    When I was into R/C hobby motors and cars i never heard about the ring? Thats interesting! I always wanted to know how to measure KV on brushed motors and after 15 years now I know! Top tutorial so i subbed and liked 👍. Cheers from Australia 👍

    Need to do a vid about that torque ring! Is it just shielding, is it redirecting the field, how does it do what it does? Seems pretty significant for some static object...

    I've always had my own ideas about "torque rings", but now I know for sure 😉 Cool video!

    I always thought it was just a ring so they can put the brand name on it. Thank you for this info!

    Years back. I ran lots of different 700 motors that had the ring. Running boats the ring came off to fit a water jacket on the motor. Did I lose some torque or rpms, not sure. But the motor stayed cooler. I ran 12, 16 and 18 cell monos and hydros.

    I still have several 12T traxxas motors kicking around after brushless conversions. I may have to experiment with this for the sake of engineering fun. 🤔😁

    I have jb welded magnets to the sides of motors...Increase the torque.

    hey! I came across your 2 videos on BLDC motors as I’ve been having troubles with mine
    I wanted to clarify if it’s possible for a spoilt motor controller to spoil a BLDC motor? As reference, I’m using these motor controllers from AliExpress on hoverboard wheels & I noticed using a working motor controller on this “spoilt” BLDC motor causes it to turn a bit at the start, before it makes a whirring sound
    Used this exact same motor controller on the another BLDC motor & it can move fine
    I’ve ran this “spoilt” BLDC motor through several motor controllers that were afterwards burnt so I’m not sure if the spoilt motor controllers could’ve indeed spoilt it
    Is the “spoilt” BLDC motor really spoilt?

    The purpose of that ring is to hold the magnetic field closer. Result is probably better torque.

    I think in the end you meant "unplug" your equipment so your batteries don't die. From what I understand, an ESC will still draw from the batteries even when turned off. True or False?

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I left the multimeter on last time I used it and the battery was dead. But, it most definitely is correct that an ESC will draw power from the batteries and its best to unplug the battery from the ESC.

    Hi anyone know kv of the 14t gorgon

  • @therctutor8100

    I would imagine that the ring increases torque as its extra metal for the magnets to “stick” to.

  • @RichardBrown-m6b

    I believe the ring is a heat sink😮

  • @did3d523

    kv on brushless is when motor is free.. if you connect to a brushed all is false . if you have tachometer juste take it on brushed direct

  • @Patrick3450
    @Patrick3450 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The ring will increase the torque. The kv will be lower with the ring

    Why not just put 1 volt thru the motor, then measure the rpm of motor shaft???

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not the standard and would lead to a different result.

  • @romper4444

    Ok hang on... Kv= 1355/7.2v =188.19kv?
    That can't be right? I'd guess that 775 motor is around 1700kv no?
