I made this bench top router table with wood scraps and pieces I had laying around. This could easily be turned into a standalone router table or as some call it a router station. The plywood was a bit wavy so I used epoxy glaze coat to self level the top in two applications. This seems to have worked really well for me. This is my first router table build and was a lot of fun! My overall cost was about $100. Honestly the base plate was most of that. I personally wanted a base plate for for two reasons. One I can change the hole size with inserts and two it has a spot for a starting pin.

How to make cornice
I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up th-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.
Wow. After watching countless vids on making router tables, this one just blows me away. It's THE one I intend to build! Thank you, Mitch!

I am in the process of making one very similar to yours. Your tutorial and design was a huge inspiration for my build. Instead of plywood, I took 2x4s and cut them to length, rip them in half, jointed them using a table saw big i made, glued and clamped them together, and then planed them using my router-sled jig I made. Thank you for the video. It's a very awesome build!!

My wife says I have a router table addiction (I only have 3!). I use them all when I'm building furniture so that I can set them for different cuts without needing to change the settings if I were to use only 1 table.
I really like how small and portable this one is so I just may build another table! Thanks for the idea on this great table!
I've never heard of a woodworker being called a stallion. Are you into horses? BTW I will be making this too, as like all the other comments, this video is just what folks need to get inspiration to build. This same setup purchased retail is $499, and not as sturdy. You want "sturdy" when using a tool like this. So much safer and the cuts are way way (did I say way?) more accurate. Thanks for having the talent and time and energy for making this video. Fish on!

Your use of contrasting colors and epoxy to level the work surface really makes this DIY project look professional. Your bevel and mitre work for the legs is darn clever, I also liked switch arrangement and the plastic safety shield. Excellent build. Looks very sturdy. First thing that caught my eye is the B-52 speaker in the background. I DJ'd with a pair of dual 15's just like that one. Rocked many wedding dances with them until I upgraded. And that switch addition is awesome! I know a lot of people are using battery operated routers now days, but my corded Bosch Colt would would work fabulous with a switch like that and makes on/off so much easier. I'm going to make a table and probably steel ideas from a few different builds including yours. Great job!

The Handyman , my favorite youtubber responds, awesome. im building this, minus the aluminum T tracks. im changing a few things but a great design. also adding a second swapable plate to mount my jigsaw. wondered where you got the idea for you sweet rig man.
Very neat wooden base. This router table design and construction is very much within my abilities along with so many others. Inserting the T-tracks allows for use of feather boards and jigs, allowing a more precise means for positioning. I think one of the best decisions is when you decided to install the Start/Stop switch out in a very easy to reach position. We all know how funky things can happen when using a router or table saw. Just knowing you have to near instant ability to kill the power gives many a comfortable feeling to be able to Bump off the power button when both hands maybe holding the wood against the fence. I currently have two router tables and cannot stand the table design at all on either one. Especially the on off switch location. This also is nice because it is quite portable. A very nicely done build.

One of the best instructional video I have seen. Video angles and lighting were superb. Normal speed to cover the key bits and sped up over the repetitive bits. Kept my interest throughout. Bravo!

Looks great and I just decided to build it some time. The main reason to do it is that similar tables on the market are not as solid and seem very expensive. But then I realized that if I factor in my time and multiply by what I am paid in my profession, such table would possibly cost me three times as much as those "expensive ones" I was reluctant to buy. 😁
Hey, man, nice build. So about those toilet bolts: were they - wait for it... wait for it - FLUSH MOUNTED? Bahaha... sometimes I crack myself up... Anyway, I like it. Some good info in it. One thing I'll remember is that if I laminate ply that size, I should do it on the table saw to keep everything flat.

This is super cool, but it's also convinced me just to spend $99 on a router table ;-) It's beautiful, and really cool, but it certainly won't save me any money. (I'm guessing you have way more than $100 of materials in that table, plus the hours/days it took to make it.)
Not to mention all of the great shop tools needed for fabrication!

I've just recently purchased a router and ever since, I've been looking for plans/videos to give me ideas for my own eventual build. With that being said, I love these plans. I'm currently working in my garage as well, so space is at a premium. Your router table seems to be exactly what I've been looking for because it's a benchtop table, and it has T-tracks on both the table and fence. Great video!

Good DIY project video. Short and to the point on all the details. The leveling technique is amazing for a first time build on this. I like how you know what important on the finishing on the inside cut and you knew you had the leveling screws planned out so the routing of the lip did not have to be super accurate. I am glade I saw your video first as I am thinking about how to build mine.
My husband used these plans from stodoys and he's very satisfied.
why pay when these guys/gals give you plans for free. And best of all they didn't steal them.

If I have a workshop like you have, I can build anything.....not just a router table!
Nice project, looks good. T-track is a nice option. Two things tho:
1) Romex (the yellow wire you used) is not rated for exposure. It is only rated for use inside a raceway or wall, or similar, because the jacket cannot effectively protect the user against minor damage. It is also not fire rated for exposure (just thought you might like to know).
2) Those connectors are (commonly) called two-screw connectors, or Romex connectors. Also, mixing stranded wire with solid wire is perfectly acceptable under NEC guidelines. Ring terminals are made for connections that use a screw terminal as a mating device. A wire nut without the ring terminals would be the correct way to wire that connection, as long as the ground wire is bonded (with a green screw) to the junction box that you used.
Having said all that crap, your build is really good man, well done :) I will be borrowing some of your ideas for mine.

If u don't mind a little idea...add a outlet to back of box OR a pig tail hanging out so u can plug ur vac in & the switch now turns both on n off same time 😊

I prefer t-track over mitre as well because of the jig potential, your first inserts are actually t-nuts but close enough and they do insert, just felt like nit picking. Think I'll make a foot switch for the power and keep my hands free just in case something horrific happens and I need both hands to survive it. Well thanks, the router I wanted went on sale at 63% off so I finally have one and need to build a table, so thanks for the video! The measurement photo on Drive was a nice touch.

Just bought my first second- hand router and an amateur at woodwork realy, but loved this it made me think I could do it easier (make the table) but buying the router is wanting the job to look professional so it would defeat the purpose of buying a router in the first place if it looked crap
