Hobby's, the result maybe will change. I don't work for Surpass, the Surpass Hobby's motor is cheap and different from other cheap motors.
Tommy, I have the 550 10T with the 80A esc surpass combo but the factory settings on the drag brake are horrible. I ordered the program card for the crawler ESC from Banggood but it was due to arrive on 5/21 and hasn’t even left the shipper yet. Are you aware of any compatible program cards in the USA or is there a way to program settings on this ESC without the program card? I tried my Hobbywing program card and it did not work and there doesn’t seem to be a manual program method

Thanks for the test with scale. But clearly Your 540 13T is broken or incorrectly assembled. The strength difference is too big.

cuz 10t has more amps.
This motors is a fk shit the 3 slots is ok bitt the 5 slots is shit motor burn on 10 minuts of run 12t so slow the evolution dont stay on the slots chinoman stay on the cooling of the motors the to sold this desproposit to sold 5 slots is crazy amd bad for our hobbie 3 slot us better
