@@fishboat6244 I'm a commercial fisherman fishboat, fish should be blead, many gillnet fish are caught alive and many are not bled. I'm not trying to disrespect gillnetters. It's all good, take care.
I have never seen like this. I lived in Aberdeen, WA on the Chehalis River and they do gillnet fishing, but nothing that close between boats. They have small windows to fish as well before the general public can go out. Mostly natives get that gillnet pass.
I was a full share hand on THUNDERBIRD 2 502 mercruiser engines fastest boat in cook inlet had so much fun met excellent ppl should of never left 42 ft madera built aluminum salmon slayer i was so proud of the position
Every video I see involving this kind of fishing has a lot of people asking questions which is fine, but I notice a lot of you fellow Alaska gillnetters are extremely rude to those who are simply asking questions. I'm not pointing fingers but usually when people are so quick to get defensive it's because they feel like someone is accusing them of some wrong doing, and usually they are guilty. My question is why do so many people post gillnetting footage when it's so obvious that most fishermen have problems with it, you are bound to get flooded with negative comments then act so surprised when there Are!
@@littledeel You know, the smarter and nicer thing to do would have been to answer the guys question that he asked, without calling him a stupid cunt. If you are one of these fishermen, and you speak like that than maybe more people should be questioning your motives. Rude shitheads like yourself should not be allowed to share waters with other fishermen who are not shitheads. I'd knock your dumbass off your boat into the freezing water with the way you talk to people.
Good point, there Is absolutely no sport involved in gillnetting so why post it to TH-cam? And also notice how every single one of these gillnetters is so quick to reply with "idiot" or "fuck you cunt you know nothing about this stuff" that's proof that these guys are all dickheads.
@@bushisback112 they do it because when they share information the people who get it would pick it to pieces and use it against them even tho it's not what was said
@@bushisback112 takes a dickhead to know one. First of all, this isn't over harvesting and it is not sport and it is not disrespect. You non-gillnetting types basically don't know what the fuck you are talking about, as you so astutely mentioned. Gillnetters are sailors, we act like sailors, we talk like sailors. If that gets your panties in a bunch I'm pretty sure we don't give a shit. But back to the over harvesting comment above...these fish are surplus. This fishery gets opened when the hatchery has caught or has been projected to catch all the salmon it needs for cost recovery and for brood stock (TO KEEP THE SALMON RETURNING). Next to your "no sport involved" comment, yes you are correct this is not a sport fishery. It is a commercial salmon fishery. These fish would die of old age if a bunch of stuffed rich jerk-offs were trying to kill them with a rod and reel then releasing them all due to some bullshit honor system. Disrespect? Well, like I said at the start...it takes one to know one....
You can see how exhausting, but passionate, the work of these fishermen is

Thanks Taylor!
Glad to see it all clean vs the Exxon Valdez spill

I'm still confused on why there is no return??

Ur right 👍👍👍👍
The fish don't have a chance. When do the fishermen give back to the sea what they so wildly take?
well first off these fish are not "wild run" the fishermen support the hatchery that produces the salmon and releases them as fry into the ocean!!!!!

Это не рыбалка,это ..опа по американски.
Here is how and why Alaska's salmon runs have been severely wrecked by nonresident evil criminal out of state commercial fishermen !
A bit of over fishing makes no fishing for next year. Looks like a free for all. I love to fish but this looks dangerous and dumb.
