I like your vibe. Thank you for not doing the faked smiles,, shocked pikachu faces, obnoxious thumbnails. It's so overdone, woodworking youtube is becoming insufferable and overly commercialized. You bring together the best qualities of some of the best woodworking youtubers out there, and in a distinctly Scandinavian way. Don't change. Lean into it! Can't wait to see how your channel grows, the most you stay true to yourself.
Your channel is growing in the direction of furniture design skills of Four Eyes Furniture, the CNC/Laser/3D Printing skills of Frank Howarth, clean high res photography and minimal emotion of Pedulla Studio. Keep it up! Also, you have a bunch of nice stuff. Don't be afraid to show off the tools you like, it doesn't all have to be Festool. And everything doesn't always have to be new either, don't feel pressured to take sponsorships or free tools from Banggood/Aliexpress/Taobao. We're watching for YOU - your skill, your talent, your ideas. We don't care what brand of tool it is, or how much you paid (or didn't), and we def don't give a crap about sponsorships (most of us skip them w/ Sponsor Block browser extension, anyway).
Cheers!
Wow! This was truly heart warming and encouraging to read. Thank you for taking the time and effort - it really made my day. 🙏👊
Said it better than me. Love your channel. And when you do smile, it’s genuine and not for the camera!
Totally agree! Keep up the good work
That phrase about not smiling or not feeling much at all really struck home. I've been growing more and more into my carpentry skills, and even when I put up my new home-made kitchen cabinets I just looked at it all and felt... nothing. My wife loved them, but there was some part of me that just wasn't happy with it. I don't know where this comes from, but a part of me craves the perfection I will never obtain.
If the smile from your wife made you smile, you're probably good ;-)
Bro same for me. I just got font putting together the first couple doors for my kitchen. I made all the cabinets as well, and I was looking at the doors and hated them. I was so unhappy in the final product and wished I did them differently. Wife looked at them with the biggest smile and said they look amazing and she's so proud of me. But I still sat there disappointed in myself. I know I can do better, and with as many doors as I have to make I'll keep improving with each door and maybe by the final ones I might be ok with them.
I have the same issue, but I've noticed that when I see something I did well again months or years later, I get more satisfaction from it than I did when I first finished it. I think that during a project, we become so focused on minute details that it is almost impossible to be really pleased with it. But much later, we see it in a way that is more similar to the way others see it. Once the peccadilloes are no longer fresh in our minds, ability to derive satisfaction from the fruit of our efforts increases.
You should never have apologize for who you are! Part of the reason I subscribe to this channel is because you DON'T get overly emotional about what you are doing. I find it professional and very comforting.
Keep on doing what you are doing man.
Thanks a lot! Will do
AWESOME! The most beautiful router table I have EVER seen! I would happily display it in my living room - let alone my workshop! Beautiful aesthetics! Congratulations! All the best, Rob in Switzerland
New sub. The humor is what got me. "Some people say pocket holes are for losing shit..." priceless. That said, damn great content. Looking forward to building a router table myself now.
Everything you do is lightyears beyond my abilities. Perhaps this is why I am a subscriber. Simply astonishing.😳
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful router table build and accessories. Love the fact that you're just being you. Why pretend to be something your not or feel something your don't.
Awesome build again and I look forward to seeing your future shop build.
thanks! Next vid will be a shop build related - although mostly demo work.
I was a high end retail furniture designer for 20yrs and drawer slide instruction never become simple! I think that is why people are so loyal to brands- I was always a fan of Accuride, Blum were a real faff!
A man with perfection never smiles on his own stuff, just nod a bit and say "This will do I guess, buuuut... could've done this and this better". But when you see someone elses work you smile and enjoy it in some other way, but also if your wife gets happy from the stuff you make and she puts a smile on your face, I'd say that is a win win, because you still enjoy creation.
It is not high, looks like it will be easy to use at that height! And no one laughs and smiles just to make a video exciting! Impressive job! Just subscribed!
I like how you combine woodworking with 3d printing in a very practical way.
I like the height! I also like having tools, especially large “stationary” tools, on casters. Every time I have thought casters were unnecessary, I came to regret that decision.
The not smiling, etc - is probably due to living so far north.😉
Then again, I met my wife of almost 50 years in Alaska! Best thing that ever happened to me!
Stay safe!
Har själv haft svårt att le när jag inte menar det.
One of the most good looking workshops out there, nothing left behind. This is one channel I get happy when a new video is available. Thx 🤘🏻😃
Hey! Thanks a ton! Comments like this make all the difference!
Thanks, it was the most beautiful router table that I saw, very beautiful design, beautiful details, and good use of new technologies, new materials and products.
Is there such a thing as too perfect.Congradulations,I believe you've made the best looking and most functional router table I've ever seen. Great job!
It is an excellent, elegant router table, and looks quite efficient to use.
I am surprised how much enjoyment I had in watching this, as I will never build such a table or spend that kind of money. It's just good to know that you built it and that it exists in the world.
Thank you very much!
@TheSwedishMaker If you find the router table too high, you can swap out those wheels for retractable castors. The table can sit on the floor and then when you want to move it you step on the pedal and they lift up back onto the wheels. Amazon has them, Spacekeeper brand or similar.
If you're using sketchup you can install an extension called "open cut list" that can differentiate parts from a piece of furniture and give you a cut list, the detail of each part, and if you want to take a bit further, calculate the cost of the wood used in the project
I love the cabinet Pierre! Great features and a good design!
Thanks Preston!
Blum undermount drawer slides are amazing though, products and instructions I got the tip open option as well
I bought a sheet of this stuff under the name of Valchromat for my mft top. I love it. It's 19mm, instead of 18mm, though, and a has a higher density (heavier) than regular mdf. And I like the fact that you point out that you prefer to be you- I totally understand and agree. Really nice build there. Just a shame that stuff is so expensive.
Beautiful table, will definitely get more inspiration from it next winter when building my own. About the height of the table I was think two things. First, it might be good to also have it on casters in the new shop. Second what about just making the table lower, then if you want to take the casters away you can just add a base to the table. I have many times made what I believed to be "smart choices" for some future idea, but ended up just wasted time and effort in planning for it.
I just bought the Triton TRA001 beast of a router and put it in my homemade router table... it already comes with an integral router-lift mechanism so it was a simple build and has been a great machine over the last 5 years.., 😎👍☘️🍻
I’m thinking about doing the exact same thing. How do you like the router. Did you buy a plate or did you make one yourself? How do you like the setup?
@@janbudowniczy279 I bought a Trend plate because I got one cheap... as a machinist by trade, I'd have no problem knocking one up though, I just had no material handy at the time...
The Triton router itself is an animal, too heavy for hand use in my opinion.... but perfect for a table it even locks the spindle "automatically" when you wind it all the way up in the table (& locks out power)... so changing bits is easier... it also has speed control for bigger bits...
🧑🎄👍☘️🍻
Have you thought of using removable casters for the moment? I have them on a bench - too talll by a bit for most things but once I remove them to plant it for proper woodwork it's just right.
I like how you designed the side openings to be able to fit your Festool driver for assembly! Awesome work, the opening shots are spectacular!
She’s a beauty I love the router table. You don’t have to smile at the end but you should be so proud of what you have created ❤ oh and PS thanks for the shout out ❤
Thanks Steve! I agree with you!
Remember that decision not to get the Blum undermount drawer slides? If you had, you would have had adjustments to fix the forward tilt of the drawer face. I agree with your sentiment for you router table, but if you ever do a built-in for someone's home, this is something to consider. Nevertheless, it is a great looking router table and has some well planned features.
The slides that he ended up using, seem to have 3-way adjustment also, but maybe not as good as Blum's.
Thanks. I learned some interesting tips. One thought: I like to place the switch so it can be reached with my thigh in case I need to turn the router off and keep hold of the work piece.
Hey man, I never comment on a video but you designed a really great router table with a lot of thought behind it. I think we all appreciate it very much if you just show who you really are. As others have put it way better than me: Why show a facade when you just can show your real side?
Keep up the great work man!
Thanks a lot! Your'e absolutely right. It's one of the oldest advice - just be your self - yet it's so hard sometimes 😂
Very nice. I also just finished my first router table also with a lift from Sauter and that same stupid nvr switch. I rewired the switch with an outlet for the router and a much longer power cord to plug it in. I was also thinking about using black mdf but opted to use high quality birch plywood instead with front oiled with bangkirai oil witch turd out really cool.
Sounds like a good option. The sauter lift is so good!
Good job! I was laughing about your experience with the undermount slides - I can honestly say that I had the exact same WTF moments as you.
Looks great and the height looks about right for you. I would love to see a video on how you design the 3d printed tray for the wrenches.
Might do a video on that! Thanks
Awesome design and build. It looks like a piece of high end furniture.
Great video! 👍
Interested to see how the top wares over time + with use (both in terms of finish and material) I’ll keep watching! 😉
Thanks Nick! So far I basically havent used it so I cant really say. The fence had something sharp underneath that scratched the surface but it is only a visual defect. I intend to add two coats of a top coat Im not allowed to talk about ;)
I think it turned out great! Looks really good. And I agree, build it the way you want it and for how you’re going to use it. You’re the only one that’s going to be using it so it doesn’t matter what others might think.
I want to make a router table too. I’m so glad I saw this video, because it has given me some amazing ideas. Thankyou for being honest with the things that weren’t perfect (like the drawer runners). I also really enjoyed the beginning of the video -very Nordic Noir, and felt like the start of a horror movie.
Very nice! I decided on a saw table extension. I had to make a filler to make up for the difference between the original table and extension.
I'm wondering why you didn't use your Origin to cut the foam? It works very well, assuming your foam isn't too soft. The Shaper frame works very well for tracing tools and create the .svg file.
I actually like the laid back, not overly happy style you have. Thanks for the nice video.
table looks great, be nice to see a tutorial on mounting those drawer slides in future, 13 bucks sounds a lot more sane than the blum prices, i have the same fence from banggood, i like it, cheers
very nice design and build. Given your height the finished table does not appear too tall. It is often nice to have work pieces and the tool raised some to result in better hand control and improved vision. ❤
Dude, awesome video and router table!
thanks Jesper! Im heading to watch your video now!
I love your honesty, and I really think forced smiles can sometimes come across as insincere if over or under done (by anyone).
But then in this line of work, I suppose there is an element of performance needed to engage the viewer?
I love it when makers show the mistakes made alonge the way, because it's honest, human and actually very usfuluseful for viewers. But I also really appreciate the time and effort put into the production value of the content, which is another form of art, much like acting, just with a different set of tools?
But if you are not happy about some part of the end result, or have ideas of how it could have been better (even though it's too late now), please do always share those thoughts.
When you said "here's a bit of me not acting", I thought, "oh shit, here we go. This is going to be weird, or sad or something". But then you just said some normal shit like a totally normal human being, and it was... normal 🙂
I enjoyed this video very much, so you must be doing something right. You do you, man.
You are not only a maker, but also an educator, entertainer, performer, an inspiration to many and a business man, so I suppose there is a difficult line between being your true self, and what you present to the camera, while being all those things at once.
That does not sound easy at all, but here you are, killing it 👍🏻
Very often, I do not give myself enough credit or praise for the things I have achived (which is far less than you have achieved tbh), so I think a lot of this "advice" should also be aimed towards myself lol.
I hope maybe you can find more joy from your creations in the future, you deserve it.
Beautiful build. I love the design and features. Keep smiling 😉
Grymt bygge! Jäkligt snyggt med den svarta Mdf:n! Måste sno bit förvaringen! Smidigt!
Grym video!
Tack!! :)
I really enjoy your channel. It's one of my faves. I love your honesty. You do in fact have a lot to smile about though. You have made some really cool stuff and your skills with CAD and 3D printing are a great compliment. I use 3D printing throughout my shop (although, I have not learned CAD yet) and just recently started a series showcasing how I use it. Your channel gives me more inspiration! (also, I've been following you under my other account name since just about the beginning.)
thanks a lot! I´ll make sure to see your series - sounds interesting
I feel side casters or normal casters should always be the way to go, if you have normal casters you will need to clean under the thing which have them, but you can move it out of the way, side casters because you can move the thing if you need to while also not needing to clean under the thing but they can get in the way if the space is really tight.
Good thoughts! Will take that with me
I have to agree with you the plan is always Grandeur then the results! Great observation
Super stoked to find cutlist optimizer (cutlist evolution)
I think that router table looks fantastic! Great project for me in the next few months too. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Good luck on building yours
Cograts! Beautiful table! I admire your 3D print skill 🤘
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful, beautiful piece of work. Nice video work as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Really cool , I want one like that ! , but the cost évaluation isn’t good for professional use. You should count the work hour around 50 to 70e per hour . It might increase significantly the cost ! Anyway loving router table !
Love the honesty to this video. 👍🏻 I’m planning to remake my router table at some point. So I’m seeing lots of good design features I could use. But yet again I feel I need to buy a 3d printer before I can do justice to my router table plan. 😜
You need to get that 3d printer :)
@@TheSwedishMaker but I want a p1s 😜
lol.. I'm shopping around for a table, & saw this title...got a little excited at the prospect of an alternativer table option... except I'm sooo not ready to take on a project like that.. good heavens.. Maybe I'll have to settle for one of those "abominations"..
Nordic Humor doesn't require smiling and heck you live in a region with the most serial killers so nothing to smile about. Just be yourself and we'll keep coming back. Your nordic noir router table is gorgeous.
Hahaha - thats one way to think about it :) thanks!
Is that serial killer thing true.. 👀
I see it on tv… over and over … why do you think Scandinavia is so sparsely populated
@@justinstrik7125 I would guess because 50% of it isn’t really habitable. I wouldn’t think someone considering moving there would be all “What about serial killers?”
@@GenXCountdown It is not true...USA leads the world with most serial killers per capita (65+%) of all reported cases. Scandinavian countries are not even in the top 20...
Your attention to details is really amazing. Slick table. I wish I had the shaper origin too 😅😇
Can you walk us through your workflow for designing that custom fit marble look tool tray to hold the router bit changing hardware? It looks fantastic! Great video BTW, amazing work!
Thanks! I might do a video for that
Was there any prework nessescary to make cutlist work?
I assume you made the panels one by one? Or could you make like a single sketch of all the walls and extrude it out and it would figure the curs out by itself if that makes sense?
The black mdf is 🔥
Beautiful build and amazingly good video. I love what you do and I get everything you went through here.
There is one thing that I can't agree with and that is where you put the switch. Safety should always come before everything else. I know it's hard when you're really deep into a project to try to pull that extra bit of give a shit, but I think Safety corners should never be rounded or cut. 😅
Thank you! I agree with the safety. I might move it one day, but I actually feel like I can reach the new location as good as the old one. But If I notice it's turning into a safety risk - I´ll definitely move it.
« Have you seen the price of those? » Blum’s comment near a stack of Festool containers… 🤣🤣🤣
haha yeah that's a good argument! 😂
Absolutely stunning design and build. Very inspiring. Also very humbling.
Nice project, I am impressed. You’ve given me the inspiration to change my old router table ( which is exactly the same as your old one ) into something more user-friendly for me. Like you, I won’t smile when I finish my projects, I feel a degree of satisfaction for a bit, then I look it over to see what I could have done better, and move on to the next project. I admit I did smile a bit when you said `pick and choose’ because to my ear, it sounded like you said `Pikachus’. Small things, small minds I guess. Keep up the good work.
Oh that old one was a tough one to use :) I'm glad I'm not alone feeling the same way. Haha that's also a Pokemon isn't it?
If you want to hide the wonky drawer face maybe simply add weight to the back of the drawer? You could also add edge trim to the side of the cabinet that extends just beyond the drawer fronts.
Great router table. What thickness of mdf did you use ?
Looks great! I love that black MDF, and I wish we could get it in the states more readily and not cost a fortune. // I love the application of 3d prints to this project.
Thanks alot!
Nice work, but the costs involved in this are out of reach for a lot of people, you could probably purchase a decent table router for what you paid for your festool plunge saw! Having said that, it does look bloody awsome
I do enjoy your videos and dry humour. Keep your videos coming.
I do have a question regarding the fence rollers on your router fence. Do they roll in one direction only? Comments say they roll in both directions freely.
Thanks
Great job! Where did you get the clips for holding the hoses on please?
What is the name of the t-square straight edge you used with adjustable center stops? Thank you
Dennis from hooked on wood approves of the black mdf
I bet he does
It's a Mona Lisa of the router tables ;)
Great job!
Love this table, and the way you approach everything! Don't change, Pierre!
Stupid question maybe, but how do you get ChatGPT to generate an icon?
You could use outboard wheels and feet that could lower the table?
Tilt function is very nice to have. Great result.
thanks!
Thank You for you work. It was great. What was the pad you use to apply the finish ?
I can't believe you went from the same crappy table that I've been trying to use to that glorious router table. I doubt I'm competent enough to make it, but have enjoyed the video. 🖖
I have a similiar router table and put my NVR where you were planning on putting yours and did the cable through the carcass and smaller drawer arrangement you were thing about doing..... your lucky you changed your mind!! Lots of times when feeding stock across the table I accidently bump the switch and turn off the router mid cut so you ended up with a much better solution than me by accident! Nice build
Jag tycker den ser helt fantastik ut. Ger mig sug att vilja bygga en egen. Och var den du är, det uppskattas. Kärlek från norr
Impressive use of 3D printing on this build!
Bara för man inte alltid ler, betyder det inte att man inte är glad.
Thanks for the inspiring videos. I live by the philosophy that if you can make it your self, then why spend a bunch of money for someone else to do it for you. It 's also a fun process then that's a bonus. Im in the planning phase of a movable mitter/router-station for my workshop so this was super inspiring. Thanks you. ! And keep up the good work.
Another amazing build. You dont need to smile, all you need to do is transfer some of your skills to me by telepathy. Thanks again.
Absolutely amazing job your videos are getting better and better with each one love your humor and you have become such an amazing 3D Printer artist you have made so many cool and amazing things I just need a 3D Printer and to learn how to use it lol . Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I really appreciate it. You wont regret it - they're awesome :)
Hey, love the channel! Wondering where you buy the black mdf. (Swede)
I would happily fit one of those router tables in my bedroom. got some free space right between the milling machine and the night stand.
Id love to see what that bedroom looks like 😂
Beautiful utilitarian design. What is the Mdf for I am sorry I did not catch the name in video.
Fint bord! Jag lurar på att köpa samma fräshiss (?), har du haft någon användning av möjligheten att luta fräsen? Det är ju lätt att hitta på en massa tänk-om scenarion, eller blir det mest grada med 45˚ stålet?
Very nice work and original features. Have to smile when you talk about being mediocre, you’re well beyond that. But I know, always striving for being better, next time. 😅
Throw in witty dry humour - and we get to smile and laugh while learning and getting inspiration. Far from mediocre! 🤘
True facts about project feelings, Relatable
Could You share the cutlist program link here in comments? 🤔
Kul att du är öppen med kostnader och samarbeten. Det är ju lite skillnad på vad saker kostar här i Sverige mot när man kollar US TH-camrs...
Ja det är stor skillnad på vissa grejer
what black material do you use for building router table ?
Form AND function. Not always easy to pull off but you seem to have done it. Congrats! May I ask how much time you spent on the planning and construction?
thanks! I did spend a great deal of time on it. I wish I had it all written down but I don't so any guess would probably be totally wrong. But at least two-four full days on just drawing cad and planning.
Nicely planned with the 3d prints and combination with the woodwork.
I frequently use 3d printing to hybridise my builds and for such tasks as template guides, bracing/ports in my speaker builds etc.
As regards you and how you behave on camera - I genuinely wish majority of TH-camrs would ditch what I call the "YT Cadence", a juddering unnatural rate and pitch variance of speech that combines with false positivity to be super irritating.
An end to BS click bait titles and dishonest thumbnails on YT would be gold to.
Be yourself - and be appreciated a whole lot more for it :).
"Dont buy a router table - spend $2500 and a week making one instead"
Nah, I'll just save both time and money and get one shipped directly into my hands.
I have seen people use black mdf before and it looks soo good. However, I am in the US and cant find it anywhere locally, plus if I look online it STUPID expensive for just a sheet
Yeah Ive heard its hard to get a hold of over there
How are you liking the router fence? If you had to pay, what would you have gotten instead?
Don't buy a $200 router table, build a $4000 one instead.
Beautiful! Are you going to offer these for sale? Because that is the only way I would get one, lol. :)
